Taken today, we can see the band colors for Sir Nils (purple) and Connie (yellow). Sir Nils does some wing flapping before a couple of bachelor kings wander into the vicinity. They are told to keep moving by the expecting penguin parents.

Video taken last night, where it looks like our king penguin dad is saying, “I’m ready for egg duty!”

These eggs were laid last week, on the 24th and 27th of August, 2026.

As the parent begins to sense the hatching, they become more restless and rotate the eggs more often. Over the next 8-12 hours, we will see more breakage as the tiny penguin works to emerge. Hopefully the partner returns soon after to deliver the chick’s first meal!
