To no one’s surprise.

u/stevez_86 Pennsylvania 7h ago

Well the Supreme Court has been ruling that absolutely no one has claims to damages from actions by the President.

The Supreme Court is telling Trump to ask for forgiveness instead of permission, because these is no one to demant forgiveness.

We live in a new country. One where the Supreme Court is giving their party an upperhand in shaping. Ad Hoc, no one can say Trump is harming them because the Supreme Court believes the President is infallible in that it would actively harm the institution to allow anything to abridge their authority. The idea that in the midst of calamity the President must have the utmost authority or else domestic instigators could thwart the President's ambition to save the country. And if it is a Democratic President then it is the government's job to stop them from acting. The Supreme Court, without saying it, is saying that the Democrats are the enemy of their forming nation and as a result they have no rights in the eye of the Federal Government.

u/aerost0rm 7h ago

Sad part is that their new country won’t come together because their entire regime is crumbling. So they are wasting time on this downfall to just milk the gifts.

Edit for conclusion.

u/tryexceptifnot1try 7h ago

It's obvious, the closer we get to that glorious day, that they have no answer after Orange Foolius kicks the bucket. He hasn't let them sniff a succession plan due to his extreme narcissism and seems to be genuinely baffled by his own mortality. It's going to be wild how fast this all collapses after the final thrust from McDonald's finishes the job

u/Redcrux 7h ago edited 7h ago

they don't need a successor, because by the time old mc donald dies he will have accomplished their goal. The goal being to expand the powers of the executive branch and diminish the powers of the other two branches and elections so much so that the entrenched republicans can install whoever they want as their real leader. It's going to be wild when someone completely unknown by the public just gets sat up on the throne using all of Trumps actions as historical precedent.

u/TrulyOutrageous42 5h ago

You really need to look into the butterfly revolution. These people are behind Project 2025 just as much as Heritage Foundation is. Palantir is part of it all. They intend to usurp the Constitution in favor of corporate city-states akin to company towns using local crypto as company scrip. They'll put all the undesirables (read: dissenters, non-whites, queer folk, and the disabled) into varying forms of servitude, and that's not speculative - VP Bowman endorsed "Unhumans" in which the central argument is that anyone left of conservative doesn't deserve human rights or legal protections.

They've been setting up a coup for 50 years. They're not going to let it all fall apart just because their vessel of corruption died. That's the entire point of having Peter Thiel's puppet as VP.

This idea would have gotten traction with the collapse of the Soviet Union. What did it collapse into? A state that people, like Reaganites, would aspire to create. Putin owns not the people of Russia, they volunteer that due to the futility of resistance, but he owns the Russian market. You want to do business in Russia? Putin needs his secret cut so that you can have access to his market. It mobster stuff but on a national scale. A new doctrine.

The thing that held what we had together were the alliances and free-ish trade deals between the Allied Nations and adopters of their doctrine after WWII. Which largely left Russia/Soviet Union out. They persisted and remained stable, until they weren't, then stable again, without the people of Russia hardly getting involved, or the resistance that occurred internally was dominated. With all power and access to wealth ultimately tied to one person and a population that was on the brink of nuclear apocalypse and saw no bang thinking, "meh, whatever, let me know when the bombs drop." Then what is the point to having a resistence if the master is letting out a helping hand for compliance anyway.

Trump dominated the US through dominating the media and he did so by licensing the method that Russians have developed to maintain their status quo. Because Trump was shitting himself at the idea of nuclear apocalypse too. All Americans at that time were. And so were the Russians that just let Putin happen.

Trump is a franchisee of the Putin Doctrine. That is all. And it isn't a nefarious plot to extort him either. Trump sees the same kind of mark Putin did. We could be dominated just like Russia because of the shared Cold War experience of the Baby Boomers.

But that time is running out. Russia got in real early. America is late to the trend. The Baby Boomers only have 15-25 years left and each year until the end of their mortality tables the population of marks go down. Their time is running out to use this ploy. Because the audience that will readily accept it is getting too old. That is why Trump is moving so quickly.

It really is funny that he believes he has a chance. This asshole fought one war and lost badly to a country spending 3% of the money on defense. His political career will never recover nationally. It shows how delusional these fuckers are

u/obeytheturtles 4h ago

It's particularly glaring when taken next to how they ruled on Biden's student loan cases. They granted standing to a bunch of states which had literally nothing to do with any federal student loans, then upheld a universal injunction via "major questions doctrine," then declared the executive did not have to power to do something specifically allowed by statute.

