Does anyone have any favorite maps, guides or resources that I missed? Anyone know where I can get a paper copy of the Public Lands South Central New Mexico map?

Hello! Out of towner here (KY). I purchased a Ghost Ranch Blossoms and Bones festival ticket and a camping pass earlier this year for an upcoming trip out your way. Life happens and sometimes plans change, so I've had to scuttle my trip and am left with a three-day pass and camping spot I cannot use. I'd like somebody to be able to use them.

I'm not trying to make any money off them -- I know the tickets aren't sold out yet -- but I wouldn't mind making a little back from what I've already spent. I figure it doesn't hurt to ask $300 obo if anyone is interested. I'm hoping there is some interest. I will mention that the Sunrise main field camping area (where I have a pass for) IS sold out, so maybe that sweetens the deal.

I've checked with the ticketing company (holdmytickets.com) and have been informed that while I can't transfer the tickets out of my name, I can give the log-in and QR codes to any buyer or person I give the ticket/pass to. I'll be happy to forward the confirmation from holdmyticket.com to any interested.

Feel free to make an offer, I'd so much rather these tickets get used than not. I'm already bummed enough to be missing it and in having to cancel my trip.

I AM out of state, so we'll have to agree on a preferred money exchanging system. I personally use Venmo and Cash App, I know there are a million others. But hey, those details only need to be figured out if you are interested.

Hello! Im making plans to visit Chaco Canyon the end of September and want to know what I should be prepared for.

I’ve seen a lot of posts talking about the roads having rough terrain for miles and miles. I am taking a rental car since I’ll be driving from Texas, do y’all think this is the best course of action? I’m hoping I can get a vehicle that has 4WD/AWD.

I plan on staying in Grants, NM, which it says it’s about a 2 hour drive to Chaco Canyon, should I anticipate it being a longer drive due to the condition of the roads?

I was only planning to stay the day out there. The next day I have to make a drive back to Las Cruces to see family.

Any advice is welcome, this is going to be my first solo road trip so I’d like to know what I’m getting myself into from some locals! Thank you in advance :)

Hi everyone! I’m looking to make a new friend in the Albuquerque area who might eventually be interested in being my travel buddy.
I’ve been talking to a girl who lives in Montana, and I really care about her. We’ve been trying to figure out a safe and fair way to eventually meet in person. Right now, we’re considering meeting halfway in Denver, Colorado, although Cheyenne or eventually traveling to Montana are possibilities too. I’m currently thinking sometime in October, but the plans aren’t finalized yet.
The biggest thing is that I really don’t want to make the trip alone. It’s not necessarily because I’m scared to travel by myself—I just think having another person with me would make the experience safer, more comfortable, and honestly more fun. Think of it almost like a little road trip/field trip.
Unfortunately, I don’t really have a friend right now who has both the time and ability to travel with me, so I’m hoping I might be able to make a new friend who enjoys traveling and adventures.
I would NOT expect us to immediately go on a trip together. Before traveling anywhere, I would want us to meet several times here in Albuquerque in public places, hang out, get to know each other, and make sure we’re both comfortable and trust each other. Safety goes both ways, and I want whoever travels with me to feel comfortable too.
Ideally, I’m looking for someone who:
Lives around Albuquerque
Enjoys road trips and traveling
Has enough flexibility and money to travel occasionally
Would be comfortable traveling to places like Denver, Cheyenne, or potentially Montana
Is responsible and safety-conscious
Is genuinely interested in making a new friend, not just going on one trip
I can explain all of the travel details, costs, dates, transportation, accommodations, and what we’re planning once we get to know each other. Nothing would happen without planning everything together first.
I really want the opportunity to meet this girl, but I also want to be smart and cautious about traveling to meet someone for the first time. Having a trusted friend come along would mean a lot to me and would help me not feel like I’m doing this completely alone.

A couple days ago I decided to hike up to Williams Lake in order cross off another body of water I had not yet been to in New Mexico. That ended up being a spectacular success as I unexpectedly witnessed a group of 4-5 pikas barking back and forth to each other. I'm still in awe at having seen these adorable animals in the wild.

I’m a physical therapist and an immigrant currently living in New York. A colleague of mine previously mentioned New Mexico to me as a place worth considering, but at the time I wasn’t really interested, so I didn’t ask many questions.
Recently I’ve started looking into it again, and I’d love to hear from people who actually live there, especially other immigrants.
How is the Qol in NM overall? Is it generally safe, and which areas would you recommend living in? How is the community and day-to-day life for someone who moved there from another country?
For PTs, how is the job market and work environment in general? Is it relatively easy to find a decent position?
I’d also love to hear how New Mexico compares with other states you’ve lived in, particularly places like New York.
