bricked the whole game, luckily a timely secret box into xerosic put them to 3 in hand and 10 in deck, and they used all their boss hunting down my bench early game, so I got to hit them with the deck out

Deck Help Mega excadrill ex: Trolley vs Hero’s Cape

Post image
27 Upvotes

I’ve noticed that the best-performing lists (based on Worlds and online tournaments) seem to be the Hero’s Cape version.
At local tournaments, I’ve been using the Precious Trolley version, and it has helped me win two Worlds Celebrations and a Midyear tournament. But whenever I’ve played the Hero’s Cape version on Live, I’ve lost almost every time.
Am I making mistakes when playing the Cape version?

Other Anyone willing to play me?

Upvotes

Not sure if this is allowed, I didn't see anything in the rules against it.

I am newer to the TCG and I have a tournament coming up, my first challenge actually. I have done a couple pre release/worlds celebration tournaments but this is the first one for points and my first with my current deck. I was hoping to find someone who runs festival lead, dusc pult, excadrill, slowpoke metagross or a kazam deck that might be willing to do a couple matches or two and potentially give me some feedback?

I ask for these decks bc that seems to be what I have seen in my local group.

Rant Unsure if I should switch decks?

Upvotes

Surely most people run into this dilemma a lot, but I genuinely feel like I’m not playing poorly enough to be where I’m at in terms of ELO? But surely I must be? That’s the internal conflict going on atm and the reality is it’s a bit of both but I feel like it’s a valid question to at least propose (switching decks).

I’ve been playing almost exclusively Cynthia’s Garchomp for most of the current season, hit masters about 2 weeks ago, and have been doing brutally awful ever since. Currently have about 130 games with the deck (includes most of the climb to masters) with about a 57% WR, but as soon as I hit master league I lost most of my games and went on a losing streak that tanked me all the way to 1386. Have since clawed back to about 1445 but have been in limbo since. I basically never won more than a game or two at 1500 and just can’t manage to get back to that number (which, with an honest look at myself as a player is where I believe I should be at. Maybe not climbing much but 1500 feels reasonable.) I don’t face any deck I would consider meta or highly competitive anymore besides the occasional poorly played slopbox. Haven’t seen a pult in ages. Am I just stuck in gimmick deck hell? Is this where I should be? Just frustrated because I feel like I just get outgimmicked by everything which makes me feel like something with a more consistent match spread might be the answer

Deck Help Beginner looking for a deck to learn the game/meta with

Hey everyone,

I’m just getting into Pokémon TCG. I know the basic rules and how the game works, but I have basically zero knowledge of the current meta, what decks are being played, important cards, strategies, matchups etc...

I’m looking for a deck that’s straightforward to play, but still good enough to be relevant in the current meta. Basically something that can help me learn the game properly while also getting me familiar with the decks I’ll be facing

I’m just looking for something beginner friendly that I won’t immediately outgrow once I understand the game better

What would you guys recommend? Thank you !

Question Connection issue or something else?

I’ve had three games recently; two of them ranked, where the red network icon comes up and the game freezes. Eventually the game seems to reconnect, but only my opponent can take turns, where it glitches for me. If it reconnects and I stick around I can eventually hear the move timer run down, then my opponent seems to get to take a turn.

The reason I’m here is because these were all instances where I was on WiFi and otherwise had internet access. Initially I chalked this up to server glitch and moved on, but this last time I wondered if it was something else.

This time I decided to check the battle log and I noticed it says my opponent had disconnected and reconnected. As he was able to play and I was not, I started to wonder if it was some way to manipulate the server to convince me to concede and take the L, as I had been in a pretty good spot on the match up to this point. I did stick around and wait the timer out. My opponent never seemed to take another turn after the one, and the game just sat there, clock on 0:00 so I did then close out and reopen.

So is that possible, or am I just overthinking a random glitch? It’s just frustrating to lose a winning match because of something like this and I just want to know.

the screenshot was taken after they had returned and taken a turn. The game went crazy, as you’ll notice.

Weird, no?

Discussion A little discouraged

I've played the TCG on and off since it started way back when, 3 months ago I started again, been playing Ethan's Typhlosion. At first I figured I just needed more practice when I lost, it's a complicated game after all. But recently I decided to try another deck that caught my eye, Hop's Trevenant, and immediately shot up to 1700 elo after being stuck at 1500 with Typhlosion.

Realistically, I don't know the ins and outs of Trevenant nearly as well as Typhlosion. I've played so many more games of Typhlosion, and I want to like it but I also like winning, and the moment I queue up Typhlosion I tank back down to 1500, switch to Trev, back up to 1700.

Is Typhlosion really this bad right now?

Discussion Is Juho Kallama the best Team Rocket Mewtwo player?

Post image

He decided to bring what many would consider a Tier 3 deck, with several unfavorable matchups in the current meta, and still managed to finish in Top 93.
Is this proof that he’s one of the best Team Rocket Mewtwo players out there?

Discussion Dragapult Opinion

Post image

Ok, I’m sure people have done this, but I just feel weird cause of recent dialogue.

Is Dragapult a hard deck to play?

Personally I don’t think so. In my area we actually recommended Dragapult for beginners when I first started playing again last year and still do. After a month of playing it I went on a streak of 13 in a row on live and got 2nd irl (1st was a mirror).

Am I gaslighting myself here? Also here is a lazy meme as payment for your trouble.

Discussion why are people like this

Post image

how to deal with people who stall timer on every card they play cause they know they are about to lose and once the turn is over they just concede , even tho you want to annoy the opponent these guys put so much effort to wait till timer turns 0 to play a move , if they put half the effort in the game they can win , like just respect your opponent guys, i get it if you are mad and ragequit or go afk but stalling timer for 7 moves in 1 turn is just a new low

Discussion Deck 1/30: Off the Grid

I'm making 30 themed decks in 30ish days, for the 30th anniversary. This is my Off the Grid deck that doesn't use any energy cards. There's a version for the expanded format too. It's designed to cut off my opponents set up at the knees with big back end swings for the comeback. It went 3/5. (I don't really know what flair to put these under)

Discussion How did Andew Hedrick win Round 14 vs Crustle with this list?

Post image
98 Upvotes

I just played that list against crustle a few times and there is no way how its possible to win, atlesast in my knowledge sight. Can someone explain to me? Cause if you powerup dudunsparce and attack with it he cant oneshot it -> then you can go for munkidori shananigans but if he has at least 1 spike energy on it he just kills the dudunsparce. In my instance my enemie jsut didnt attack into dragapult so i got no damage to move. when i attacked with munki or anything else he jsut oneshot it and didnt got confused because of mist energy. Iam genuently curios how he did manage to win that round.
