I need some help with food once the supermarkets have been completely looted. I’m looking for something simple, easy to find and preserve over time, that doesn’t take too much time to manage, but still makes it possible to maintain a good weight.
I understand how calories work, and I know butter is one of the best foods for keeping your calories up, but eating too much of it makes your character unhappy. What foods should I combine it with, or what kind of diet should I maintain?
Maybe there’s one good everyday food I can rely on, and then use a stick of butter whenever my weight starts dropping?
I’m open to any advice, especially since things have changed quite a bit in this new build. Thanks!

I know its a personal preference thing, but dear god, why almost every gun model in the game doesnt seem to fit the player hand? they all seem so small, when i play vanilla i feel like my character is holding an toy gun. And almost every single gun mod does that too, the only ones to make guns feel robust and actually fit the player dimensions are Brita from 41 and guns of marz now on 42. im trying now the escape from kentucky mod, the guns models are amazing, but everything seem doesnt seem to fit the player, specialy the pistols. I know its a ant problem, but still i wanted to bring this discussion, im the only one who feel this way?

You guys know you can smash those reinforced doors with like 15 swings of a fire axe right?
Do sledgehammers serve another, exclusive function other than destroying reinforced walls/doors? I was previously under the impression that damaging them with an axe won’t do the job, and I was looking for a sledgehammer like everyone else, until I tried with a fire axe on the Brandenburg police station doors and lo and behold, it worked and I got into the armory.
Given that axes are widely available and swinging an axe a few times is infinitely easier than finding a sledgehammer, I don’t understand why sledgehammers got such notoriety?

I was playing debug trying to find out how many zombies were in the prison near rosewood, and I had invisibility off so all the zombies would come to me. At one point I was in the middle of the dying animation but still had health so I turned on god mode. Now the game thinks I am dead but I still have (some) control over my character. I can still kill zombies and I still get the jumpscare noise if a zombie comes out from a corner. It's really strange. Edit: it actually let me continue, but now every single zombie not on the top floor has disappeared.

Just bought the game with the PvE sale on Steam yesterday. Watched a couple videos of people playing it so I have a rough idea of things. I was clearing the nearby fire dept when a crawler nearly knocked me over and another zombie took the chance to inflict a laceration on me. I bandaged it and continue (found like 6-7 fire axes which is awesome), but fast forward a couple hours I'm now tense and queasy. Am I done for?

Please ban those posts and sticky this one so we don't get the same post 10 more times tomorrow.

Imagine The Only Cure mod but we can craft auto mails via carving, electric and metal working. Would be so cool and grinding late level electrical will finally be a thing.

I was thinking about ways I could spice up my next run and couldn’t find any mods that give the game an ending, are there any? Or if I could get any ideas on challenges to spice up a run in the same way I’d appreciate that too

Hi everyone! Curiosity question: how did you find your multiplayer teammates? (Not necessarily random people you play with, but rather, the people who you want on your team when you play something like PZ)
I admit, I'm very cautious about who I play online with. I played single player on games for most of my gaming life and only played multiplayer regularly in the past 10 years. I'm an extroverted introvert - I get along with others very well, but I've found random gamers I meet online to be demanding (in a social sense - I know, introverts are weird) that I end up drifting away from them (I know, it's weird). Also, my playstyle is very cooperative/team oriented, which I've found is not how a lot of people play. As a result, I find it very difficult to play multiplayer games with random people.
Luckily, one of my good friends who I know in real life has become my partner in crime in several games (Helldivers 2, Borderlands 4, and now PZ). We work very well as a team ("take targets to the south, I'll take west," or "run, I'll get them off of you!"), we're both very selfless, and our positive, humorous personalities fit and make every gaming session funny and fun (I'm sure it helps we've known each other for over 15 years in real life).
I wish we could have more people play with us, but we don't really know anyone else in real life to play PZ with (except our one friend, but his cpu's graphics card died, plus he got the whole new job/new girlfriend/new house thing, which we're all very happy for him, but wish he were playing with us). I'm very hesitant to invite random people - there's such a variety of gamers out there that finding a good fit is tough, and if it doesn't work out, I really stress out about the "we don't want you playing with us" conversation and likely drift away.
Anyways, I'm not really asking how to find people to play with. I know, I could put up posts on here and on discord as options, but even still, putting up "ads" will be just like searching through random players, and on top of that, I don't feel like "interviewing" people. I'm honestly fine just if it will always just be my friend and me. I mentioned everything above to illustrate why I think it's hard to find good teammates in multiplayer video games.
Rather, I was curious, hence this post: do you have teammates/partners in crime? What were your backstories leading to you realizing that when you go into any battle, you will want them watching your back?