With Trump they declared universal injunctions unconstitutional, and have refused to grant standing to parties directly impacted by clearly unconstitutional acts.

u/stevez_86 Pennsylvania 4h ago

Heads we win, tails you lose. Because the Supreme Court already sees Democrats as their enemy.

Trump is a king to Republicans and people that voted for him and a mandated oppressor to the people that voted against him. Because the Republicans know the game the Supreme Court wants to play they get them the cases they want and in return they get liberty. It isn't freedom.

They have already jumped the ship onto a vessel where we are all inherently guilty and it is the populist men elected that enforce who gets punished.

u/SerOsisOfThuliver 6h ago

the Democrats are the enemy of their forming nation and as a result they have no rights in the eye of the Federal Government

the second american revolutiion will be bloodless if the left allows it to be

u/TehMikuruSlave Texas 4h ago

We live in a new country. One where the Supreme Court is giving their party an upperhand in shaping.

Unfortunately this is the country we've always lived in, this is just the most recent example of the insane shit the court will do and then laugh at the citizens. Remember, this is the same court that previously interred us citizens in concentration camps during ww2 simply because they had japanese ancestry. Dredd Scott said children of American slaves weren't citizens. Even in the past, when the court has stepped in correctly, like telling Jackson the trail of tears was insanely illegal and he couldn't forcibly relocate tens of thousands of native americans to reservations, they just sat on their hands when the president told them to fuck themselves. The court has always been on the side of capital

u/stevez_86 Pennsylvania 4h ago

Buck v Bell is still precedent. States, from the eyes of the Federal Government, can forcibly sterilize people that they don't want to reproduce. It wasn't until 1997 that the last state passed a law to forbid that. And Lousiana was looking into repealing theirs.

The Supreme Court is helping Antebellum Idolizers force the questions that will force them to create more precedent.

u/LEDKleenex 6h ago

US citizens continue doing next to nothing to resist the fascist takeover, continue to fork over their money and labor to complicit companies and get very comfortable in their chains because it's more convenient to do nothing.

Nope, not shocked in the slightest.

u/VocalCord 5h ago

This is the most infuriating thing about it all. A couple of weekend parades?? Like are you fucking serious??! Defend yourselves!

u/rentedtritium 5h ago

Yes it's very easy to say that other people should die in the streets for you immediately, but reality is more complicated.

u/rentedtritium 4h ago

You seem extremely confident that you know what everyone is and isn't doing. Judging millions of people for what you imagine they're thinking and doing is real stupid.

u/LEDKleenex 4h ago

The results speak for themselves. When I have people lobbing their excuses at me instead of working to fix their problems, the outcome is patently clear.

u/rentedtritium 4h ago

When I have people lobbing their excuses at me instead of working to fix their problems

Those don't happen in the same place or time. You're seeing people make excuses on reddit, and that somehow means that nobody is doing anything in a completely different place and time?

It's just assumptions and imagination with you. There are huge problems with how people are reacting, but what you're arguing is stupid and worthless.

u/[deleted] 4h ago

u/rentedtritium 4h ago

Again, you cannot really tell from reddit posts what people are doing. You simply don't have the data you think you do and you're being incredibly judgemental about people in another country in a rocky information environment.

The way you assume you know everything I am and am not doing based on a few reddit replies is just pure 100% jackassery designed to help you feel superior.

Our protest rights have been eroded as well. In my lifetime we went from protests that were impactful to "Free Speech Zones." Now, if you want to protest something, you have to do it off to the side, out of the way. Get permits and do a "weekend parade," as it were.

Just as the Ukrainian military now has to show our troops how to use their own tech, we need The French to teach us how to stand up to the regime with our own freedom that we have forgotten how to use.

u/LEDKleenex 4h ago

Protests aren't really doing anything anyway. The wealthy know you'll go home and continue to slave away and consume. They probably even know you'll hop over to Walmart to buy some art supplies for your next witty sign to use at the next "protest" in three months.

