Context:
I put some content about the demo I released(Checkpoint '38) and there were demands from this community that I include Grzegorz Brzęczyszczykiewicz. Well... say hello to Brzęczysz.....whatever!

Disclaimer:
Checkpoint ’38 is a historical simulation set at a real German–Swiss border crossing between 1938 and 1945. It depicts the period as accurately as possible, including Nazi themes (swastikas, party insignia, uniforms, language, rules etc.).

Papers, Please is why I make games at all. Mine's out now. The computer already said no, and your job is to work out why and sign it.

Papers, Please got in my head years ago and honestly never left (I still play it from time to time). Not the stamping so much as the rulebook, the way it shifts and morphs and you're three entrants deep before you catch it. Also Jorji... everyone's got a Jorji story.

My own take on this game came out this week. Posting here first because the debt owed is obvious, and because if it doesn't work well with this lot it probably doesn't work at all.

An automated scoring model denies people credit, housing, and utilities and states no reason. The law says a human has to sign one anyway, so that's you sitting at Desk 9, the file the model saw, and a book of reason codes. Find the code the denial fits then cite the exact lines that prove it. Cite wrong and Appeals bounces it back overturned, which costs time.

Anyway. The part I built the whole thing for are files with no lawful reason in them at all. Refuse and eat the time penalty, or write a reason that isn't in the record and sign your name under it. The game keeps count and never says it's counting.

It's a dot matrix on greenbar, hand drawn and hand written, with no generative AI anywhere.

Two quetions, if anyone's got opinions:

  1. Did the reason side of Papers, Please interest you more than the catching side? That bit where you know something's wrong but the book won't let you act yet.

  2. And does anyone like a rulebook or do you just tolerate one? I put a stupid amount of work into the codebook (possibly too much, and I'm afraid I made it overly confusing).

I'd be happy to answer anything about how it works.

I kept making mistakes, so I ran out of money fast, and my entire family died, which led to me being fired.

Fun game.

Hi friends! What do you think?

Shop Crush is a mysterious shop simulator with psychological horror elements, set in the early 2000s.

In this hybrid visual novel, you run a small thrift shop, get to know your customers, figure out what they really want, and decide what to put in front of them. Every customer has their own personality, preferences, and hidden motives - and it’s up to you to figure them out.

Behind each customer is a small psychological mystery waiting to be uncovered. Read their behavior, make the right calls, and balance profit against customer trust as you try to keep the shop running for one more day.

Inspired by Papers, Please, I spent months building a stressful dystopian inspection game—what do you guys think of the terminal UI?

Hey everyone! Like many of you, Papers, Please completely ruined (in a good way) how I look at administrative work in video games. I fell so deeply in love with the tense, slow-burn pressure of inspecting documents, catching microscopic discrepancies, and dealing with moral gray areas that I decided to build my own take on the sub-genre.

I’m a solo developer, and I just got my Steam page live for my game Decontamination Protocol!

In the game, you’re stuck working behind a terminal in a tense, high-surveillance environment. Your job is to meticulously check credentials, cross-reference shift datasets, stamp approvals or rejections, and deal with stressful anomalies while everything slowly falls apart around you.

I’ve put together a quick GIF showing how the core document-checking loop works right now:

I'd love to hear from fans of the genre:

  1. What was your absolute favorite part of the rule-checking tension in Papers, Please?
  2. Are there any annoying UI or mechanics from similar games that you hate and wish developers would fix?

If this looks like your kind of nightmare shift, you can check out the screenshots on Steam here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5118330/Decontamination_Protocol/

Thanks for looking, and glory to... well, you know. 🫡

The Antegrian wife on Day 5 is sadly very loyal

people tend to not reject the Antegrian husband on Day 5 cause he always has correct papers (usually ppl will only reject the wife or save the wife if they feel bad enough) but upon deciding to reject the husband, his wife he asks you to save (who doesnt have correct documents) refuses to even give her papers and goes with him when hes denied :((

Do you have any theories on Nathan Cykelek

Obviously he's suspicious considering he had 2 passports but does anyone have any speculations on what his double life was about? It bugs me that he promises to explain himself if you interrogate him and them he never does

Can’t seem to highlight missing documents/passports on iOS.

I’ve tapped everywhere across the screen but when someone misses their passport and/or ID card or document.

I go to the rules and highlight it but there’s literally no other place I can do it and it just wastes time and the day.

Any ANY advice is appreciated

Hey everyone, I have a couple weeks until Comic-Con in my city and I was considering making something Papers Please related. There are only these two images I found online as references. Would anyone know what kind of clothes I need, what I need to make the stand, etc etc. Thank you!

EDIT: I think I know what I need for the clothing, thank you! What about the booth?
