I recently went back to Prey and was reminded how well the game combines exploration, atmosphere, and problem solving. The Talos I setting still feels incredibly immersive, and I like how the game gives you different ways to approach situations instead of forcing you into one play style.

For those who have played it, what’s the one thing you think Prey does better than most other immersive sims?

Prey Coop

For me, it's how many different ways the game lets you approach a problem. A situation that looks like it requires combat can often be solved through exploration, abilities, environmental objects, or simply finding another route. What mechanic do you think deserves more appreciation?

Since my previous post about Talos I recreation in No Man's Sky (https://www.reddit.com/r/prey/comments/1vzpjtd/talos_i_recreation_in_no_mans_sky/) got some attention, I decided to do a wrap-up.

NMS has a restriction of 20000 base parts per save, so it won't be possible for me to finish the whole station and it appears that some parts already started glitching out, but I have finished the exterior, as well as the Lobby, Neuromod Division, Hardware Labs, Psychotronics, Shuttle Bay, Arboretum, Crew Quarters, the Bridge and Deep Storage. GUTS is only partially complete. Maybe the parts limit would be raised in future updates, but for now that is it.

The build is a bit light on furnishing, again, due to number of parts restrictions.

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone had any models of the characters from in game or knew how to get them from the files. I'm currently trying to plan a cosplay and I'd love to go as Morgan but I can't find really good reference images for the models online and i can't seem to get good references in game. So I'd like to know if anyone has a detailed model or reference drawing that I could use to help me with this mockup. Before anyone says it, I know it'll be a difficult costume to put together but I've just really fallen in love with the game and want to show it in some way. I'm not planning on doing a helmet for the time being, really just the transtar uniform. but specifically the red and black one that Morgan and Alex wear throughout the game. I may decide to do a helmet later but idk. I do have access to a 3d printer for the tubes and connector bits.

One curious thing i noticed after i watched 7 different youtubers play prey is how some of them passed the game easy peasy while at maximum difficulty with all the challenges and others just kept dying over and over in the easiest one

Same thing whit recources a girl kept tearing the space station for resources because she was always short on things meanwhilr some guy had so many without trying even thought he was so wastefull that he started recycling the stuff for more inventory space

Some of them figured so many litlle nooks and cranies that the station really seemed like this massive place while one in particular(Alexelcapo) despite his best efforts didnt find shit and it felt like the station was this small empty place without much in it as a result

It was a very weird experience its like they were all playing a different game

Im watching an eight one and she somehow figured out how to get to the russian girl early in the story

I thought I knew this game inside out and I came back for another run a few days ago. Found this maintance section in. The shuttle bay that leads to a power breaker, turns the lift shafts back on without needing to go down and use the workstations. First time I found that area existed.

I have around 10 hrs playtime and can't stop feeling like it would suit my playstyle more if you would actually clear a room somewhat permanently if you killed all typhoons. Its incredibly annoying: whenever i want to go back to my office I run into like 4 etheric phantoms that aren't even difficult to fight but are just incredibly annoying to have to kill every time i go back to the lobby. (i play on the hardest difficulty, its my first playtrough) does anyone have any mods that can reduce, remove or alter the typhoon respawns?

We start with the Vorona-1 incident (Typhon are encountered for the first time) and the Kletka Program:

I’m playing Prey for the first time. I just reached the Shuttle Bay, and there were some escape pods there. One of the pods was slightly open, but I couldn’t get it to open any further. I used Mimic to get inside, but now I can’t get back out because the button inside doesn’t work either. Mimic isn’t helping this time because I need to make a high jump to get out. Is there any way to escape, or is this a bug? Should I load my last save?

Despite him being red, I found him crouching in the skill recorder room and stopped attacking him when I realized he was doing nothing.

What makes Prey stand out among immersive sims is that Arkane didn't just throw random anonymous corpses around the station.

You can find a body in the Hardware Labs, check their name tag, track down their desk in Crew Quarters, read their unsubmitted performance review and listen to an audio log of them playing D&D with their co-workers in their off-hours. The web of personal relationships, office rivalries, and secret romances across Talos I makes the Typhon outbreak feel like a real human tragedy rather than just a monster outbreak. The narrative detail packed into this game is criminally slept on.

What type of art style even is this anyway? Specifically with the in game posters (sorry about the resolution on some images)

I finished the DLC recently, and I am ready to finally do the Honors and 100% this masterpiece. I know that I need 2 runs and that I can do Awkward Ride Home & I and It with some Game Save shenanigans. What I am not sure about is what is the best combination for the 2 runs.

Any tips appreciated.

Rule 5: This one mimic is not hostile. Despite appearing red, it wont attack or turn into objects. It just sits there. Had a phantom wonder in and not see me apparently but the other mimics hate my guts

On the prey wiki, I've found information that the outbreak started on February 20th 2035, when Trevor J. Young got mind controlled and released some mimics. However, the incident log number is #1546-031433. If the second number is a date, that would mean it took place in 2033. Does anyone know where this Feb 20th date comes from?

Additionally, the wiki has "developer notes" for many characters with some background info. I was wondering where these come from? Are they in the game files? promotional material?

Alex Yu is a control freak. He used his own brother as a lab rat for years on end just to see how powerful neuromods are, while controlling Talos 1 mostly by himself. But did he ever use neuromods?

We know from in game emails that Alex is physically out of shape. He didn't go to the gym for 5 months in his emails. In a world where a quick Neuromod installation could instantly grant peak physical fitness, enhanced intelligence, or expert management skills to run Talos 1 more efficiently, Alex seemingly chose not to use them.

I feel like Alex would not want to take the neuromods because he wants to be the one with all the knowledge. He doesn't trust anyone, the entire game is us trying to gain his trust. Alex keeps on trying to stop us, until we show him we can't be stopped.

He uses neuromods as a way to ensure that others don't remember things. I think there were a few interviews of people who left talos 1 and they had no idea what they did up there, since you had to get neuromods before going up there. Morgan is super paranoid about his operators, and I think Alex would be at least 2-3X more paranoid.

But how did he survive so long? After Morgan's sacrifice, how did he get back to earth, and into another safe room, and give a typhon a simulation based on Morgans memories? Without getting so much as a scratch.

Even at the end, Alex could still be lying.

What do we REALLY know about Alex?

I love this game and have beaten it a couple of times, but the sheer amount of lore and hidden details is still insane. The NPCs have so many subtle reactions that most players completely miss. There are entire hidden areas and tiny environmental storytelling moments all over the place, like a random snowman tucked away in the Hardware Labs, or a small spot in the Arboretum with two baseball mitts and some beer where crew members probably hung out before the incident.

There's also other NPC dialogue that you might miss. For example, there is a moment in the Cargo Bay where a security officer asks you to find his wife. If you find her wedding ring and return it to him, he will eventually apologize and say he wishes he tried to free you earlier, after realizing you were being experimented on against your will the whole time.

I just found out you can actually scan Morgan after using Phantom Shift. It gives Morgan a bit more personality.

It makes me wonder how much else is left to uncover. Are there any super obscure secrets, weird easter eggs, or hidden details that you guys know of that barely anyone else has covered or found?

Greetings Preyple! Last night I had this phantom recycler charge suddenly float up through the floor with a ghostly stinger, and I'm so flippin' curious if anyone has an idea what might have happened here exactly. The full VOD is still up, but I'm not sure if any surrounding context would really help lol. Obviously a lot of weird things can happen in a game like this, it's just so mysterious to me that I had to see if anyone knew more!