You need to be boycotting and striking at a minimum.

u/Quotizmo New Jersey 4h ago

BDS all day every day. Although, if you stand up for that in America, you'll swiftly find yourself fired or disciplined for opposing apartheid.

u/LEDKleenex 4h ago

You're telling me that resisting a fascist takeover has some risks? What a revelation! I guess everyone should just roll over and accept the risks that come with allowing a fascist takeover instead!

u/bdeimen 3h ago

Most Americans would be unable to pay their basic living expenses if they went a week without work. Meanwhile, federal safety net programs have been gutted meaning there's less support for those without work. This isn't just about some risk. This is about people fearing for their survival.

u/Quotizmo New Jersey 2h ago

I'm advocating for standing up. You seem to be fomenting discord in the comments. How does that help?

u/bucolucas 1h ago

"Defend yourselves" like there's any organization that is forming allowing us to do that. Like any group that gets more than 15-20 members won't be immediately shut down.

Care to expound past "defend yourselves" and come up with actually useful advice? It feels like the Kevin Costner version of Robin Hood where his friend "helps" him by telling him to punch harder and dodge faster.

Almost like they know nothing will happen to them and the elections will just happen even if no ballots get sent out. Nothing like this admin has happened before and our democracy is being tested

u/bazinga_0 Washington 8h ago

This midterm election is going to be a pass/fail exam of our republic. If Trump and his Republicans get their way then it will be a fail and our republic will no longer exist. This is it citizens! What kind of country do you want going forward: a democratic republic or a dictatorship/oligarchy? Pick one.

u/PoliticsLeftist 7h ago

Our republic already failed by electing a child raping felon into the white house.

This is the test for full blown fascism.

u/gelatineous 7h ago

You are failed when gou reelected a coup plotter. Of course you'll have another coup.

u/rakerber 6h ago

No, we didn't fail then. We failed because the online left fell for the most obvious Russian propaganda campaign to get people not to vote I have ever seen. I called it in November of 2023 that the online left would use Gaza as an excuse to elect Trump and I was right.

Can't wait for the next bullshit reason the left uses to let the Republicans win

u/CloudTransit 6h ago

The online left? The online left is why Biden stayed in the 2024 race, until it was too late to mount a competitive primary? No way.

u/HawgChuggins 6h ago

The same left calling him a genocider? That same left? That same left that fell for the "No Primary" (ignoring that if Biden had kicked the bucket, it'd be President Kamala), the same left that gate crashed election events screeching about Gaza, but now they are as silent as the Gazan dead? That left?

The same left that is now doing some very unearned victory laps now that DSA candidates are winning? That left? The same left that repeated the same, "She's a cop"?

Nah, the left was begging to lose 2024. Or even worse they thought Trump would lose and then they could spend the next four years haranguing the new Dem administration.

u/bdeimen 3h ago

Give me a break. The 2024 election had one of the highest turnouts of the century. The Democrats have run bad campaign after bad campaign. Blaming the left is copium.

u/HawgChuggins 2h ago

4 million leftists sat at home in 2024. So no. Blaming the left is not copium. But I digress.

What is Gaza saying these days? Let's listen, I'll admit that translation may be a little off, seeing as how I can't speak with the dead. What about the VRA, that's safe right? What about food security, and reproductive rights? Those are still the law of the land right?

Leftists keep asking for shit, but then don't show the fuck up when it counts. Leftists are not the stars when it comes to getting Trump elected again, but they certainly have a co-starring role.

u/bdeimen 2h ago

4 million leftists sat at home in 2024

Got a citation for that number?

Because if not, this:

What is Gaza saying these days? Let's listen, I'll admit that translation may be a little off, seeing as how I can't speak with the dead. What about the VRA, that's safe right? What about food security, and reproductive rights? Those are still the law of the land right? Leftists keep asking for shit, but then don't show the fuck up when it counts. Leftists are not the stars when it comes to getting Trump elected again, but they certainly have a co-starring role.

is irrelevant garbage.

u/HawgChuggins 1h ago

I mean you can just compare the numbers your damn self. Trump's numbers didn't move, but Kamala has 4 million less.

Strange, didn't you just say there was no significant loss of leftists? 4 million seems to be a MASSIVE fucking number. Especially when four years before Biden got 81 million as opposed to Kamala's 77 million. It's simple math, 81-77= 4 million. You lot keep trying to avoid the blame you share with child rapist worshipping MAGAts.

