Wasn't that move forbidden? I saw a guy failing at it a couple of days ago, and he landed of his head. Neck pain from that must've been a bitch (if he didn't outright injure himself)

It's legal, however, I heard Gary Neville (football pundit) say the other day that when the founding fathers of football came up with the rules for association football, it was very obvious that they never intended the throw-in to be launched into the box, like it often is nowadays.  Maybe not quite like you see in the video, but most Premier League teams have someone who can launch the ball into the box these days.

Not to take anything away from the skill level of the person taking the throw in the video, but I think the throw-in rule should be looked at, because it isn't quite in the spirit of the game that the throw-,in has become such an offensive set-piece.

It's not in the spirit of the game for the majority of high level players to act like divas and dive for penalties either. At least this is exciting and clever. If a player emerges that is capable of throwing that far with the normal stance would that be a problem too?

Yeah, that's what I meant, the players throwing the ball with a conventional  throw, these days, manage to get a lot more distance on it in than players used to manage several decades ago, and players several decades ago throw it further than players several decades before them.  Maybe not quite as far as this guy made, but not far off.

They way the throw-in rules were designed, it's not that easy to get a lot of distance on a throw without fouling, I don't think anyone really thought that you'd be able to get more than 10-20 yards on a throw-in a century ago.. Now you have players on almost every team who can throw the same kinda distance on a throw-in as players taking a corner kick, which doesn't seem in the spirit of how the rules were designed.

It's also really annoying when you are watching a game and you have to wait for the throw-in specialist who might be on the other side of the pitch to make his way over.  When in the old days the player closest used to just take a short throw and get on with it quickly, and it helped the game flow better.

And all the other advancements that happened were obviously anticipated and are in fact "in line with the spirit of the game"?

Lol, you "fans" truly are making a big deal about 20 guys running about hitting a ball..

Well you could trivialise all sports, as well as TV, films, music, literature, art, video games etc in the same way.  Why does anything matter?

Trivialise? My question is why is specifically this throw outside of the anticipated spirit of the gsme, but all other inovations in terms of equipment and athlete performance (including the bad stuff like fake dives) isn't an issue. Let the game evolve, if somebody can throw the ball as far as this, sure, good on them, they practiced a lot to make their performance more impactfull, within the rules.

You wrote 2 sentences, do I really need to spell out to you which sentence I was responding to?

Could you imagine that the second is related to the first one, and is talking specifically to the fans "guilty" of the stamces described im the first one?

It's an opinion.  It's not that deep.  That said, the gears in your brain (if you have one) definitely couldn't work out what I responding to, and if you can't follow basic English then I can't help you.

Good on you for having the brain and the gears to take the second sentence out of context. You really got me there champ!

You don't even know what 'out of context' means. You've literally used the phrase 'out of context' here, out of context. Of course, the irony will go over your head, but you carry on genius.
