It's a camping van, they don't live in it.

It says specifically home in the video. I don't know who they are and i'm not going to bother looking it up so you might be right. They are portraying it as van life tho

They are not tho.

Its a short video showing them turning a van into an RV, that's it.

"What we bought....the home we built" it's literally the first 5 seconds of the video

Yes and?

Where does it say they live in it 24/7?

These people have a house, they fix up these vans as part of their job.

They are not living in it.

You don't call something a home unless you live in it. I'm not saying what you are wrong and that they are actually living in it. I'm saying that they are portraying themselves as living in it.

In Canada we sometimes call RVs camper homes. Idk about wherever you’re from. Please don’t write an essay in response about the dishonesty of society or whatever I’m just giving context.

Thanks for the context

And so what if they are?

What's that to you?

Because the whole fucking point is that the internet is absolutely drowning in people pretending to be something they are not, or at least presenting some polished, selective version of their life that barely resembles the actual thing.

Fake wealth. Fake relationships. Fake productivity. Fake “simple living.” Fake entrepreneurship. Fake homesteading. Fake van life. Fake fucking everything.

People build an image around whatever they think other people will envy.

Look how free we are. Look how adventurous we are. Look how little we need. Look how we escaped the boring normal life everyone else is stuck in.

Then they cut out all the inconvenient shit and package the rest into a neat little video. You do not see the arguments, the boredom, the lack of privacy, the logistics, the money problems, the things breaking, the stress or any of the other mundane bullshit that actually comes with living that way.

You see the fucking aesthetic.

And that is one of the most annoying parts of internet culture. Everybody is selling an identity.

It does not even have to be completely fake. You can show real things and still create a completely bullshit impression through what you choose to show, what you leave out and how you frame it.

And people absolutely fall for this shit.

They buy things because influencers have them. They move somewhere because TikTok made it look amazing. They quit jobs because somebody sold them the digital-nomad fantasy. They start businesses because somebody posted a revenue screenshot and conveniently forgot to mention everything else.

So this whole “why would that bother you?” argument is fucking stupid. The entire influencer economy exists because people are influenced by what other people portray online. That is literally the fucking point.

And I do not even care whether these particular people are faking anything.

Maybe they really live in the van. Maybe they only use it sometimes. Maybe they have a house somewhere. Maybe “home” was just wording for the video.

I genuinely do not give a fuck.

What bothered me from the beginning was the children.

Adults want to live in a van? Great. Live in a shoebox. Live on a boat. Sleep in a hammock. Shit in a bucket in the woods. You're an adult. Make whatever fucking lifestyle choice you want.

Children do not get that choice.

And when you put children into that lifestyle and then package it online as this cool, unconventional, enviable alternative to ordinary family life, somebody is absolutely going to watch it and think, “Hey, we could totally fucking do that too.”

Because people are stupid.

Some of them will think about it properly. Some of them will think about it for thirty fucking seconds after watching a video and decide it looks amazing.

That is why the presentation matters to me.

And the fact that I even have to explain something this fucking obvious to you is ridiculous. You're just fucking stupid, and at this point I feel stupid for wasting this much time explaining basic reading comprehension and basic internet culture to you.