What were your weak excuses? Her support of genocide? When she had already stopped taking AIPAC donations, had stopped speaking at AIPAC events, was openly calling Gaza a genocide, and was spearheading the pier to get supplies to the Palestinians.

No primary? You mean we had no primary for the incumbent president, and if he had kicked the bucket it would still be Kamala?

She was a cop? You just completely ignore any context of her prosecutions and the cases she prosecuted.

I did what I was supposed to, I voted for Kamala because she was the best path forward. You lot were fooled by propaganda that didn't hold up to the lowest level of scrutiny. You got duped by divide and conquer and you haven't learned. That's why you called everything that we've lost as Americans and the world as a whole, irrelevant.

TLDR: You spoiled children have a co-starring role in re-electing the child raping con man.

u/rakerber 6h ago

Do you spend any time here? People STILL talk about Gaza as the most important issue. AIPAC is going to be used as an excuse to let Republicans win in races they shouldn't this election.

Biden made a lot of mistakes, but the online left decided that Trump was preferable to someone who wasn't perfect. This is exactly how we got Trump both times. We need to stop pretending this isn't a huge issue and actually acknowledge that the left is more okay with fascism than they want to admit.

u/bdeimen 2h ago

No, we got Trump the first time because Hillary took for granted and completely ignored critical states. We got Trump the second time because we switched candidates most of the way through the race and Biden's campaign restricted Kamala's control meaning she barely got to run a campaign at all. The Dems have repeatedly screwed up their campaigns all on their own. Blaming the left is just ignorance.

u/Ayotte 6h ago

The "online left" is Russian bots. The people who read the astroturfing and were swayed by it are not the people whose comments you read.

u/rakerber 5h ago edited 5h ago

It's awfully convenient that anything that makes your position look bad is just bots.

If it's convincing enough people to sit out, then it's a problem that needs to be addressed. The outcome is what matters and it worked. Accept responsibility and learn

u/Ayotte 5h ago

Idk why you think I'm saying they make my position look bad. I didnt skip any voting. I agree that it's a problem that needs addressed and that the outcome is what matters. My point is that it's not just people on the left whose comments you see. There are others acting in bad faith who are trying to push an opinion that would not have taken hold without them.

u/bdeimen 2h ago

Yup. The fact that there were tons of Russian bots pushing discord on the left is well documented.

u/The_Barbelo Vermont 8h ago

I already know which one. Americans have shown time and time again we want things to be easy and aren’t willing to do what needs to be done, which at the moment is far more than just voting. We’re cooked. I’m not a doomer by any means. Get out and vote while you still fucking can, but it’s going to take a lot more and I don’t see people jumping to defend anything with action if it takes more than a few steps. I have hope for humanity…I just don’t see Americans doing what needs to be done beyond voting. We couldn’t even do that… The people currently in charge are going to cheat. They’ve already cheated and we didn’t do much of anything.

u/CNJ08540 7h ago

It's also awfully convenient at a right-wing billionaire took over Dominion Voting Systems.

u/The_Barbelo Vermont 4h ago

It’s going to be bad. Voting alone will not be enough, I’m afraid.

u/AssistantEquivalent2 7h ago

“We’re cooked. I’m not a doomer by any means.”

Interesting

u/Tomotronics 7h ago

Guarantee that they’re doing fuck all except whining on Reddit too.

u/The_Barbelo Vermont 4h ago edited 4h ago

We are all guilty of that, yes. I could very likely be doing more. Notice I use a collective “we”. I work for a non for profit. I’ve helped in planning and attending protests all over my state. My state has single handedly chased Vance out. I also help by creating art and signs for protests. I participated in various resistance groups during college. I have helped all of my trans friends to plan a way out if they are in trouble and volunteered to transport them if need be. What else do you think I should be doing as an individual? What do you think we should all be doing together?

Let’s workshop this. I’m totally open to that and willing to do my part.

u/bdeimen 2h ago

We couldn’t even do that

We did do that. The last two presidential elections have been the highest turnouts in the past century. The problem is not people showing up to vote. The problem is the structure of our voting system and the fact that a significant portion of Americans legitimately support fascism.

u/Collypso Pennsylvania 7h ago

Get out and vote while you still fucking can, but it’s going to take a lot more

Voter participation is still abysmal though so...?

u/jjwhitaker 4h ago

100%. It's a final stop post Jan 6. If elections are disrupted people need to hold the GOP accountable or it's 1930 Germany and time to get out.

u/badamant 7h ago

The ENTIRE republican party is directly responsible for everything Trump does.

