Stiletto Pivot

I’m just super excited about this pivot on the stiletto! I usually only glide on it because I could never find the right amount of pressure or angle for it to not slip from under me!

I felt disrespected by my pole teacher

So, context: I live 15 minutes away from my pole studio by foot. I live in a tropical, very hot country, and my pole studio is kind of like a garage, with tall metal doors that completely cover two of the four walls. There are no windows and no AC, only one fan.

Two weeks ago, I went to class and they had already started. I decided to turn on the fan because it was 27°C at 9 a.m., and I had just walked 15 minutes to get there. It was incredibly hot, and the teacher had already let me turn it on other times, so I thought it was okay to just go and turn it on without interrupting her class.

She said, "You just got here and you're already turning the fan on?" in front of everyone. I tried not to escalate anything, so I said, "It's hell outside," and laughed. Then she said, "But it's not in here," again in front of everyone. The class went completely silent.

I went through a very traumatic period in my life when people put me in humiliating situations because I was a foreigner, and I developed horrible social anxiety from it. It took me years to recover. So that situation made me feel awful and humiliated. I left as soon as class ended because I felt so uncomfortable.

Today I went there again. I brought a hand fan with me so I wouldn't need to touch hers, but obviously it wasn't enough. By the end of the stretching section, I took about a 30-second break because I was so hot that I couldn't continue. It was literally just 30 seconds. I've seen people do it all the time. I didn't got up or disturbed anyone, but she made sure to point it out, and again, everyone in class was looking at me like I was doing something wrong.

Now I don't feel comfortable there anymore. I feel like anything I do will become a reason for her to draw negative attention to me. I don't mind people telling me I did something wrong, I will listen and apologize, but I hate when being called out in front of everyone like that for something so silly. I wanted to know if you guys think I'm overreacting, or if I should talk to her and tell her that it's making me really uncomfortable.

So... What's your studio's social situation?

Bit of a rambling thought train, but I'm thinking about switching studios to alleviate some social anxiety I've been having, and I'm really interested in hearing other people's experiences and opinions.

I've been going to the same studio for at least 6 years, with a few 6-8 month breaks here and there.

It's a really friendly place, familiar and relatively comfortable to me by now. There's a real focus on positivity and I've never had an issue with the studio or anyone who goes there.

That said, I'm not a very outgoing person and I'm rather awkward so I prefer to keep to myself. I'll always smile and try to be really friendly when I'm engaged, say hi to people I encounter and I genuinely like everyone I've met, but I really struggle beyond small talk so I don't actively seek out extended encounters.

I've noticed over the past 12 months that almost all of the other students and teachers seem to be really close and socially active with each other. Everyone seems to be up to date with each other's personal lives, I found out recently that there're sometimes social events at the studio, everyone just seems like they're legitimately friends.

It's not that I feel left out, sometimes I lament not having the ability to form friendships but I know what I'm like.

I started thinking... Is it weird that I still go here?

I'm a stranger who drops by a few times a week. Seeing the way everyone else interacts with each other makes me feel like an outsider infiltrating a private club and I started wondering whether my presence might make others uncomfortable, like "oh the quiet lady with weird vibes is in today"

6 years. Half a decade. No pals, no pole buddy.

Am I a weirdo? Is it super common for studios to have such a close community?

What's your studio like and do you think it's odd to not have a personal relationship with anyone where you've been training for a long time?

Idk if I'm overthinking and whether changing studios is necessary, I just feel sooo embarrassed and like I shouldn't be there lol.

TL;DR been going to the same studio for ages, no dramas, but everyone's real chummy with eachother, I keep to myself, and I'm wondering whether having attended for so long without forming any friendships makes me a weirdo for still going there and whether I might lowkey be unwelcome - want perspective

Looking for dancers who want to test/rep something we made specifically for us 👀

I’ve posted in here before while developing these, and after a ridiculous amount of samples/changes they’re finally almost here 🥹

I’m looking for a few dancers/content creators who actually work in the industry and would be interested in trying them + potentially repping the brand.

They’re basically a performance thong made specifically with dancers in mind — super minimal under outfits, but with a built-in protective gusset.

And they’re NOT just for your period.

I wanted something we could wear for:

🩸 Period/spotting backup — especially if you already use a tampon or disc

💧 Discharge + everyday leakage — because… obviously lol

👀 An extra protective barrier between you and the customer — because if you know, you KNOW.

The goal was NOT to make something that looks or feels like period underwear. I wanted something I would actually wear at work without changing the look of my outfits.

We made two versions: clear straps for when you basically want them invisible, and black fabric straps for a more traditional thong look.

Right now I’m looking for girls who are comfortable making content, giving honest feedback, and — if you genuinely like them — sharing them with your audience. There will also be opportunities for personal discount codes + commission.

If you’re interested, comment or DM me your IG/TikTok 🖤

And even if you’re not an influencer but you dance, I want to know:

Would you wear something like this at work? And which reason would you use them for most — period backup, discharge, or that extra barrier? 👀

Training Space Warm ups… is this studio a bit shit?

I’ve semi joined a new studio and I feel like maybe it’s not great so just checking my intuition.

I’ve been to a few classes at a new studio after taking a year off to have a baby. Last night we did a low flow class where there were a lot of rolls, a twisted grip… all fine to do, other than the fact the warm up barely touched the shoulders. It was more of a general get your body warm with a few arm circles. My neck is feeling it today obviously. I also feel like the proper technique of shoulder roll wasn’t run through, it’s obviously been a while and I felt very rusty.

I also felt like this at the trick classes, it really doesn’t feel very targeted at the movements we’re doing. Am I expecting too much? Should I keep looking for a better studio?

Instalment Question Urgent

Hi all

I have ordered Xpole tension pole static plus spin.

I live in a building constructed before 1960. Apt is on 4th floor carpeted. Under the carpet is visible cement on all floors all apartments.

Maintenance man earlier said we will have to find beam tho, and tension pole should be good.

Now he isn’t comfortable helping find the stud as he is saying we don’t have insurance to cover a roof breaking .

What should I do?

Body Talk Cried after class, trying to stay motivated

Y'all, I've taken over 30 classes of pole and I normally am able to do good. Today, I felt like my body wasn't working with me at all. The teacher wanted us to do a headstand/shoulder stand into a pole sit into a climb into a specific spin, and we've literally never done anything that complicated before. I'm sure it was fine because everybody else was doing it no problem, but I couldn't even get into the shoulder stand because I felt so weak in my shoulders. I tried to do a pole sit and I kept sliding. I do have pole grip, but even that wasn't helping very much. I literally just sat in the corner and tried not to cry at one point because I was so overwhelmed. I feel so embarrassed.
