Impersonation/Original Content

Good Afternoon to our wonderful r/progresspics community!

Myself and the rest of the mod team want to wish you a belated seasons greetings and hope whatever your goals for 2026 may have been that they are going strong and you are CRUSHING them.

It is no secret that between AI and the long standing bots we often get pics posted that are clearly fake or they are people impersonation or ,better yet, stealing content/pictures of people on social media. I know myself and I am sure I speak for the rest of the team LOVEEEE how great you all are at reporting things to us (not just the topic at hand either). But we need your help with this particular situation.

Despite what some angry people on our ban lists might think us mods are not basement dwelling, jobless, welfare sucking, pimple faced, free speech hating people. We all have lives, jobs, some have kids, social lives, so on and so on. We can not know the face, abs, butts or biceps of every many/women/they/them on the internet. So if you are going to report a post for impersonation or stealing someone elses content please try to either modmail us the link to the correct socials! This will help give us a few more tools to help fight the fakes and spammers.

Hope you all have a great Wednesday!

META A warning about safety in our subreddit and what to do about inappropriate messages.

Hi progresspics! We always strive to keep the subreddit as safe as possible, however, unsolicited/inappropriate Direct messages are always a possibility and unfortunately not one we can 100% prevent. While we hope people never receive anything that makes them uncomfortable, here are the steps you can take to report anyone who gets creepy in your DMs:

  1. report the user to us!

-take screen shots of the messages, it doesn’t have to be the whole conversation, just make sure we can see their user name, and the inappropriate part.

-upload the screens to imgur and send us a link via modmail.

all users reported to us for acting inappropriately will be permanently banned, however, this doesn’t stop them from viewing the subreddit, or continuing to dm you, so..

2) report the user directly to reddit at reddit.com/report

3) block the user! Simply go onto their profile and click the three corner dots (mobile) or the “more options” button (desktop) to find the option.

To prevent ALL DM's you can disable the DM and chat request options like so:

Mobile: settings > account settings > blocking and permissions.

Desktop: User settings > chat and messaging.

As an aside, a note on image theft:

it's been brought to our attention multiple times over the last month or so that a few content farm websites and social media accounts have been reposting pictures from here, while there isn't much that we can do to stop that we do want to remind everyone that it is a potential outcome to posting your images online, especially in areas with a large pool of specific content to farm from, while we do not allow users to promote their social media, including the use of watermark handles, you may watermark your posts with your REDDIT user name if you so wish.

We hope you all stay as safe as possible and know that any problems or questions can be sent into our modmail. Keep it clean, keep it safe, and read the rules before posting!

Started GLP-1s this year and it’s hard to see the progress day to day but then I see a picture of me from last year and I realize just how much I’ve lost already.

The last time I was down this much I was super depressed and not eating out of sadness. Now I’m eating less but under the supervision of my doctor and making mindful eating choices that prioritize protein. I’m at the point where I need to add in exercise but haven’t fit a routine into my crazy schedule yet.

I didn’t weigh myself at first because I knew if I didn’t see numbers go down, I’d get frustrated and stop. Now I’m doing weekly scale checks and noting my progress. Down 25 from my starting weight, 25 to go to reach my goal.

Fitness/gym gains F/34/5’2 [107 >106= 1 pound ] (4 months) Not a huge change on the scale, but a lot has happened in the past 4 months. I didn’t work out for 3 months while I was bedridden and lost a lot of muscle and gained fat. Still a work in progress, but I’m excited to finally have a flat stomach

F 5'4” (163, 164 cm) F/27/5’4” [260 lbs > 158 lbs =102 lbs] (7 years) celebrating maintenance 🥳

First pic is from fall of 2019, second pic from this week. It’s been nearly 5 years (!!!) of maintenance after taking about 2 years to lose the weight. Times flies, I can hardly believe how long it’s been. Brains also have a funny way of remembering things lol. Reminding myself and others to simply take a step back and remember where we started, especially if/when frustration is starting to creep in. Stay strong and don’t give up ever 🫶

It’s been 8 years since I’ve had personal tragedy and finally found myself 8 years later. I stopped drinking so much, and found a love for lifting and cardio. My weight is actually less on the left than on the right, but I’m making healthy changes. I’m trying not to focus on the number but how I feel and how my clothes fit. I have a ways to go still but what’s important is I feel better, and my resting heart rate when from the upper 90s to the low 70s.

Calorie Counting- small deficit. Only -250 a day (.5lbs a week).

Lost weight in the past, rapidly. Tried again for about a year but kept binging on weekends/fun times. Decided to do it slower but in a way that actually works, so a small deficit + upping my exercise worked for me.

Time passes regardless. These 8 months would have gone by whether I had kept treading water and not lost weight, or if I lost it but in a slow but sustainable way.

Hoping to lose about 15 more pounds before my wedding in June, but I'm already feeling 100x better about everything. Makes all the decisions worth it! And the more you stick to it, the easier it gets, truly.

Lost weight but apparently didn't clean my room, excuse the mess lol.

Fitness/gym gains M/33/5'11" [330lbs > 170lbs = 160lbs] (17 months) Sedentary to 50k Daily Steps: The System I Built

Post image
148 Upvotes

TLDR:

I started in a safe calorie deficit. Once I got to my goal weight, I implemented a structured reverse diet. I stepped up 100 calories to my average daily consumption once every two weeks. This systematic ramp-up maintained metabolic health and physical recovery while scaling active expenditure.

