Sometimes I see mutual friends on Instagram with large friend groups and I wonder... how? I've been in NYC for over a decade and never truly found a group. If I did have a group... we slowly vanished because several people moved to Los Angeles, Miami, etc.
I know majority of these large gay friend groups have all hooked up with each other. It seems like gay friendship is hook up first, friendship next. If if no one wants to hook up but the other does, the firendship becomes awkward.
It seems like guys want to hook up first before anything.
I met a guy at the gym, we chatted, found out we have a lot in common, exchanged numbers and IG and he kept messaging me to hang out. I'm like yeah lets get something to eat or go see a movie. He tells me "Well... I kinda also like Netflix and chill" so thats a given sign he just wants a hook up.
Another guy I hooked up with first, hit it off. We both like the same things. Then he text me literally the next day about wanting him wanting me to come over hook up. I initiated hanging in the city, and he left me on read.
I can go on and on about meeting guys out in the city that reject the idea of meeting for a coffee but immediately say yes when it comes to a hook up.
Majority of my friends are girls and straight guys. I dont go circuit partying, basement parties. I like intellectual conversations, movies, broadway, maybe a drink or two at a bar.
I just need to know I'm not the only one who feels this way.