Blame them by name please.

u/pariah1981 7h ago

I think this is the last check before the civil war that’s been slowly building goes hot. This seems to me to be the last sanity check for the “by the book” large majority of people that are not happy with the way the country is going. I’m legitimately scared about what happens next.

u/DrillPress1 7h ago

Who would fight a civil war? Democrats for the most part don’t even own guns.

u/thrashster 6h ago

What a stupid thing to say.

u/20lbpickle 6h ago

u/Inside-Cod1550 5h ago

I own more firearms than most of my conservative friends. You’ve no idea what you’re talking about.

u/LEDKleenex 6h ago

democracy is being tested

Nope. US citizens are being tested.

There is no way to harden a political system completely as rule and law are only as good as people are willing to uphold and abide by them.

We have been conditioned to believe that the only checks and balances are legislative, executive and judicial, but the final check comes from the public. As long as the people believe that all of these problems are somebody else's responsibility to deal with, you will always allow those with aspirations to corrupt the system.

u/DogDogDogDogog 6h ago

"Nothing like this admin has happened before and our democracy is being tested"

I'd argue it is already dead.

u/Unchosenone7 1h ago

It’s not longer being tested. It failed, horribly.

81

u/WhoMD85 8h ago

No shit because it has been shown time and time again that violating the court orders have zero repercussions and therefore they have no power

u/MommyLovesPot8toes California 7h ago

That's not true at all. The Trump admin has eventually capitulated with every court order (except a few individual immigration cases). This is what they do - violate orders to see how much they can get away with before the court acts. But once the court says "comply or you [specific attorney, agency head, individual worker] will be held in jail for contempt of court" , then we get capitulation.

Individuals in government have proven themselves unwilling to face personal consequences as a sacrifice to trump this time around.

58

u/HistoryAndScience 8h ago

Obviously. Even if Dems win Trump will instruct Johnson not to surrender power. This is just one part of a larger scheme

31

u/CrashB111 Alabama 8h ago

Then Johnson would be arrested by capital police for trespassing.

Come the next congressional term, every sitting member of Congress in both houses is no longer a member of Congress. You are elected to whatever your term is, 2 or 6 years. And at the end of that term, you cease being a member until the new Congress is sworn in.

So if Democrats win and Johnson tries to not get out of the way, he's not a congressman anymore. He's a private citizen trespassing in the capitol building.

u/whocaresaboutmyname 7h ago

But then someone has to actually hold them accountable.

u/CrashB111 Alabama 6h ago

I get the feeling DC police have no desire to do Republicans in Congress any favors after January 6th and their treatment by MAGA.

u/MommyLovesPot8toes California 7h ago

Yeah, the newly elected democratic majority would.

u/RollingZepp 5h ago

Democrats holding the Rs accountable? Yet to be seen. I hope you're right.

2/3 of the Senate remains in tact though since their terms haven't ended. It's the longest serving senator who swears in the new speaker of the house once the newly formed house has elected them. The new speaker then swears everyone else in.

u/DescretoBurrito Colorado 5h ago

2/3 of the Senate remains in tact though since their terms haven't ended. It's the longest serving senator who swears in the new speaker of the house once the newly formed house has elected them. The new speaker then swears everyone else in.

No. The House would never give a Senator authority over their chamber. On Jan 3 the term for all Reps ends. Later that same day, Representatives-elect (including reelected) meet and their first order of business is to choose a Speaker. Once a Speaker is chosen, the Dean of the House (longest serving Rep) traditionally administers the Oath to the new Speaker, but any Representatives-elect can do this (see 2 USC 25). The Dean has been elected as Speaker before, and Speakers have requested a specific Representative-elect swear them in before. The current Dean of the House is Hal Rogers (R), and he is running for reelection. But if he refuses to swear in a Democrat Speaker, any other Representative-elect can perform the task. Then the Speaker swears in the rest of the House as a group.

https://www.congress.gov/crs_external_products/RL/PDF/RL30725/RL30725.32.pdf

2 USC 25:

At the first session of Congress after every general election of Representatives, the oath of office shall be administered by any Member of the House of Representatives to the Speaker; and by the Speaker to all the Members and Delegates present, and to the Clerk, previous to entering on any other business; and to the Members and Delegates who afterward appear, previous to their taking their seats.

