Dime Detective Magazine was one of the major American pulp detective magazines, launched in November 1931 by Popular Publications. It specialized in fast-paced crime, mystery, gangster, and hard-boiled detective fiction, featuring many prolific pulp writers, including Erle Stanley Gardner, who would later become famous for creating Perry Mason. During the 1930s the magazine appeared frequently—at this point twice monthly—and was known for its lurid, action-oriented cover paintings and inexpensive 10-cent price. It continued publication through the golden age of the pulps, eventually ending with its August 1953 issue after more than two decades and 68 volumes.
