Some of you may already be familiar with my Anki decks I shared here a few years ago for APMLE Part I, II, and III.

For those who aren’t: I originally created AdiPod while I was in podiatry school because I kept running into the same problem a lot of students have:

What am I actually supposed to study for boards?

Over time, I collected material from textbooks, lectures, question banks, videos, existing Anki decks, and my own notes/cards and organized everything into a larger study resource. After using it for my own boards, I cleaned it up, added my study recommendations, and shared it for free.

Since then, the deck has made its way around podiatry schools across the country, and I still occasionally hear from students and externs who tell me they used AdiPod while studying for boards.

So I decided it was finally time to build something more around it.

I just launched the AdiPod Instagram: @ AdiPod24.

The goal of the page is to take the same idea behind the original deck and expand it into an ongoing free podiatric education resource.

I’m planning to post things like:

APMLE / board review
High-yield anatomy and biomechanics
Radiology and imaging
Medicine and pathology
Foot & ankle surgery
Residency pearls
Study strategies and Anki tips
Updates to older AdiPod material as new literature comes out

One thing that’s important to me is that I don’t want the page to just recycle old board-prep material. As I develop posts, I’m going back through the original AdiPod deck and podiatric textbooks and cross-referencing the material with current literature so the account can hopefully be useful beyond simply memorizing answers for an exam.

The AdiPod decks and resources will continue to be free.

If you’ve used the deck before, I’d genuinely love to hear what helped, what could be improved, and what topics you’d like to see covered.

And if you’re a student, resident, or attending who enjoys teaching, I’d also love for this to eventually become a place where people contribute ideas and help improve the educational resources available to the next generation of podiatrists.

As part of the FY 2027 ICD-10-CM updates, the standalone code M72.2 (previously used for plantar fascial fibromatosis and widely applied to plantar fasciitis) is being deleted as a billable option and converted into a non-billable parent header. This shift is designed to introduce mandatory laterality (specifying left vs. right) and to separate two completely distinct medical conditions that previously shared the same space. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Any claims submitted using the old unmapped code for a date of service on or after October 1, 2026, will likely face immediate denial. [1, 2]

The New Replacement Codes

If you are updating your EHR templates, favorite lists, or superbills, you will need to replace M72.2 with the following highly specific codes depending on the clinical presentation: [1]

1. Plantar Fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is officially moving out of the fibroblastic disorders section and into its own category: [1]

• M67.A01 – Plantar fasciitis, right foot
• M67.A02 – Plantar fasciitis, left foot
• M67.A09 – Plantar fasciitis, unspecified foot [1, 2]

1. Plantar Fascial Fibromatosis (Ledderhose Disease)

If the actual diagnosis is true fibromatosis or plantar fibroma, you must use the updated fifth-character subcodes: [1, 2]

• M72.20 – Plantar fascial fibromatosis, unspecified foot
• M72.21 – Plantar fascial fibromatosis, right foot

Hi all! I’m just wanting to see how likely it would be that I get accepted to podiatry schools. I’m applying to all 11 of them (my number one school is LECOM) and here are my stats:

3.417 cGPA

3.2 sGPA

486 MCAT

No postbacc

Shadowed 2 podiatrists, have multiple years of clinical experience through EMT and also shadowed an RN for a couple of years. Also actively in two science related clubs at my university. Also got the opportunity to be in the OR watching podiatrists operate.

Have 2 LORs from 2 podiatrists and 2 LORs from two science professors (one is an MD).

I know my MCAT isn’t the strongest and neither is my science GPA but I figured I’d just apply anyways? Or should I just take a gap year?

Is this code still valid for US guidance of injections? If not, is there a more appropriate code?

My niece is moving overseas and is looking to sell her podiatry practice. It's been running for more thn 5 yrs and I'm considering taking it over. For those who have bought an existing practice, how did you figure out what is was actually worth? Did you look at % of collections, profit, patient volume?Also, would you keep the current staff and management or better change things? Trying to understand what I should be looking at before making an offer. Appreciate your answers!