u/Kozmic_River 7h ago

I don’t think we needed a whistleblower to tell us that Trump is defying court orders, considering that “defying court orders” has been kind of a running theme of his second term.

u/MommyLovesPot8toes California 6h ago

I cannot get the article to load so I can't say exactly what is in this one. But I follow this shit closely in general and will tell you that States are prepared to counter this fuckery.

blue states have been working nationwide to wargame election subversion and interference scenarios for a year. They believe they're ready for anything - from USPS fuckery to ICE to refusing to seat newly elected Congress members.

ALSO, contrary to popular belief, the Trump admin always capitulates with court orders once a specific person is named by the courts for contempt charges. Sometimes its a DoJ attorney, sometimes an agency head, sometimes lower management. But every time they've been a step away from actual personal consequences, they've folded. I expect no different here. People don't want to go to prison for fighting a losing battle.

33

u/HoosierRed 8h ago

We gonna start putting these maga reps in prison. You do not fuck with the American people.

u/BadahBingBadahBoom 7h ago

You do not fuck with the American people.

Sadly I think the last decade has very much shown you can, and you will get away with it, and you will not end up in prison.

If Jan 6th - an actual fucking attempt to overturn a democratic Presidential election you know the entire raison d'être the US is based on - wasn't the thing that got Americans to hold politicians accountable nothing is.

u/Witty-Entertainer524 7h ago

This...I'm still not done with J6. None of the leadership is behind bars.

u/crimedog58 7h ago

Well there is an...enforcement mechanism...but most people are too lazy to actually get up and do it as long as the bread and circuses keep coming.

u/FunkadelicJiveTurkey 7h ago

No bread, only circus.

11

u/SecareLupus 8h ago

I like your optimism, but even if we win this next election, that decision is going to be up to the DNC... They have not historically shown themselves to have the Moxie to prosecute political crimes. I hope you're right, but my expectation given the last 20 years is that the populace shows up for the Democrats, gives them a solid sweeping mandate, and they'll turn around and go "Now is the time for looking forward..." And then we'll be back here in another 8 years.

u/HowTheyGetcha 7h ago

Trump was indicted and arraigned on 37 counts before the election, in addition to his felony conviction.

u/Collypso Pennsylvania 7h ago

they'll turn around and go "Now is the time for looking forward..."

Trump caught two federal indictments, a Georgia RICO case, and a felony conviction in New York. The accountability you're saying Dems won't pursue was already running.

What shut it down wasn't the DNC losing its nerve. It was voters putting him back in office, which ended the federal cases the week after the election. So the scenario you're predicting already happened once, and the electorate is what stopped it.

If we're back here in 8 years it'll be the same mechanism. That's a turnout problem, not a moxie problem.

u/MommyLovesPot8toes California 7h ago

Thank you!

I'm constantly saying this. I'm all over reddit trying to counter this "there's no consequences, the law is dead, no one was held accountable and never will be" bullshit. That and the "Americans aren't doing anything to counter Trump" bull. The doomerism is lazy and ignores facts and reality It's really, really nice to see someone else say it.

The Constitution /Justice system didn't fail us. We failed it. That matters because the outcome is within our control again now. Believing nothing matters is the exact opposite of what is needed.

u/otterotteralienotter 6h ago

The Constitution /Justice system didn't fail us. We failed it.

Then do better next time, because you're doing a terrible job

u/Collypso Pennsylvania 5h ago

Ok 4Head

u/EasyEar0 5h ago

That matters because the outcome is within our control again now.

I'm not sure that's actually true, since the Rs are clearly fucking with your election.

The real question is whether Americans will do anything if this next election truly is stolen. Call it doomerism if you want, but nothing I've seen suggests Americans are willing to do anything in excess of a weekend protest parade. I would love to be proven wrong.

Importantly: Vote regardless.

u/HoosierRed 6h ago

Judges have still done alot of good work to defend democracy and my money is on them as well. Congress not as much until we remove middle dems.

u/JakeConhale New Hampshire 1h ago

Well, we can send them a few cases of soda then.

u/inthekeyofc 7h ago

You do not fuck with the American people.

