I designed and built this table as a gift for a friend a few years back. I've had so many requests to build more that I finally took the leap and created a company and figured out a way to make these at small scale, but still keep each one custom for the owner.

This is a different approach than the vinyl oval racetracks. It's an heirloom piece of furniture with a corresponding price tag. I understand this is a niche product to begin with, but I'm curious what might make you purchase something like this over the more standard tables on the market. Or maybe the price point just makes it unrealistic?

For context, this will start at a limited edition price of $9K and eventually land at a standard price of $12K down the road.

I only got into poker like 3 years ago, so i haven't been around for the "glory days" - anyone who is around for longer and knows more than me, where does this rank in terms of all time high stakes sessions?

Texas Mike must have inherited a billion dollars. Tries to bluff Wass with complete air when flush draw comes in. Wass has 4th nuts and faces 1.6 million dollar all in. Mike complains about begin nitrolled after Wass calls then the very next hand Robl gets AK and Mike gets Kings. All in for over 2 million pot and Mike demands to run it only one time.

We obviously don’t play anywhere close to these stakes, but this is the closest I’ve ever seen high-stakes players have emotions that I can relate to. I like it way more seeing that losing money means somethng.

There’s two limps, and I make it 5bb with 6h6c in the CU. The button calls, and now the SB 3bets to 15bb. BB cold calls, limpers fold, I call, and the button comes along as well.
(62bb in pot) flop comes 6s3sJh. Action checks to me and I bet 39bb looking to build this pot right away. Button folds, SB calls and the BB folds.

Heads up to a turn (141bb in pot) and it comes the Ks. The SB now donks for 47bb. I call.

Now 235bb
The river is the 8h and now the SB goes all in for 150bb. Interesting spot wondering your guys thoughts on this hand

Turn is a 5h giving me fours full of fives. I check OOP he bets 1.1, I xr to 5.5, he calls. Pot is 12.8

River is a Qh, I overbet for 20. he reshoves for 44. At this point I'm not loving up but at this point I am never folding. He shows Q-5c for fives full of queens.

Not sure if my river sizing is ideal for a bare 5 to call and whether we only get better hands to rejam against us. And if we can make an exploitative fold on the river here vs these loose passive players.

Are there any free or cheap learning apps for poker?
I tried lately Runout and Preflop wizard. Especially the first one was cool, like a duolingo for poker.

After learning the game and getting a bit more comfortable with it, I’m finally feeling confident enough to start playing online poker with real money.

For those who’ve been playing for a while, what stakes would you recommend starting with? Any general advice for a beginner making the switch to real-money games, especially when playing on online poker sites?

There is a WSOP circuit coming to Elizabeth, IN that I’m planning on playing in. I have never played a larger tourney like this live. I just saw the schedule and I’m planning on playing in the mini main. Which flight would be the best to join? They have four day 1s. Two flights start at 11am and two start 4pm.

Also it says the starting stack is 20k and but the other mini mains that’s going on now and until the one I’m playing at has like 30k starting stack so I thought that was strange.

What do you guys say should be your Bankroll for MTT‘s? And what would you say are the advantages/disadvantages oposed to cashgames? Would you say one is „safer“ or long term more profitable?

There’s a hand that’s a legend at this point in my family and I’d love to find the footage of it. It was a televised event around the mid 2000s. I think it was the final table and legend has it, it was even the final two people, basically a guy hits a one outer 5 of Diamonds to make his straight flush and win. Probably a long shot but this would be legendary to find the footage. Any ideas?

I will start. The first thing I would tell them is to understand just how beatable low stakes live cash games like 1/2, 1/3 and even 2/5 are. Convince them! Then I'd advise them to learn everything they can about becoming a solid TAG (Tight Agressive) player.

I've noticed something quite often when watching GG Poker streamers. Some of them seem to be profitable overall in cash games mainly because of jackpots, rewards, promotions, etc., while their actual cash game results (before rewards) are negative.