Hi everyone! I just received my certification for Advanced Foot Care Nursing. I'm hoping to launch a side business involving seeing clients in the community (home care and nursing homes) soon but just looking for a little guidance if anyone can help out with a few questions...

1. I’m thinking starting with disposable supplies would be the best option… What supplies are pertinent to have in the beginning? l know a drill, disposable burrs, disposable files, nippers, black’s file, scalpels IPAC supplies and basic wound care supplies… is there any others that would be suggested, as well as other types of disposable burrs that would be recommended in the beginning? Supplies seem to be the biggest hurdle to get started due to the up front cost so I’m looking for basics to get started with the goal to continue to grow my inventory as I gain more clients.
2. What do most mobile nurses use for documentation, an EMR such as Accuro or Jane app? Or is this not feasible in the beginning?
3. What do nurses offer with their initial visit? I’m thinking comprehensive assessment including sensation (monofilament) and circulation assessment, skin and nail assessment, treatment plan recommendation and foot care education. What am I missing?

Any other tips of advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!

Hey everyone, I’m new to this Podiatry forum. My dream has been to go to dental school all my life. I’ve applied three cycles now and I have had no success getting in. At this point, I’m really considering switching to something else and Podiatry was on my mind as a potential option. How is the field of Podiatry? Is it worth it? My only worry is that I have zero experience in this field so I’m scared a school would have no interest in me. I’ve worked in the dental field for 7 years, so all my working experience has been in dental.

Fresh out of residency and been in practice for a month. I feel like there are some things that I can bill/code but I don’t know how to. Are there any courses you guys recommend that’s online?

My buddy think he is going to make 200-250k+ as a podiatrist. Is this accurate? I am looking to go to med school or pod school. From what I saw both are 4 years plus residency. Tuition is high for both but MD make way more. Still new to in researching the career, so I would really appreciate any insight here. And what are the major differences in careers? Hello! I wanted to know from everyone’s experience, how important clinical experience and non-clinical volunteering are. I have a 3.5 gpa and I’m hoping for a 505 on the mcat. I have 30 shadowing hours as well. Any help is appreciated, thank you!

I know a poster just mentioned paying off loans. Congratulations on such an accomplishment.

It is depressing though, to realize the average podiatry loan burden now is 271k with average salary of 156k.
How would anyone ever be able to pay these off? It’s depressing. As a resident I am just praying I can find another career because this is sad and it seems like there’s no payoff waiting for us at the end of residency like our MD//DO colleagues. Just more financial misery and stress.

***WARNING**** Not so humble brag post incoming. I just paid off my student loans today!!! $219,007.29 every single penny, feels like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I graduated in 2017 and got into the work force in 2020 after residency(semi rural setting). Didn't pay anything until October of 2023 (because of the COVID pause) and finally paid it off August 2026 so not quite 3 years. I also got another 2.7% in the surgery center that I already own shares in!!! Overall life is good. I know there are a lot of posts out there where they are miserable associates making $150,000 or less but if you are willing to be a good compassionate doctor, treat others well, and learn the business then you can be very successful in this wonderful profession!

Hello everyone I was wondering what people’s hours were for volunteering and clinicals to get into podiatry school.
I got my bachelors in biomedical and got a 3.7 gpa and I’m hoping I get a 510 on the MCAT I have also done 40 clinical hours as a CNA and was just wondering what I can do to strengthen my application.

I think podiatry school isnt really supposed to be taught as lecture heavy. + going to school for 8+ hours a day when you can study on your own takes away from key time

TL;DR — I need your help. I’ve emailed my MPP. I’ve submitted to the Ministry’s official consultation. I’ve backed the College of Chiropodists of Ontario’s own advocacy. Nothing has worked — form letters or total silence. The issue: since 1993, Ontario has banned new podiatrist (DPM) registrations, so Canadians who go to the US for a full surgical medical degree can’t come home and practice as what they’re licensed to do. The regulator that enforces the rule has told the government there’s no safety reason for it. The government still won’t act. I don’t think one more email from me changes that. I think a few hundred emails from Ontarians might. Scroll to “The ask” below — it’ll take you 5 minutes.