Empty boast. The leader of the 2020 coup attempt is currently the President. Nothing was done. Nothing will be done when he does it again.

u/Lazy_Wasp_Legs 4h ago

Look around... the American people are by far the easiest to fuck with because we keep telling ourselves this absurd lie that we are "not to be fucked with" which is nothing but empty fantasy and escapism created by the people that get dominated the most.

u/wahwahwashbear 3h ago

I'm so stressed out by all of this. I feel very powerless, as an American. It seems all our highest government offices are corrupt now

u/lopsided125 6h ago

You just have to fuck-up everything for a week or two, let it happen, and then whoops, the elections are all over.

It's that easy because then media will already be off and running about results, and the courts and populace will follow.

NO Democrat should concede any race this November until we have all the information about how votes were handled.

u/gentleprime 8h ago

Least shocking news of the year this decade the century.

November is going to be special.

u/Sour_baboo 4h ago

I'm stopping at my GOP Congressman's office to ask how I can know if I'm on the list of those allowed to vote by mail. I would think that anyone who plans to vote this fall should do the same.

u/Electrical-Staff735 7h ago

Thank goodness we have all these checks and balances I was told we had growing up /s

A SCOTUS will run defense for him by ignoring a mountain of precedent to dismiss inconvenient cases on the basis of standing. Our judicial system has become a joke

u/The1Ski 6h ago

It is intentional.

This is a power grab.

u/ChaplnGrillSgt 6h ago

I will be voting in person for the first time in almost 2 decades this year. While I'm in a blue stronghold, I am not risking it even a little. The groundwork for the Republicans to steal the election is laid. They will in turn call the democrats hypocrites for shaming them over the 2020 elections.

u/FluffyWalrusFTW 4h ago

Didn't need a whistleblower for this I just assumed this is the case until proven otherwise

u/MoxOpalescence 7h ago

No civil solution to the Republican problem

u/zestzebra America 6h ago

Like nobody saw this coming. What to do, go get your ballot, fill it in and bring it back ASAP.

u/RollingZepp 5h ago

The question is, what will the sane Americans do when Trump steals this election. Because despite a huge majority hating Trump and the Republicans, I don't see the dems winning the mid terms due to all this suppression.

Will you fight for your future or continue to let them trample you?

u/BeneficialNatural610 Iowa 5h ago

Another day, another reason for Trump to give me crazy anxiety. The midterm is our only peaceful way out of this torment. If Republicans rob us of this, I'm going to absolutely fucking lose it.

Democrats better have a solid contingency plan that involves more than just going to the US SCOTUS and giving up

u/Life-Ship3628 4h ago

Wait what the current administration is ignoring the law. Say it isn't so/S

u/AcanthisittaNo6653 New Hampshire 3h ago edited 3h ago

If people can track their mail-in ballots they should. The USPS is poised to delay delivery of mail-in ballots until after the deadline. In the 2024 presidential election, 44% of Democratic voters voted absentee/by mail versus 26% of Republican voters.

u/JustTheOneGoose22 3h ago

Maybe a convicted felon shouldn't be in the white house. Just a thought

u/frquency-equinox 1h ago

Convicted felon, rapist, wife beater, and probably incest given how much Trump talks about wanting to fuck his daughter.

u/guitarburst05 7h ago

Anytime someone raises their voice or does ANYTHING other than blandly sitting silently they're told to "just go vote."

What happens when you can't? When your ballot is rejected despite being valid? When your local polling place is abruptly closed? When thugs show up outside voting locations and intimidate?

When they make voting impossible, there must be some other way to rise up.

u/RollingZepp 5h ago

Hmm yes I wonder what alternatives are out there. I've heard there was a little group of colonies a couple hundred years ago that did something else.

u/berael 7h ago

Yeah, we know.

Is anyone going to do anything about it?

u/Literally_Laura 7h ago

Checks and balances?

More like checks and bullshit.

u/Collypso Pennsylvania 7h ago

If you don't vote because of this then you're doing what they want

u/Jcaquix 7h ago

What? You mean the courts (which haven't saved us) won't save us?!

u/BalerionSanders Ohio 7h ago

Just wait until you see their defiance of the vote 👉

u/RetroactiveRecursion New York 7h ago

A court has decided it's allegiant to the marmalade fascist, not the law or the nation.

It doesn't matter.

