Workshop Protocols?

Do you multiply submit for workshop opportunities? If so, do you just let theater companies know you're doing this? Do you put a limit on how far a theater company is from you when considering workshops and submissions for productions?

It is none of their business what other submissions you are doing.

Plays often a developed through a number of programs and recieve more than one production.

It is only when negotiating terms for a premiere that you need to talk about any other committment.

For development, you might want to consider travel expense if the organization does not cover you.

For production, I would recommend not considering travel issues.

No, everyone submits for multiple things. The acceptance rate is so low that you can’t really do them one at a time or you’ll miss deadlines. If you get multiple opportunities you may be able to do both or you may have to choose. Cross that bridge when you get to it. 

I don’t worry about distance. Sometimes they cover travel, but if not that would factor into my decision about what opportunity to accept.
