Yeah, that's what I meant, the players throwing the ball with a conventional  throw, these days, manage to get a lot more distance on it in than players used to manage several decades ago, and players several decades ago throw it further than players several decades before them.  Maybe not quite as far as this guy made, but not far off.

They way the throw-in rules were designed, it's not that easy to get a lot of distance on a throw without fouling, I don't think anyone really thought that you'd be able to get more than 10-20 yards on a throw-in a century ago.. Now you have players on almost every team who can throw the same kinda distance on a throw-in as players taking a corner kick, which doesn't seem in the spirit of how the rules were designed.

It's also really annoying when you are watching a game and you have to wait for the throw-in specialist who might be on the other side of the pitch to make his way over.  When in the old days the player closest used to just take a short throw and get on with it quickly, and it helped the game flow better.

And all the other advancements that happened were obviously anticipated and are in fact "in line with the spirit of the game"?

Well you could trivialise all sports, as well as TV, films, music, literature, art, video games etc in the same way.  Why does anything matter?

Trivialise? My question is why is specifically this throw outside of the anticipated spirit of the gsme, but all other inovations in terms of equipment and athlete performance (including the bad stuff like fake dives) isn't an issue. Let the game evolve, if somebody can throw the ball as far as this, sure, good on them, they practiced a lot to make their performance more impactfull, within the rules.

It's an opinion.  It's not that deep.  That said, the gears in your brain (if you have one) definitely couldn't work out what I responding to, and if you can't follow basic English then I can't help you.
