From seeing other conversions, having a toilet in the shower is a common solution. Simple fact of the matter is: there has to be compromise.

For me, it’s more the fact that they have to shit with the door open and their legs sticking out into the rest of the van in the close vicinity of three different people. If there has to be that much of a compromise, l think I’ll just stay home, or in a hotel, or anywhere else.

My mom’s van has the toilet in the shower and it’s never been a big deal. I like the little toilet closet in this build as it let them reduce the overall footprint of the shower. Not a big fan of it being under the fridge though.

It’s not the toilet being in the shower that bothers me. I’m genuinely curious: in your mom’s van, can people take a dump with the door closed?

Yup. There's a retractable door on the shower that you can shut. It's typically just my mom and her dog, though, so I doubt she shuts the door that frequently.

Yeah, I’m cool with that. I just would have loathed having to poop with my legs sticking out the door in a small communal space with my family growing up, so the BR in this video makes me uncomfortable. I had bad digestive issues growing up. I need a separate closable room with a fan.

Oh what a pampered princess you must be 👼🏼

Correct, don’t forget it.

Yeah, it's not a bad solution at all really. Higher and more efficient space utilization goes a very long way in those conversions. I think people don't realise how limited the space to work with is.

My claustrophobia could never. That's got to be the smallest shower space possible. And you sure aren't even shaving legs in there!

I once had to stay in a hotel for a week for work, the shower was probably only a little bit bigger than this one I managed two days of showers in “the cupboard” before I asked the staff where the nearest gym was signed up for a month membership (shortest available) just so I could shower and not worry about smashing my elbows through the walls.

You could have tried asking the hotel to change your room. Rooms of the same category can still be quite different, some probably with bigger showers.

As a hotel receptionist, I would have approved it, granted there are rooms available, but it might be different in your country.

Notice she doesn’t even walk all the way in the shower? I’m 6’4, and the idea of cramming into that space for a shower makes me shiver.

Can you imagine having a dodgy stomach for a day and just being on edge any time someone else needs to use the shower and having to pray you don’t need to go in that time.
