Extracurricular activity commitment

How many hours of activity do Princeton students usually do per week? For context, I am an AB student, so no strenuous labs (I have about 12 hours of classes a week). I am thinking of doing a sport and an acapella group which I know is super ambitious. I was wondering if anyone has any advice.

Obviously it varies a lot—some of my good friends did no extracurricular activities while I did like 5 (but none were sports). I imagine a sport and a capella group could be doable just in terms of hours (but be rough during sport season), but the bigger issue might just be scheduling conflicts between rehearsal and practices. But that’s what freshman year is for—try it out, see if it’s viable, and if not decide which you prefer.

12 hours is probably much less than you are used to. Many students find that ECs, specially scheduled ones like sports or jobs, give structure to the days and helps them.