Is this actually common on GG Poker?

Is it really that difficult to be profitable from the cash game itself, without relying on rewards, jackpots and promotions?

I'm asking because I've seen several examples like the one in the screenshot, where the player's overall profit is positive, but the "Games" result is significantly negative and most of the profit comes from rewards/jackpots.

I'm curious to hear from regular GG Poker cash game players: how much of your long-term profit comes from the game itself versus rakeback/rewards/promotions?

I’ll be staying overnight for work in the area and looking to play Wed and Thurs while I’m there.

I typically play 1/2 at Twin River where the max buy is now $500, so the games play fairly deep.

Typically, I only buy in for $300.

When playing Chasers, if buying in for $300, should I stick to 1/2 where $300 is the max or step up to 1/3 (still for $300) since I’m used to deeper games already?

I know buying in for less than max is not +EV but I’m still a fairly new player and that is what I’m comfortable losing at this time in a single session, so it is my personal max while I get more comfortable at the table.

Hey everyone, looking for some perspective on how I should view poker moving forward.

My Background & Results So Far:

• 2024: Started playing live $2/$2 cash. Went on a losing streak, lost about $900 AUD total, and took a long break.
• Early 2026: Decided to actually learn strategy. Started playing again (Friday & Saturday nights only). Had a great start—up $600 in 2 weeks. Used that money to buy gifts for my girlfriend and parents, which felt awesome.
• Recently: Just flew back to Australia after a trip to China. Played 2 sessions, played well and made what I believed were standard/correct plays, but lost $450 AUD total.

My Current Situation & Local Pool Frustrations:

• Income: I have a stable job making ~$70k AUD/year in Adelaide. Decent middle income, though limited upside for promotions. (For context: Australia taxes income over $45k at ~32%, whereas recreational gambling wins are tax-free here).
• The Local Scene: Playing live in Adelaide feels brutal for reasons outside of just variance. There’s basically one casino, tables are super limited, and out of 1.5 million people in the city, the active poker pool feels like under 100 players. It’s full of local regs trying to use fancy GTO strategies to battle over tiny pots.
• Logistics: Driving out, parking, and food costs me ~$50 AUD every time I go. At $2/$2, those travel/food logistics eat up a massive chunk of any potential edge or win rate.
• No Addiction Issues: I don't gamble outside of poker, don't play money I can't afford to lose, and took a multi-month break before with zero issue. I genuinely love the game, the math, and the strategy.

My Dilemma & Question for You: I love poker, but I feel stuck at a crossroads with my attitude toward it:

1. Should I accept that Adelaide $2/$2 isn't worth taking seriously due to the high rake, small pool, and travel costs—and just treat it strictly as a fun, paid-entertainment hobby (like playing video games or going out for drinks)?
2. Or is it worth investing real time into GTO solvers, exploitative adjustments against small-pool regs, and treating it as a disciplined, part-time side hustle?

For those who have played in small, reg-heavy local pools or transitioned from casual to part-time: What attitude/mindset should I adopt toward poker at this stage in my life?

Playing 1/2 live, 300 effective

UTG strdl $5, MP calls, I raise to 15 with AKcc from the HJ, Btn raises 45, Cutoff calls. This is an easy 4 bet spot but Im not gonna lie I had felt I miss played a couple hands that session and was a little off my game, when that happens I often start playing passive, it's the closest I get to going "on tilt" but anyway I decide to just flat the 45 and go 3 ways to a flop

Flop(135) As5s2s, cutoff and I check, BTN checks back.

Turn(135) 7c, cutoff and I check again, BTN bets 35, cutoff folds, I call

River (205) 9d, I check, BTN all in for 219...

Easy call? What hands could he have? He checked back the flop after 3 betting on a montone board, no way he flopped a flush right?

I'm really curious. Do poker players play fantasy football? What percent of players crossover and do both you think? This highstakes draft got me thinking that maybe some of these fantasy footballers are actually poker gamblers as well.
