Has anyone tested this out ? Does it write like your typical Sharpie S Gel ? How is the hand feel ?

Seen it at Target while I was shopping around and stocking up on the trusty classics like Zento and Pilot.

I recently splurged and spent $28 on a new pen! Anyone who knows me IRL, knows I am super picky about my stationary supplies. I prefer refillable pens (especially for everyday note taking and work usage) and have been known to spend a chunk of change on a decent writing tool.

I recently got an amazing job opportunity and decided to celebrate by getting a new pen for the note taking I do at my desk. I went to a local stationary store that I frequent that allows people to test their pens. This pen stood out of the crowd for a lot of reasons.

The pen tip is accessed via twisting the other end of the pen clockwise, then returning it to the casing by turning counter clockwise. I hate messing with pen caps and the frustration of some decent pens when the pen cap doesn’t even fit snugly on the other end and it ends up loose on your desk. The twisting mechanism is unique and I haven’t seen a pen quite like this before! It’s fun to fidget with and seems well enough designed that I won’t wear it out just from playing with it.

The body is made from aluminum and brass which gives it a nice weight that isn’t too light or too heavy. A Goldilocks weight I’d say. The color variety I got is labeled “sage” which is a personal preference color for a lot of items in my life!

The ink is smooth and flowed right out of the package without much effort. It is very consistent with varied pressure and tilting, which is often something ballpoint pens fall short of. You tilt it to one side or another due to a change of hand position and the ink tends to “skip” when writing. I haven’t had much issue with that at all! The ink is also labeled as “document proof ink” with an ISO 12757-2 standard (which is considered archival ink quality, so no risk of fading in sunlight/long term exposure to any harsh fluorescent lights). I try to look for archival/lasting ink in certain products (especially with my professional art supplies) so this is just a bonus for my note taking at my desk job.

This will be perfect for note taking and keeping up with meeting minutes! I definitely think it’s well worth the cost and will be well loved. Welcome home little pen :)

Is there a ballpoint pen war?

I have already tried: isopropyl alcohol, purell and I scrubbed the shit out of my hand with body wash

I thought I'd share this here in case anyone else was interested in doing something similar.

I wanted a set of nice matching red and blue pens for work and I really like the body of the Rotring 600 - and the ballpoint version comes in both a red and blue body. However, I'm not a big fan of ballpoints and have been using Pilot V5 refills in my G2 for years which I love. So I decided to modify some refills to work in the Rotring.

For now the body is unmodified (although I may bore out the grip section so I don't need to modify the refills so much, undecided) and all I did was turned down the first step on the refill (second photo, modified refill on the right), cut it a bit shorter, and used the spring from a Pilot G2. Although I turned the end down on a lathe, you could probably just trim it with an exacto.

My friend gave me this pen about almost three years ago which she got from a friend of her's. She doesn't know where it was bought, unfortunately. I love the way it writes, and with how long it has been with me, I fear that the ink might run out. I have reversed image search it but nothing popped up that look exactly like it. I would really love to get more of these.

Several years ago when I was figuring out which inks I liked and didn’t like, I found I liked Jetstream black ink, esp. in a 0.7mm point. However I didn’t like the “blue” ink at all, it was so dark it was hard to distinguish from black. As a result I have some pens with Jetstream black ink (I also use Acroball black ink) but none with Jetstream blue ink.

Since I don’t see this mentioned elsewhere, could I have just gotten a bad batch of refills? Perhaps Jetstream blue isn’t so bad after all?

this is the second Pilot G2 05 ive had this happen to with no idea why.

I recently noticed the pen point of Pilot G2 07 was little sharper than the old one I had. I removed the refil and saw the body of the refil. It said Pilot G2 US and my older one said Pilot G2 Japan. I found the Japanese version to be smoother than the US version. Has anyone noticed this difference? How to make sure we buy the Japanese version if thats the preferred point/ink type?

My father gifted me this really old Staedtler pen that is currently housing a dried out Pelikan ballpoint refill, and no matter how much I try to google it, I cannot identify this exact model or if it even is a ballpoint pen or a rollerball one. My dad doesn't remember either. Does anyone recognize it? Thank you in advance!

Love the brass finish on the Bullet Journal edition, really liked the vintage aesthetic but its also really nice to write with. Hoping to add some more to the collection!

Since everyone enjoyed my last post on the Uniball zento (dubbed the corn pen) my wife decided to bedazzle her Uniball One P.

A few people mentioned in the last post about it being uncomfortable. Its really not bad at all, I mean I wouldn’t want to write a novel with it but Ive been using both now and you cant really feel it.

My SO got a book subscription box and it came with a handful of these pens. She really likes them, but they have no branding and neither does the cartridge.

Anyone here know what they might be? She‘s bummed that she might not be able to get more when they run out of ink or they get lost.

The finish in the black section of my sheaffer 300 pencil has become noticeably rough and appers to be deteriorating after only a couple of months of use(5) the metel clip area is fine

Could you please guide me on what happened and why and how can i fix it

Is it just me, or is the 0.5 mm needle-tip EnerGel black darker than the 0.5 mm Zento? The Zento also seems a bit grayer to me, maybe because of the way it reflects light.

i was wondering if i could get some recommendations for good nice ballpoint pens with a lot of craftsmanship put in them, i know of yard-o-led of course, and while their ballpoints look nice a lot of them look to have very thin grip sections which isnt great for me with my large hands. I really enjoy stuff thats made by talented artisans and was wondering if anyone had suggestions. no minimum price but at most like 600€.

So I’ve been collecting Parker’s for a year or 2 now. I go to flee markets and just buy them if I see them. I’ve given a lot to friend and family and kept a lot for myself but I don’t know if there is anything special here.
I paid roughly 20-25 for all of these through these 2 years so nog expecting much.

I've had this pen since around 2010, but I honestly don't know much about it. It says "Parker Sonnet France Y.11" on it.

Does anyone know what model this is or if it’s worth anything?

I bought Caran d'Ache 849 ballpoint pen not knowing it uses Caran d'Ache's proprietary Goliath style refills which are impossible to find in my country. It was very discouraging to read so many posts saying the solution is to cut or sand off 1-3 mm of a Parker G2 refill's plastic tip, since I prefer to make as few modifications as possible.

Fortunately, I am happy to share that Schneider Plug+Play line of refills which are Parker G2 compatible are apparently also compatible with Caran d'Ache 849.

I took the metal spring and refill from Schneider Gelion+ pen, placed 849's top cap so that its teeth grip between the plastic notches, then pushed and screwed it back onto the 849's body. The end result looks great: when the tip is extended, I can press very firmly without causing it to retract, and when the tip is retracted, it sits fully inside without peeking out.

Keep in mind that original Caran d'Ache 849 spring does not work - it's too large and prevents the cap from closing.

Can anyone recommend a good general spring set? I’ve been swapping springs between pens but it’s getting annoying. I’d love to purchase a set and draw from there instead of cannibalizing my other pens. I see a few options on Amazon but no idea how to choose. I primarily write with various metal ballpoint and rollerball pens with a Parker-compatible refill.
