Controls/Input Using Xbox Series controller via BT on Steam causes inputs to not respond after not pressing inputs for around 10 seconds

I seemingly can't find anyone else with the same issue online, and I've tested my controller with Steam controller idle settings and extended feature drivers disabled to no avail. I first noticed it on my desktop PC a couple months ago, in which I use a USB BT dongle for it because it doesn't have a BT supported MB (and I'm aware there might be issues with using a dongle for this purpose), but now it's suddenly occurring on my laptop, which does have internal BT support (also using different controllers for each device). Once again, this only seems to happen when I play games on Steam, or playing non-Steam games with Steam running in the background. The controller itself doesn't disconnect at all, it's just that the inputs themselves doesn't respond in-game after not pressing any inputs for around 10 seconds. When I push a button after that 10 second break nothing happens, but then pressing it again immediately afterwards will work, and everything will work until the next 10 second pause occurs.

Solved Fixing a PC crash when launching Gears 5 2026

A friend of mine has had this problem for several months; his PC crashes randomly when he launches Gears 5

bsod "kmode_exception-not_handled" easyanticheat.sys

win11

14900k

gigabyte z790 gaming xax bios update ok

48g ddr5 6000 xmp1

4080 super

bequiet 850w gold 80+

aio asus rog lc iii 360

After several attempts (BIOS settings, reinstalling Gears 5, repairing EasyAntiCheat), the problem appears to be caused by a conflict with easyanticheat.sys

I’m sharing the solution I’ve found, which completely resolves the problem (I couldn’t find it anywhere online)

-- Windows Security =>> Application and Browser Control =>> ‘Programme Settings’ tab

Add a programme

-Gears5.exe

Then look for ‘Control Flow Protection’, tick ‘Override system settings’ and set the slider to ‘Disabled’ just below it

Restart the PC

That definitely sorted out the problem.

Troubleshooting My pc can't run mc modded

I wasn't sure if I should post this here or anywhere more Minecraft related, but I thought it was more a computer issue rather than a game issue, so I apologize if this was the wrong place to post this.

I've been trying to play modded Minecraft on my PC. I can start the launcher, but when I press play, the game crashes before it even boots. I get an error message from CurseForge saying that it "failed to initialize graphics window with current settings," etc., and then it mentions OpenGL. I've tried a bunch of ways to fix this before I decided it could be my graphics card. I searched for solutions, such as placing the opengl32.dll in the bin folder, but that didn't work. I tried allowing the game high-performance mode because I've also read that that could work, but it didn't. I tried a bunch of other things, and then I decided it must be my graphics card.

I also want to say that before this problem, I couldn't even run vanilla Minecraft because the same error message would pop up. Then I read somewhere that you could install something from the Windows Store called the OpenGL Compatibility Pack, and I did that, and it worked. I used it, and after that, I could play normal Minecraft, but still not use CurseForge. Of course, I tried to see if it was CurseForge, so I tried to use Modrinth, but that didn't work. I tried to use Prism Launcher, but that didn't work. I used Lunar Client, but that didn't work either. They all crashed with the same error code, and then when I was pushed back to the Minecraft launcher, it would talk about exit code 1, and I'm pretty sure that meant that it crashed even before the game could boot in the first place.

Obviously, I was running out of options here, so I decided to install DDU and reset my graphics card. I did that successfully, and it worked. Then I tried to boot the game modded, and I still got the same error message, and at this point, I don't know what to do.

Now, normally I wouldn't care that much about playing Minecraft. It's just that I have a family with a rough background story, I have a half-brother; he's younger than me, and he lives in a different house. He's recovering from cancer, so he's mostly home and he plays games because he doesn't have the energy to physically interact with people. Therefore, he really only plays Minecraft, and he really wants to play with me, and I want to play with him, but I can't.

I don't know if specs would help?

Cpu: Ryzen 7 9700x

Gpu: RX 9070

Ram: 64GB ddr5

If anyone have ideas, I appreciate it.

Display Screen suddenly had a dark tint for 3-5 seconds.

So I had this pre built rig with r5 5500, rtx5060 from a year and half(?) maybe two ago. Everything else was bought around the same time if not less. Including my Philips 27inch monitor. Recently I've been playing once human and just yesterday while tabbing from Chrome to the game. I experienced a dark tint on my entire screen, I saw it like multiple times maybe 2 3 times within an hour, I freaked out and I try to use the windows ctrl shift b combo to reset the gpu driver and it stopped. Today it happen again and I repeated the same process. For now it's not appearing. But I'm wondering why? Is it something to do with my monitor failing? Or gpu failing? Or the game is causing this? Me tabbing in and out? I need some help identifying the problem. Could it be the Nvidia driver? I already update it. I always check every week. Or maybe it's the new windows preview update? I wonder if someone else have experience this dark tint before.

