My partner graduated with a degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, but her work experience is mostly in HR. She first worked for their family-owned Company 1, and later moved to their other family-owned company, Company 2, which is a consulting firm, where she also worked in HR.
I’m currently in the finance field.
Her mother suggested that she go to Australia to study and offered to cover her tuition fees. I’m planning to go with her and work there to help cover our daily expenses.
We’re trying to figure out what would be the best pathway for her to study in Australia, and what I need to do so I can accompany her and legally work there as well.

Alright so currently I'm in a state uni studying BSIT. I can tolerate coding but the nature of this work ensures that i won't be migrating to another country anytime soon.

My father is turning 66 and he worked for meralco in a respectable position so kahit papaano he still receives ~50k/month as pension, pero as we all know inflation is fucked right now so medyo gipit kami ng onti kasi:

1. 3 kaming magkakapatid. Si bunso nasa priv school. ung isa nmn na kapatid ko nag sci high gaya ko and nanay namin may lupus and stay at home. tapos ako walang manlang ambag at palamunin parin
2. My father's first marriage was "annuled" according to him pero he still gives around 8k per month to her as alimony kasi may agreement sila due to my mom being a concubine or someshi and he doesnt wanna be charged w concubinage

So now im thinking i gotta step up to the table n shi and give my family a better start elsewhere pero i think this path is not it kasi alam ko sa sarili ko i gotta be atleast 99 percentile in this field and tbh im not allat compared to the global market. I mean i get high scores sa mga coding sa papel and sa exams and presidents lister ako nung 1st year, kaso its not my passion talaga and id much rather do something else in my free time than solve Leetcode problems. i always wanted to do something hands one every since i was a kid eh

So anyways, should i just take the leap, cut my loses and drop out and pursue tesda, get experience then apply abroad, or is this just naivety on my part and mahirap talaga makaabroad kahit may experience kana. AND that i should stick on this BSIT path even though alam ko na mabuburnout ako in no time. I'm really lost and IDK WHAT TO DO. Sharing my timeline because I know how nerve-wracking the waiting game can be, and hopefully this helps anyone currently waiting for their Straight to Residence visa. 🥹

📌 July 24, 2026 – Submitted my Straight to Residence application under Green List Tier 1

📌 July 29 – An Immigration New Zealand officer contacted me regarding my application and requested additional health information, as well as my passport for scanning.

📌 July 31 – Completed the additional medical requirements and mailed my passport through NZPost

📌 August 5 – My updated health results were submitted through eMedical.

📌 August 7 – Got my passport back.

📌 August 31 – Called INZ to check on the status of my application and follow up.

📌 September 1 – Received my eVisa!!! 🎉🎉

Time flies fast! One year ago, I attended my NZ citizenship ceremony. 9 years ago, I landed in this beautiful country with just a head full of dreams.

Looking back, what a journey. Coming from PH province, broke poor, orphaned early, survived in scholarship during college and had very low salary in province. God blessed the broken road that lead me here in New Zealand. Bought my first car here and bought my first house too, things I just dreamed when I was in PH.

Hi! I’m preparing a Spain Digital Nomad Visa application from the Philippines and plan to apply through Manila/BLS.

I’ll be the main applicant as an independent contractor for a US company. My minor daughter will apply with me, and possibly my wife as well.

For anyone who applied recently through Manila/BLS, especially in 2025–2026:

1. Did your spouse/minor child need their own NIE before submitting the DNV application?
2. The Manila checklist mentions an “Income Statement, duly legalized and apostilled.” Did they specifically require a Philippine ITR/BIR return, or were contract + invoices + bank statements accepted?
3. For independent contractors, what did BLS/Consulate require for Social Security? Did you submit anything related to SSS, RETA, or a declaration to register in Spain?
4. If you qualified using 3+ years of professional experience instead of a degree, what proof did they accept?
5. Were you able to submit the main applicant and dependent applications together on the same appointment?
6. For PSA birth/marriage certificates, how recent were yours and did you apostille + translate them?

I’m hoping to hear specifically from people who went through Manila/BLS recently. Thanks!

Is there a plan from the Spanish government or from the parliamentary opposition like PP and Vox to directly attract licensed professionals from the Philippines like registered nurses and teachers through a work visa scheme, with a legal path for permanent residency and citizenship?

Just throwing this question out there and a bit of a rant, sorry: I know it's not applicable to all. Our daughter had to ask us why we no longer use the letter 'enye' and we told her that had to revert to the letter N/n because 'enye' is not accepted in the system here.

I'm sure in Spanish speaking countries it is widely accepted but here in Australia, we have to adjust.

I keep telling her to keep writing 'enye' but if it typed use 'N'.
