I’ve been seeing way too much elitism in the PC community lately, and honestly, it’s getting exhausting. It seems like every time someone posts a build with older or low-end parts, the comments are flooded with people clowning on them for not having the latest flagship hardware.

Here is why this needs to stop:

I built my first PC when I was 13. I didn’t have a massive budget; I was extremely lucky to receive a free CPU and GPU from my older brother and saved up Christmas money. That machine wasn't the best, but building it taught me more about hardware and problem-solving than someone who just drags their parents to Best Buy to drop $1,500 on a pre-built ever will.

Comments like "just upgrade to an RTX 5060" are completely out of touch. Not everyone lives in a region with easy access to affordable tech or has a high disposable income. In many parts of the world, a functioning PC is a luxury, not a given. We act like a kid in rural Romania can walk down the street and land a high-paying job to fund a hobby.

We claim to be a community about "PC Gaming," but we’re alienating the very people who are trying to get into it. A kid stretching $150 to get their first rig running deserves respect for the hustle, not ridicule because their GPU isn't cutting-edge.

While we're at it, can we drop the obsession with triple-digit frame rates? For 90% of non-esports titles, a stable 30 FPS is perfectly playable. If the game runs and the user is having fun, who cares if they aren't hitting 144 FPS?

My point is this: Not everyone can afford anything but a low-end computer. I would rather see a community that celebrates the act of building and the passion for tech rather than one that treats PC gaming as a status symbol.

Let’s stop being so entitled and remember that everyone started somewhere.

I’m positive this will ruffle some feathers to you AMD fanboys out there, but when was the last time we had actual, real competition in the CPU market? 2010-2016 was all Intel, and I guess you can say 2017-2019 was competitive. Given Intel has released some decent chips but AMD has promised major upgrade paths compared to Intel’s revolving door of sockets since LGA1151. Intel has showed some promise with the + CPUs but they just aren’t being talked about enough, mainly because Intel is already ditching this socket after yet another disappointing generation. It seems the tables have turned. AMD has been quiet for the last two years with no news of a new generation yet, so this is the perfect opportunity for Intel to move the CPU market again. And before you guys say that I’m an Intel fanboy, I’m not. I have an AMD build and I’m loving it. I just figured that there really isn’t anything interesting going on in PC building right now and a new CPU war would definitely be interesting. But anyways, I’m rambling at this point. What is you guys’ opinion? Should Intel become prominent again or should AMD just get more market share while they sit there and do nothing for two years?

I’ve been playing A Plague Tale Legacy: Resonance and honestly, it looks absolutely amazing.

The atmosphere, environments and overall visual presentation are beautiful.

Jokes aside, the game currently seems to struggle with freezes in certain areas. I’ve encountered a few noticeable freezes while playing, so there are definitely still some technical issues that need to be ironed out.

Asobo Studio seems to already be working on fixes, so hopefully we’ll see a patch addressing these problems soon.
Apart from that, I’m really enjoying it so far. ❤️

50-60% performance cost is confirmed and will only be for one game, Nvidia official graphics are showing Frame Generation 6x in order to achieve high FPS but native framerate is clearly under 60 for some GPU. Useless.

Hi guys, the NVIDIA subreddit is closed for post submissions, so hoped someone here could help answer some questions regarding the new DLSS version coming out. I've just had a baby, so I haven't been able to follow all the info out there, and with all the pre-released/modded Ray Reconstruction posts and info, I'm very confused about what is what...

For context: I have a 5080 with a 9800x3d CPU.

1.1. Does DLSS 5 contain the new version of Ray Reconstruction (4.5) that a lot of people have been able to mod into games recently?

1.2 Do they work together, or do you have to choose RR separately to DLSS 5?

1.3 In fact, what's the difference between the DLSS 5 and the Ray Reconstruction 4.5?! Most posts either say DLSS 5 or RR, and they show similar graphical improvement in both...

1.4 Where does Ray Tracing come into this? Does RR 4.5 replace Ray Tracing?

1. I've seen some reports say that using RR 4.5/DLSS 5 reduced fps by 50%. Any idea if that's projected to be the case for the version releasing on 3rd Sept? If so, is that the case for 5080s too, or does it only apply to "unofficially supported" GPUs (4000 cards, etc) - or the modded version?

1. When DLSS 5 comes out, will it be available for all games through the override option in the NVIDIA app, or just the few mentioned (Assassin's Creed Shadows, Hogwarts Legacy, Oblivion, etc)? For example, when 4.5 came out, M and L worked on a lot more games than officially supported, by overriding the version through the app (or DLLs).

4.1 Same question, but for Ray Reconstruction: Can I override Ray Reconstruction in games that are not officially supported, or would I need to mod it?

4.2 Also: Would it only apply to games that officially support Ray Reconstruction through an in-game option, or would the override force the game to use RR? From what I see, the mod everyone talks about is being used in all sorts of games, even some old ones.

1. What preset will be DLSS 5? Do we still use M and L, or is it a new one? Has this info been released yet?

More exciting than GTA 6 Extended Look that I don’t even have any interest in.

I recently bought a used 3070 to replace my old 1650 for 1080p gaming. However a lot of my friends have been telling me that 1080p isn't even worth it with a card like that, and to just upscale. I myself am worried about the 8gbs of v ram. I'm not sure if I will end up regretting it if I follow their advice. Any thoughts?

I got a new pair of wire strippers recently and was trying them out on some old psu cables from my failed psu. Is it worth it to strip the cables down to the copper and sell them for scrap.

I’m trying to figure out whether my RTX 5080 temperatures are actually normal or if I should improve my airflow.

I have an MSI RTX 5080 Gaming Trio OC in an NZXT H9 Elite with a full set of case fans.

Under full load, I usually get around 72–76°C, with occasional spikes up to around 78-79°C. The games I’ve tested are Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 6, Assetto Corsa EVO, MFS 2024 - DLSS and FG. I’ve also tested it with 3DMark.

What temperatures are you guys getting?

I originally went all-in on the LCD/RGB look: LCD fans everywhere, an LCD AIO, and three Strimers.
And honestly, no matter what I put on the screens or which RGB effects I tried, I never really liked how it looked. It just felt way too busy and cluttered.

So I went the opposite direction: swapped in the new Noctua AIO, replaced every LCD fan with a non-LCD one, and ditched the CPU and motherboard Strimers.

Way cleaner now. Turns out I spent a bunch of money on LCDs just to realize that less is more lol.

trying to get my girlfriend a new (used) pc, and i am not able to drop another massive bag. any ideas? edit: i guess i should have said: obviously going to be looking on fb, what kind of specs should i look. for at that price range

My monitor is 3840*2160 - but I can't run that game at 4K and want to put it at 1440P. No full-screen option; I have to change my monitor's resolution to 1440 before it will run on the lower resolution.

An example would be FF7 Rebirth - everytime I want to play it, I have to change my desktop's resolution to 1440P. The DLAA in that game looks way better than the 4K performance mode.

For me probably it will be cool if we see the gang in their prime. Robbing banks and trains. But I'm not sure how well will that go with the story, given how RDR2 ended. Maybe it will be hard to produce another story with the same gang and have it have a satisfying ending?