Compatibility Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos (Joey the Passion) - Black Screen with Audio on Windows 11 (Tried dgVoodoo2)

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I am trying to run the legacy PC game "Yu-Gi-Oh! Power of Chaos: Joey the Passion" (originally built on DirectX 8.1 / released in 2004) on a modern Windows 11 setup.

The game initializes, but I get a completely black screen. The background music plays perfectly, and I can hear the menu button hover sound effects when moving my mouse cursor around blindly, so the engine is running in the background.

System Specifications:

- OS: Windows 11 Home/Pro (64-bit)

- Hardware: Nvidia RTX 4060 - Ryzen 7 9800x3d

- Display: 1080p Desktop Monitor

What I Have Already Tried:

  1. Moved the entire game installation folder out of 'Program Files (x86)' directly into 'C:\KONAMI\' to avoid Windows folder permission locks.

  2. Dropped the correct 32-bit (MS\x86) dgVoodoo2 wrapper DLLs (D3D8.dll, DDraw.dll, D3DImm.dll) into the game directory right next to the executable.

  3. Configured dgVoodooCpl.exe as an administrator, pointed it to the local folder, turned off the watermark, and switched output API to Direct3D 11.

  4. Set the game executable to "Run as administrator" and toggled "Disable full-screen optimizations" under Windows compatibility options.

  5. Turned on the "DirectPlay" feature under Windows Legacy Components.

  6. Forced the game into windowed mode using both dgVoodoo2's control panel and the "-win" target shortcut parameter.

Even in forced windowed mode, the window pops up but remains a blank black square with audio playing. It seems like the modern display driver / WDDM layer is dropping or rejecting the actual video rendering handshake from the engine.

Does anyone know a specific Windows 11 registry override, a specific graphics control panel scaling tweak, or an alternative DX wrapper configuration that fixes this specific legacy rendering loop? Thank you!

Update: i used this mod tool and the game is running but windowed instead of fullscreen. the fullscreen option will result in blackscreen with sound in background.

Troubleshooting Undervolting my GTX 1650 Super somehow fixed my GTA V black screen issue?

So I just wanted to share what happened with my GTX 1650 Super because honestly I’m still not 100% sure what was causing it 😂

Recently, whenever I play GTA V, the game would sometimes crash and then my monitor would suddenly say no signal / black screen.

At first I thought maybe it’s my PSU, GPU, driver, HDMI cable, etc.

The weird thing is, when the screen goes black, the whole PC doesn’t actually seem to be frozen.

I can still press Caps Lock / Num Lock and the keyboard indicator responds. I can also connect to my PC using Unified Remote on my phone, and I can even shut down the PC from there.

So basically, the PC is still alive, but I lose the display.

I tried a bunch of things:

\* Changed HDMI cable
\* Tried another display
\* Tried Win + Ctrl + Shift + B
\* Downgraded my NVIDIA driver
\* Lowered GTA V settings from Very High to High
\* Ran FurMark for around 3 hours and it didn’t crash

But GTA V could still randomly cause the black screen.

So I thought, why not try undervolting the GPU?

I ended up setting my GTX 1650 Super to 1680 MHz at 812 mV.

And so far… it’s actually working 😂

I played GTA V for more than 2 hours with the undervolt and didn’t get the black screen/no signal issue.

What’s funny is that I wasn’t even trying to get more performance. I was just trying to make the GPU use less power and hopefully run cooler.

Now I’m wondering if the stock boost/voltage was somehow causing instability on my card.

But I’m also curious — what could actually be the possible issue here?

Could it be a GPU that has become slightly unstable over time? Maybe the stock boost voltage is no longer ideal for the card? PSU? Driver issue? Something related to GPU power delivery? Or could GTA V just be triggering a specific workload that exposes the problem?

The fact that lowering the voltage and locking it to 1680 MHz seems to make GTA V stable is what’s confusing me.

I know 2+ hours doesn’t prove that it’s 100% fixed yet, so I’m still going to keep testing it.

Has anyone experienced something similar with a 1650 Super, especially where the display dies but Windows is still responsive?

Would love to hear what you guys think the possible cause is.

Troubleshooting Pc Black Screen and Fans Running

Hello, I have been having an ongoing issue with my PC for months now and it seems to only get worse. Currently my pc will black screen and the fans will run at max when playing certain games, like Marvel Rivals, CGSO, etc. while other times I will get a different issue, an AMD Driver timeout on Dead by Daylight, Fortnite, etc. I have ran multiple tests through OCCT, those being CPU, CPU+RAM, Memory, and Power with no issues occurring, as well as the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool with no problems there either. I have done multiple clean uninstalls and installs of my drivers and even got a new GPU under my warranty but the issues still occur. I have tried undervolting with no success, I also took it to Geek Squad at BestBuy and told them the problem but they were unable to recreate the issue. I would greatly appreciate any suggestions for what to do next.

