You do not fuck with the American people.

Sadly I think the last decade has very much shown you can, and you will get away with it, and you will not end up in prison.

If Jan 6th - an actual fucking attempt to overturn a democratic Presidential election you know the entire raison d'être the US is based on - wasn't the thing that got Americans to hold politicians accountable nothing is.

This...I'm still not done with J6. None of the leadership is behind bars.

Progressives were warning people about how the tiny baby sentences for the Jan 6ers were just slaps on the wrist.

Nothing will happen to any of them. There is no enforcement mechanism, therefore lawlessness continues to be tolerated and now appears to be encouraged.

They’ve been fucking with the American people for years. Crickets.

It’ll continue.

Well there is an...enforcement mechanism...but most people are too lazy to actually get up and do it as long as the bread and circuses keep coming.

No bread, only circus.

I like your optimism, but even if we win this next election, that decision is going to be up to the DNC... They have not historically shown themselves to have the Moxie to prosecute political crimes. I hope you're right, but my expectation given the last 20 years is that the populace shows up for the Democrats, gives them a solid sweeping mandate, and they'll turn around and go "Now is the time for looking forward..." And then we'll be back here in another 8 years.

they'll turn around and go "Now is the time for looking forward..."

Trump caught two federal indictments, a Georgia RICO case, and a felony conviction in New York. The accountability you're saying Dems won't pursue was already running.

What shut it down wasn't the DNC losing its nerve. It was voters putting him back in office, which ended the federal cases the week after the election. So the scenario you're predicting already happened once, and the electorate is what stopped it.

If we're back here in 8 years it'll be the same mechanism. That's a turnout problem, not a moxie problem.

Thank you!

I'm constantly saying this. I'm all over reddit trying to counter this "there's no consequences, the law is dead, no one was held accountable and never will be" bullshit. That and the "Americans aren't doing anything to counter Trump" bull. The doomerism is lazy and ignores facts and reality It's really, really nice to see someone else say it.

The Constitution /Justice system didn't fail us. We failed it. That matters because the outcome is within our control again now. Believing nothing matters is the exact opposite of what is needed.

The Constitution /Justice system didn't fail us. We failed it.

Then do better next time, because you're doing a terrible job

Ok 4Head

That matters because the outcome is within our control again now.

I'm not sure that's actually true, since the Rs are clearly fucking with your election.

The real question is whether Americans will do anything if this next election truly is stolen. Call it doomerism if you want, but nothing I've seen suggests Americans are willing to do anything in excess of a weekend protest parade. I would love to be proven wrong.

Importantly: Vote regardless.

It's DEFINITELY a moxie problem.

The DNC, Biden, and Merrick Garland all failed us.

Trump was indicted and arraigned on 37 counts before the election, in addition to his felony conviction.

Judges have still done alot of good work to defend democracy and my money is on them as well. Congress not as much until we remove middle dems.

Well, we can send them a few cases of soda then.

You do not fuck with the American people.

Empty boast. The leader of the 2020 coup attempt is currently the President. Nothing was done. Nothing will be done when he does it again.

u/Lazy_Wasp_Legs 6h ago

Look around... the American people are by far the easiest to fuck with because we keep telling ourselves this absurd lie that we are "not to be fucked with" which is nothing but empty fantasy and escapism created by the people that get dominated the most.
