Build/Battlestation Help building a pc

Upvotes

Hello, i am looking on specs to build my pc. I dont really have knowledge required for that. I need a pc for 3D modeling, rendering and gaming. I need a lot of storage, preferably 2TB. I need it to be fast and that it can process a lot of things at once. I have a budget of around 1500€. I need full build with monitor. Dont include speakers and those external components. Thank you for your help

Question what should be the distribution of my budget in a low end gaming pc?

Upvotes

this might be a dumb question but I have always been wondering about how much I should really be spending on each part of my pc. I am buying used unless there are any parts I shouldn't for any reason please tell me if so. I am going for 1080p gaming at like 120 or so fps on any settings at all.

if you are confused by the question I mean like should I spend 20% of my budget on the gpu, or like 30 40 percent. I just want to make sure I don't have an imbalanced system

Some years ago the actual sata power connector on one of my Seagate drives burned crisp. I suspect i it was my fault, due to a poorly seated power connection leading to resistance enough to cause a fire. Check your connections folks, i was lucky with this one.

Had it stock with 2x in the front for awhile with a 360AIO on top. Was doing some cleaning when I noticed the brackets at top could fit 2 more big bois. All Intake with low rpm at top and 700rpm at the front exhausting out back. Moves way more than enough air for 9600x and 9070xt.

I know it's not necessary, but I wanted to try. It might look a bit bad because of the video compression.

Question Will PC be fine in the car for multi-day trip?

Upvotes

I’m moving from the East coast to the West coast by car with my dad for school. I have my PC nicely wrapped in antistatic and normal bubble wrap inside of an ikea “wooden” drawer that it fits into. We will be making overnight stops on the way but I am a bit worried about heat impacting the computer while it sits inside the car overnight. Should I take out the PC every time we are staying at a hotel or will it be fine in the car for 4 days straight?

Question Can a PSU really bottleneck a rig?

Upvotes

So i upgraded to a 9070XT yesterday. Instantly managed to get 250 fps (ish) on ultra RT, I thought it would be a safe thing to upgrade my PSU from my 750W corsair TXm to an NZXT C850. And without changing any settings im now getting about 300+ so can a PSU really unleash the actual power of other components?

Hardware RTX 5080 ~75°C under full load — is this normal or it’s running too hot?

Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I’m trying to figure out whether my RTX 5080 temperatures are actually normal or if I should improve my airflow.

I have an MSI RTX 5080 Gaming Trio OC in an NZXT H9 Elite with a full set of case fans.

Under full load, I usually get around 72–76°C, with occasional spikes up to around 78-79°C. The games I’ve tested are Cyberpunk 2077, Forza Horizon 6, Assetto Corsa EVO, MFS 2024 - DLSS and FG. I’ve also tested it with 3DMark.

What temperatures are you guys getting?

I'm using mx-7 thermal paste and it's said to be not conductive but I'm still not sure how to clean so I'm wondering if I can still boot and play as it is

Hardware PC for multicore computing first, gaming second

Upvotes

I want to upgrade my pc (AMD 5 5600). I often find myself doing multicore physics simulations locally on my pc for testing purposes (I'm in the field of CFD). What processor should I look for to upgrade? At the moment, I am looking at the 9000 series (I am counting on a motherboard replacement). What would you recommend? Or would there be better options in the 7000 series?

EDIT: I didn't consider that an upgrade to DDR5 would be required for AMD 7000/9000. What would be alternative options when I want to stay on DDR4?

Tech Support New cpu = pc losing its mind?

Upvotes

After 8 years I decided to upgrade my CPU.

Old: AMD RYZEN 5 2400G

New: AMD RYZEN 7 5700

New CPU is compatible with motherboard , BIOS was updated and all drivers were updated too.

PC turns on just fine , temps are normal. It then randomly gives me these screens, every time with different stop codes. It goes into a reboot loop until it hits the blue recovery screen and then shutting down.

My SSD is new, my motherboard is new, my graphics card is only 3 years old (GTX 3060) my ram is new (32 gig) and I have a 750 PSU (gold).

I have no idea what the problem might be...

(I have also run scan in cmd to find corrupt files and fix them but that didnt seem to work)