Liberty is already dead. We're just to obtuse to see it.

u/shadowdra126 Georgia 7h ago

Are you shocked?

u/Perllitte 6h ago

If you can, vote in person. If you can't vote as early as possible.

It would be great if legislators did anything about this and make some real noise at every level. The Supreme Court failed in thieir obvious and plain task, or succeeded in their direction from the Heritage Foundation.

u/darkhorsehance 5h ago

You must assume the Federal Government is acting in bad faith every chance it gets.

u/Soulcontusion New Mexico 5h ago

The right attempting to rig the election? I'm shocked...

u/Fuzzy_Translator4639 5h ago

Well of course they are. The GOP ignores the courts.

u/Memitim America 5h ago

No shit. Republicans show us every single day how little they care of the law that defines our nation, while Americans show how little they care about protecting it. The rest of the world waits to see how they'll get harmed as a result. The Iran quagmire may have actually saved some new targets of random Republican acts of war.

u/catastrophicsonder 4h ago

Everyday its whistle blower, impeachment threat, another cronie of trumps gang is found doing something horrible (big suprise), something offensive about POC. My wine remains sealed until the actual day comes. Boring news where everything happens and nothing is done.

u/Wuz314159 Pennsylvania 3h ago

ELI5: Elections are run by states, not the Fed.

u/drawmer 7h ago

This is the issue. Any one person at a post office can just throw away a ballot. I’m hoping there are safeguards for this, but perhaps not.

u/ReviledFoundling 7h ago

This is my shocked face 😐

u/International-Room-3 7h ago

Is this where we act surprised?

u/Internal_Example1185 7h ago

OF COURSE THEY ARE

u/DrillPress1 7h ago

Is the consensus that this is enough to change the outcome?

u/Responsible-Pain-620 7h ago

It’s as if the entire point of all the data centers, flock cameras, and rubbing elbows was to get their surveillance state ready for the next phase of their coup. What they weren’t counting on was Trump’s greed taking over and literally hurting his own voter base. Farmers, young men, MAHA women, conservative POCs, service members, and red state residents have been betrayed so far in 2.0 snd they’re not going to sit there and take it in the chin. This dooming needs to stop. You’re all forgetting just how loathed he is right now.

u/sometimes_rite 5h ago

Don't forget the drone port at the white house.

I wonder who that is for...

u/Human_Local3519 7h ago

Well yeah they're a desperate weak tribe

u/Wonderful_Pace_398 6h ago

u/Spimflagon 6h ago

u/Meme-Botto9001 1h ago

And someone is going to do something right? Right?

u/Lancer420 1h ago

What!? No way! The scum of the earth acting like the scum of the earth!?

u/TheAngriestChair 47m ago

We knew it would happen. The courts are empty threats when the ones to uphold the law are the ones abusing the system.

u/captaincanada84 Canada 11m ago

There are no consequences so of course they are.

Do you, personally, have a plan to respond if this election is stolen?   Or will you just post on reddit to like-minded people and pretend you've accomplished something?

You gotta shut down those phones if you wanna shut down the streets.

u/RespectTheTree America 8h ago

I'm going to find the closest protest, and/or travel to DC. I want to tour this new ballroom construction.

u/maddprof 7h ago

Why would anyone post their plans on a public forum - especially when the response will vary from peaceful protest to violent uprising.

I sure as shit wouldn't post what my plans are/could be.

u/sometimes_rite 6h ago

Because if no one talks and coordinates we end up with what we already have:  millions of frogs in slowly boiling pots, passively consuming their daily dose of outrage, never stopping to recognize the totality of it all and plan and respond.

We Americans are cowards.

Yes, even you, keyboard reddit warrior. I myself am a coward. Why are we cowards?

Because we the people have allowed all of this to happen to us. All of us, regardless of who you voted for or how you fall in the political spectrum, are at fault.

And not one of us motherfucking cowards are going to DO anything about it. Why?

Because we are all scared of suffering. Of being punished. Scared of not having our starbies, our pokemon cards, our big tittied goth anime girls. If we the people rise up, that means WE have to DO something. I mean, really, voting should be all we have to do! Anything else? Protesting? Revolution?

Neither of those things pay the bills, man. Fuck all that! Our lives suck and we all hate whats happening...but...uh...why can't someone else deal with it?
