Seeking Advice Labor & Delivery Interview

Hi everyone. I’m a nursing student graduating in 2 semesters! I’m wondering if anyone can give me some advice and help me prepare for an interview in mother/baby & labor & delivery. I got pregnant during school and took a leave of absence after my maternity class, so it’s been over a year since I took that class and did clinicals there. What should I refresh on? Any advice is welcome!

Review your OB class material so that you can ask relevant questions. Ask to shadow. Don’t talk about your own labor experience.

Research your hospital and know what you’re applying to, it goes a long way to display that you’re invested in the type of unit they are and how they function. For example, what level NICU does the hospital serve? What level perinatal service center is it? Is the hospital apart of the baby friendly hospital initiative? Is it a LD or LDRP? If you don’t know the answer to any of these, then ask them in your interview!

I'm graduating at the beginning of 2027. All the hospitals here have us apply based on our graduation date. My semesters are only 7 weeks long.