The Turning Point:

One morning, I woke up after another night of chronic acid reflux and fragmented sleep. Looking in the mirror, I realized my current life was unsustainable. I decided to apply my full systems engineering focus to my own solving this problem. With that motivation I d e cided to build a multi-step framework to transform into a state I could be proud of.

Macro Floor Framework:

I set macro targets and energy inputs based on sports science meta-analyses targeting desired lean body mass parameters.

I set a protein floor first. This was set using the established 1.0g of complete protein per pound of desired body weight. I do not count incomplete protein sources.

I established a fat window to satisfy essential endocrine requirements: specifically no less than 0.3g of fat but no more than 0.5g of fat per pound of desired body weight. I prioritize healthy fat sources where possible.

This establishes the safe absolute minimum for a calorie deficit that you can add carbohydrates on top of. This protein floor and fat window are critical to keep muscle mass and maintain endocrine health.

Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) calculators are a strong start to estimate your maintenance calories. As an example, cutting 500 or so calories from the calculated estimate is a good guideline for establishing a safe energy deficit. I cut an amount that fit my goals.

Recomp Phase:

I maintained a steady, high-volume recomp at 170 lbs since December 2025, transitioning from 19% body fat to 11% body fat.

With structural protein and essential fat floors established, any remaining energy increases were routed to carbohydrates to maximize glycogen stores, which support my full-body lifting splits.

This progressive ramping cleanly grew my daily caloric capacity to 3,300 calories without gaining body fat through the recomp.

High Volume Nutrition Architecture:

For me, managing food noise relies on feeling full using volume eating. I love engineering high-volume, low-caloric-density meals that taste great!

An example I eat every day is a 3 lb "Chocolate pie filling" I make from Calabaza Pumpkin. It's 1,100 grams of food volume for 382 calories (calabaza base, dark/Dutch cocoa, and decaf espresso).

Being able to eat big delicious meals made of healthy whole foods makes the plan easy to stick to and keeps the lifestyle sustainable.

Progressive Overload & Activity Scaling:

(Disclaimer: The following describes my personal journey and long-term progression, not a prescriptive routine for beginners)

To build cardiovascular health, I started with just a few thousand steps per day at 330 lbs to manage joint loading. Over the transformation, I scaled daily walking up alongside systemic conditioning to build my endurance baseline.

To build strength and prevent muscle loss, I started with just 3 foundational compound movements, the bench press, the squat, and the straight-leg deadlift to cover the full body. Through progressive overload, volume additions, and managed recovery, I eventually expanded this into my current 17-movement full-body split, 6 days per week.

Every set, step, and gram of nutrition has been logged and tracked. Happy to answer questions on the data, macro allocations, or volume eating mechanics below

F 5'9” (175, 176, 177 cm) F/23/5'9" [230 lbs > 160 lbs = 70 lbs lost] (12 months) have been in a plateau lately

Hey, it's my first time posting but I finally felt like sharing my progress. It may not be where I want to be yet, but I am very proud of how far I've come.

I came from a household with overweight family members and had a childhood that consisted of processed foods, lack of portion control, and sedentary habits. I didn't have the knowledge/resources to be fit. I was overweight for as long as I can remember. I got called fat a lot by peers growing up, and didn't think I'd ever be able to be healthy or lose weight.

I felt very hopeless and insecure with how I looked. I also got cyber bullied for my weight on top of how peers treated me. When I tried dating, I noticed it affected that too. I gained the most weight when I was 19-20 after losing 2 close family members and dealing with an abusive relationship. I was also very focused on working full-time and doing school full-time. I was very drained, and how I looked and felt was on a back-burner as I dealt with severe depression.

Finally, when I was 21 I got myself together and took small steps. Zero-sugar soda. No more fried foods. No more alcohol. Calorie counting. I was so scared of going to the gym because I worried about being judged. I finally built up the courage and started on the treadmill at an incline and would walk until I got too tired. After a few weeks, I started using the weight machines too. I still do this and am working on the courage to lift free weights. I don't know much about it and I know my form would be terrible, but I have been building strength and muscle to help myself feel better about it.

My goal weight is 140-150 lbs. I am more focused on losing fat and building muscle. I have some loose skin on my arms, inner thighs, and stomach. I also have an immense amount of stretch marks everywhere. I really struggle when I see many people my age who have been fit their entire lives and have little to no loose skin/stretch marks. I hope that one day I can afford surgery to get rid of the loose skin when I reach my goal weight.

For the past 2ish months I have been stuck in a plateau in the low 160's. I need to keep motivating myself to push myself further at the gym. It also doesn't help that it was recently my birthday so I haven't been eating the healthiest.

Thank you to anyone who read this, and I wish everyone the best of luck in their journey:) any tips are appreciated!

No gym or lifting. Progress is from diet change and cardio. The whole process has been about 2 years, starting at 185lbs in 2024. Unfortunately I don’t have any pictures from my heaviest point. Pictures are from June 2025-Now. I’m very happy with my results, especially the shape of my face. I’ll be working on muscle gains next.
