We live in the northeast USA and we live an older apartment building. We’ve been living here for around a year and we never had a pest problem, we found this dude this morning and want to know what species this is so we can properly deal with them (found him high on our bedroom wall)

The security deposit is refundable but I have not been able to look at the apartment yet. I know that pest control is working on the infestation but I don’t know exactly what the infestation is. I’m thinking German roaches. The apartment manager said I can tour as soon as it is ready in a week or two. Is that long enough to actually get rid of the infestation? If not should, what should I look for when doing my tour to see if there is still an infestation? Lastly, if I see signs of an infestation could I still move in and use boric acid as well as gel bait? I know this sounds crazy but the apartment is really cheap and in an area I want to live in. I live in a students dorm, my room is 20 square meters and I have silverfishes on the walls and floors. I vacuum every 3 days and I also change the air a lot besides using traps since months and spray them. The problem is that this room has a lot of open spots in the walls near the ceiling and once they are in your room they don't go away. The dorm doesn't care. Is a dehumidifier my only hope? what do you think about COMFEE Dehumidifier 12 litres/day. Please let me know, I'm losing my mind they are disgusting.

One got trapped in a fruit fly trap and the second one was found dead on the floor. 4 days apart. I had DE (food grade) on the baseboards last week from Monday through Thursday pre-flea treatment which happened on Friday.

New apartment I moved to 2 weeks ago.

EDIT to say sorry i should have put a coin or something for scale! These are very small like the size of a gnat, couple of millimetres.

We’ve put out glue traps for fleas and caught these. Are they definitely fleas? I’ve been bitten in this house intermittently for a few years usually around summer, since I don’t stay in this house permanently (it’s my dads - and he doesn’t get bitten and if he does he doesn’t develop marks, I get huge red itchy welts) then it’s never really been dealt with. We suspected bed bugs so treated for that 2 summers ago and I wasn’t really in the house last summer.

We DO NOT have pets, never have, and previous owner didn’t either apparently. We don’t wear shoes indoors. The downstairs neighbour is very dirty though and has a dog that to be honest is always itching itself lol. If these photos do look like fleas, could they be coming from downstairs? In which case how to even solve this issue?

Also I am not in USA unfortunately, I am in Scotland and idek if pest control has expertise on this sort of thing cause all the info I read is for people with pets.

Living in a rental. The floor boards are like this from when the landlord got rid of the staircase between the upper and lower floors before our tenancy. We have seen black rats and caught 2 so far with peanut butter snap traps.

Trying to rat proof the possible entries. What would I do about the floor boards? Is it worth getting the landlord to repair and is there something I can block it with in the meantime?

I apologize for the bad quality of the picture. Found dead in front of my kitchen sink. I haven't seen any live ones in the day or at night. I have lids on every trash and don't leave food out for long. My kitchen has a lot of weird hollow spaces that I can't check, so I'm very concerned that I have some kind of infestation and want to react as fast as possible. Thank you!

I told them there was a rat outside, making a hole and what not, I could hear it at night. And now it's inside. I heard it move through the attic, which is right above my room. I'm tired and angry.

An exterminator came and literally did nothing except place sth to gauge the amounts of rats there may be. He said the quicker the device he placed disappeared, the more rats there'd be. He placed it in my garage and ignored the attic situation.

Now I heard more walking in the attic. I'm scared, tired, overwhelmed. Please be kind.

Hi everyone,

I adopted a stray cat that had fleas apparently and the vet gave her CapStar, but this only kills fleas that are on her alive and not the eggs. She had a spay neuter surgery today so flea baths are out to kill the eggs.

Does anyone have any idea what to do with A) the cat, and B) the room she was contained in? What works to get rid of the eggs ASAP?

They show up kinda near the window area. They seem to be able to jump and maybe have wings? i live in an old ass college dorm. I’m very anxious about this and not sure what to do next… please help!!

Hello everyone, I found that in my kitchen, it is roughly 2-3 mm long. Unfortunately I am also encountering cockroaches from time to time. I was wondering if one of them did lay its egg there or if it would be something else.

Sorry for the potato quality photos. Do these look like bed bug eggs? I know most of it is debris but there were small clusters that are difficult to see here. I lifted my couch cushion to vacuum and saw all of this underneath it. Bug infestations are one of my most debilitating phobias so I’m pretty unwell about it. I checked the cracks of my couch where the back conjoins and didn’t see any adults or poop but I’m pretty sure I saw a couple very small nymphs.

I was just quoted 1500$ for liquid treatment and baits stations around my house. The lot is 4200 sqft. My house was built in 2023. I wonder if I am over paying for this treatment. Should I get additional quotes? This work has only 1 year warranty. And after that If I want to continue having treatment then they charge 19$ per month.

I gave the 14 days post-treatment of keeping my kitchen relatively bare (I had a box of the things I use every day in there). I figured it was finally time to get my kitchen looking normal again, and opened the cupboard to give it a good wipe down before I put everything back - and there was a cockroach running around. By the time I got something to kill, it was gone. I live in an old apartment building and I think there are a lot of cracks that they can easily sneak through.

I am so upset by this. I thought this problem was solved and now my mind is thinking about how I may have to move from my rent controlled apartment and how I am now back to being afraid of using my kitchen.

I have made a maintenance request for them to come back and do another spray, but I'm in need of some support and advice. Is it normal to need more than one spray?