The rule, quickly
If you’re a Canadian who trains as a podiatric surgeon in the US (a DPM — 4-year medical degree plus 1-3 years of surgical residency), you cannot register as a podiatrist in Ontario. Hasn’t been possible since 1993. You get folded into “chiropodist” instead — a separate, more limited category — no matter what you’re actually trained and licensed to do.
Why the rule exists: cost control. Podiatrists could bill more than chiropodists, so the province froze the category in the early 90s. Not a safety decision — a budget line item nobody has revisited in 30+ years.
What the regulator itself says: the College of Chiropodists of Ontario — the body that enforces this — has told the Ministry of Health there is no sound public protection basis for the ban, and that after hosting a national conference of foot-care regulators in April 2025, they’re not aware of any opposition to lifting it. Their words. The government’s own regulator is telling them this rule doesn’t need to exist, and the government still hasn’t moved.
What it actually costs Ontario: its own trained surgeons. Someone grows up here, goes to the US because there’s no podiatry school in Canada, becomes a fully licensed surgeon, wants to come home — and Ontario tells them no, not as what you are. So they go to BC or Alberta instead, where they’re recognized at full scope, or they just stay in the US.
Recent movement, for context: January 2026’s “As of Right” legislation made it easier for chiropodists/podiatrists already licensed in other provinces to work in Ontario — a small step that does nothing for the registration cap itself. Then in May 2026, the Ministry explicitly declined to expand chiropody/podiatry scope further, saying the current model stays “while system-wide priorities are reviewed.” No date attached.
Why I’m asking instead of explaining more
I’ve done the individual-advocate playbook: MPP email, formal consultation comment, backing the College’s submission directly. I got a form acknowledgment at best. A single constituent letter is easy for a ministry to file and forget. I don’t think explaining this issue better is what’s missing — I think volume is what’s missing.
The ask
If you’re in Ontario and think this is as dumb as I do, please do one (or more) of these — five minutes, genuinely:
1. Email your MPP. Find yours at ontla.on.ca/web/members/members_current.do. Say you support ending Ontario’s 1993 freeze on DPM podiatrist registration, and ask them directly why the province hasn’t followed BC, Alberta, and Quebec.
2. Email the Minister of Health’s office and quote the College’s own position back to them: their regulator says there’s no safety basis for this, and the government still won’t act.
3. Tell a reporter. CBC, CTV, your local paper — pitch it as “Ontario won’t let its own trained surgeons come home.” If you know a reporter or a health-policy desk, even better.
4. Watch for the next Ontario Regulatory Registry consultation window (ontariocanada.com/registry, and the College of Chiropodists’ site) and actually submit a comment when it opens — that’s the one channel with a formal paper trail.
5. Share this post. One ignored email is easy to shelve. A few hundred, plus a news story, is a lot harder to.
I’m not trying to convince anyone this is a real problem — the province’s own regulator already agrees it is. I just need it to stop being something the Ministry can quietly shelve every time it comes up, and that takes more than one person.

I read this article and said the following to myself: "that is ridiculous." If a nail is yellow, it is fungus 98% of the time. There is no need, in my opinion, to do any kind of testing as 50% of the time it comes back "no fungus." These tests are a waste of time and money when the treatment works no matter what the test results or nails look like.
 
As I have mentioned before, my cure rate for nail fungus was 90% plus, and now with my new protocols, I am at 95% and I have cut down the treatment time by 20 to 30%. Average clearance time is now approaching 2 months for small toes and 3 months for halluces.

To all who reply seriously: this was a shitpost about toenail fungus because who gives a fuck about it.