Performance/FPS fairly new pc has fluctuating fps

got a prebuilt codex gaming pc around a month ago, and at first the performance was around 180 fps fairly consistently, the games i mostly play are rocket league and fortnite, and have performance mode settings for both. when i turn on fps it shows it can go up to 360 though hardly, but my monitor is only 180fps so i have it capped to 180 or even 160 sometimes, however it still fluctuates a lot and will go down to like 80 or maybe even worse.

Troubleshooting FW16 Locks up while gaming

(x-posting to r/PathOfExile2, r/Framework, and r/LinuxMint)

I have a Framework Laptop 16 (AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS with Radeon 780M graphics and 64GB RAM), running Linux Mint 22.3. I have an ongoing issue with gaming. The display freezes and the system stops responding to keyboard and mouse. It affects graphics-heavy games like Path of Exile and War Thunder, though it happened once while watching a movie with VLC. Hardware vendor suggested changing drivers and reinstalling the OS. I suspect it's hardware, though I have no evidence of that.

I ran a RAM test for over an hour without seeing any errors, though that might not have been sufficient time to test 64GB. Are there other diagnostics I can use to test the CPU and GPU?

Might I find any clues in system log files? TIA

Troubleshooting Crackling audio when fps drop

I’m experiencing audio crackling on my laptop (Huawei MateBook D15, Ryzen 5 3500U, 8GB RAM). It usually happens when my FPS drops the audio starts crackling, but restarting the game (like Valorant and watching youtube) temporarily fixes it. However, if the FPS drops again or if I use the laptop for an extended period, the crackling returns. This issue started right after I installed AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition. I’m not sure if a driver update caused this or if it’s a hardware problem.

If there's anyone experiencing this or is someone already have fixed this before, please can you help me.

Network/Wifi/Internet Connecting TV to PC via CAT6 Cabling for the purpose of playing games

Kind of a part 2 of the previous post I made. Thank you to those who gave out ideas and suggestions, I've been looking into a few of them, hence a part 2.

I currently play primarily on console downstairs on my TV, with the intention of moving to PC, but my wife enjoys playing games with me and acting as a twitch audience of 1 for story driven games like Yakuza, Mass Effect, etc. My PC is currently in my office upstairs, where I would prefer to keep it for work purposes, but I would also like to be able to play it on the big TV downstairs without constantly needing to unplug it, carry it downstairs and replug everything in every other day.

For context of the space, the office is directly above where I sit downstairs to play games (around 3 meters in height difference, through one floor.)

After my previous post, some suggested running cables from upstairs to downstairs, which I have been looking into. From what I understand (and please correct me if I'm wrong or if it is sub-optimal) I am thinking of getting 4 ports up and down stairs with CAT6 cabling between them.

With a HDMI to CAT6 convertor on either side, to send the HDMI signal from my PC to my TV with CAT6 inbetween. Using something like this. With the other two ports for a ethernet cable to wire my computer directly to the internet (as opposed to wifi it is currently one), and the other for a USB adapter thingy. (And a spare ethernet port as 4 just makes it symmetrical)

The reason for the USB Adaptor is so I can connect a dongle for a headset, wireless controller and wireless keyboard and mouse. As I have heard even with the 3m difference in distance, the floorboards can mess it about. (Again correct me if this is nonsense as I've seen a lot of conflicting information regarding this.)

TL:DR

I'm thinking of getting some CAT 6 cables leading my office (where the PC is located) downstairs to my living room (where my TV and couch are located) so I can play PC games downstairs. With the intention of playing games with a headset, wireless controller, what should I be aware of/plan for if I pull the trigger on this?

Performance/FPS XPS 15 Runs Smooth and then locks up for 10 seconds

I noticed this playing Helldivers 2 but tested and it came up in Deadlock, I play league and never have performance issues. I have an XPS 15 9530 which I believe has a mobile 4050. It runs perfectly fine for around 10-20 minutes and then it will pause for 10 seconds and drop to 2-3 frames, the audio will also pause. From what I've seen the GPU utilization drops really low as well, it does not seem like traditional thermal throttling as it is very bursty and the game runs smoothly outside of those moments.

Does anyone know what could be causing this? I've checked drivers and even uninstalled a windows update people said was problematic.

Here is my userdiag report https://userdiag.com/id/4oz5vMX9qo