Its a casual server i set up for getting my friends into Project Zomboid but im hoping other people can come check out and join the server too if they're interested. There's also a discord set up as well
-Normal zombies with 3% sprinters and bite only infection.
-10 extra perk points, 1.5 xp, and no muscle strain
-Mostly vanilla with only quality of life mods like ladders, push cars, hairstyles, and build 42 mini map fix.
-Safehouses enabled after 1 in game day, and released after 7 real life days.

Even if you have 16 GB of RAM installed on your PC, Project Zomboid defaults to allocating a maximum of 3 GB of RAM. Whether you are at your base, driving through the map, or fighting large hordes, Java's Garbage Collector constantly tries to clean up the capped 3 GB memory, resulting in annoying game-wide micro-stutters and frame drops.
Allocating more RAM to the game completely fixes all stutter issues across the entire map.
Step-by-Step Guide:
ProjectZomboid64.json file using Notepad or any text editor.-Xmx3072m (or -Xmx2048m).-Xmx8192m (allocating 8 GB), save, and exit.Extra VRAM Tips (For 4GB VRAM GPUs):
After applying the RAM tweak, Java will no longer force aggressive memory wipes every few seconds, fixing the stuttering issue completely. Stay safe out there!

First time tackling b42 without getting overwhelmed by the crafting. What is the best crop to grow? Is there still an issue where half of the crops are literally impossible to grow due to growth time?

Finally went into prison and got stuck in this lotto room. All of a sudden there’s a wall blocking the stair. Good thing it was only solo.

PZ setting in Twilight 2000?
I have come across this ttrpg, Twilight 2000, which takes place in the late 90s - early 2000s post-semi-nuclear war in Europe where the goal is mostly survival and fighting attrition of resources and health. Basically seems like a good ttrpg for playing some zomboid, just slap the Knox county map on a hex grid and kind of go from there.
Has anyone tried this? I'm thinking of maybe starting something like this with some friends but I'm curious if others have tried and what your experience was like.

Hello. I remember playing the game in build 38 or 39. It was nice. They were cars everywhere. If I played the sandbox version and maximized the gun drop rate, almost every house had guns. But now I feel like I am in a town with a population of 10 but somehow got 1000 zombies. I am not sure what was the devs purpose. If they wanted to make the game realistic... they didn't. It's more fiction then realistic. Kentucky had at least %50 gun ownership rate in 1993. So I should get at least one gun per 2 houses. If people took those with them, I should find it on them or on the ground.
I have tried using mods but nothing fix this problem with me. Please help. I want old drop chances with drop location in build 42.

The compound is built.
Now we need good people who can help keep it standing against the chaos outside.
What started as a small refuge has grown into a self-sufficient settlement. We have farming, livestock, blacksmithing, tailoring, mechanics, food storage, vehicles, workshops and fortified walls. That abundance has made us a target.
Hostile military bandits now patrol the surrounding woods and attack the settlement. We can fight them, but we are running short on manpower.
We are looking for people who want to become part of a community, not just live alone on the same server.
One day you might be farming, feeding animals, forging weapons or repairing vehicles. The next day someone spots armed men outside the walls and everyone grabs a weapon.
We help each other, share resources and try to build something together. The goal is a small group where people actually know each other and become friends.
New gamers are completely welcome. You do NOT need experience.
We have equipment, food, shelter and people willing to teach you.

So I was very excited to start an Engineer run, gathering all zeds with noise maker and blow them up with a pipe bomb but they just completely ignore it?
I know visuals override hearing and if they see me they wont give a damn about sound but I specifically threw it at zeds who do not see me and they just wandered away from it.
Also I know there are mods to fix this but I am sooo tired having to fix EVERY aspect of the game with mods. At this point I am playing a game that was balanced by hundreds of random modders and not the developers themselves and it feels off, I feel like I am cheating.
Other option is to gather them with a car that has a siren but I wont always have access to those and that is not why I started as an engineer. Also the pipe bomb will damage the car right? Anyone tested this? Or if it does not damage the car then that is quite immersion braking so whatever...
