Weed While Quitting
Has anybody tried smoking weed to quit? I'm running into the issue that I can't taper because the kratom high helps me sleep at night. I'm thinking about maybe switching to weed so I can still get some sort of high that helps me sleep and then take a small amount of capsules just to ward off withdrawals while I taper. Has anybody done this?

I went cold turkey and was using as much weed as possible and it helped a lot in general but I can’t say it helped with sleep as much as it normally does. The withdrawal overpowered it and left me laying in bed trying to sleep for an hour or two, I would sleep soundly after that though. Tapering could be a different story.

Tapered and smoked. Similar experience but my drawals weren’t too bad from tapering down.

Smoked an ounce my first week. 😬 I don’t know about recommending it but it helped me lol.

I found THC to greatly exacerbate my anxiety while quitting, but CBD and CBN to really help alleviate that same anxiety. You could try a very small dosage of THC, with a lot of CBD 🤷♂️
I really relied on kratom for sleep as well. I’m 8 days into my quit, and I’ve personally allowed myself to dose a VERY LITTLE bit every night, decreasing that amount every day. This may or may not work for you, it’s certainly setting me back a little bit in the mornings and stretching out my withdrawals longer than a full CT, but I NEED a little sleep at night. It’s still not great sleep cause it’s small doses, but I’m not having RLS all night long.

THC gives me anxiety too, which is why I balance it with CBD or since I’m already on Klonopin for the detox, the anxiety is just taken care of that way.

Interestingly enough, weed general makes me incredibly anxious, but my anxiety was so peaked and my rls was so bad, I was actually able to start using it and it has been feeling like I think most people feel on it.
Id say doesn't hurt to try if you are able.

Weed can help but I would lower your weed dose as much as you can. As thc during detox can make depression and WD's worse at times

I went on a weight loss plan with GLP-1 whilst using 7-OH. Truth be told my cravings for 7-OH diminished and for coffee. I know Crazy. A pal of mine quit drinking on GLP. 🤷🏼♀️ 🤷🏽♂️

Edibles are your best friend. Get some indica edibles and you’re going to be fine. They saved me during my taper

I tapered and smoked all the way thru. Could only smoke indica during withdrawal though and even now 15 months later that's all I can do. The other strains make me way too anxious. I have always been able to smoke what I want when I want, but not post kratom. Indica only and easy on it in the a.m. Can make me super anxious in the morning. I'm 60. Been using thc most of my life. Not letting it go. At least not right now. I don't have the strength to quit anything after kratom withdrawal. Need more time before I tackle any other vices. Thc, nicotine, caffeine, sugar, ... I don't even wanna think about it. Post kratom life has been great after the 1st 6 months and then all of the sudden this week it's like I had another round of healing or something. I can't even explain it. The taper, the quit, the withdrawal... worth the commitment. Good luck!

I agree with other comments. Helped in general, but not necessarily with sleep.

I believe their is no difference between indica and sativa nowadays. They've messed with the genetics way too much. Hybrids.. they're all freagin hybrids.

I’ve always smoked weed so no judgement here. However, the need to feel high is probably your root issue and switching to something else may not be a wise idea if recovery is what you’re after.

I absolutely know that but I have quit weed very easily in the past and I would love to switch to something with little to no withdrawals while I am dealing with that because kratom is ruining my life a million times worse than weed ever did

I went ct off 300-500mg 7oh daily for over a year. The only helper med I used was RSO. Motrin for aches and pains. It got me off 7oh and 8 years ago alcohol. I used it for the first 2-3 weeks daily and stopped when I felt i didn’t need it any more.

No. Doesn’t help at all. I quit THC and booze at the same time. It was the only way I was able to quit. Walks, therapy (CBT, dopamine therapy, and neural pathways), and breathing exercises.

I'd recommend edibles. Smoking is okay, but it sometimes increases anxiety, even when tapering off

Went cold turkey after a rapid 7 day taper waited about 2 weeks because I quit weed before kratom about 2 months before, so I was hesitant to start again but about 14 days into the withdrawals I started smoking weed again and it for sure kept me sane and good for months afterwards but it won’t help your sleep , nothing will, besides a benzo which sometimes also won’t help

I've never taken any THC. Kratom was my only high outside of some drinking when I was younger.
The first time I quit Cold Turkey, I didn't use anything to get me through. It obviously sucked, but after 5 days or so, I was able to get 4-5 hours of sleep.
This last time the sleep was even worse, I ended up getting some gabapentin around day 6 and that helped tremendously. I used it only at night, and for about 10 days. I had zero Withdrawal from the gabapentin.
The issue is, gabapentin is becoming a scheduled drug in more states, so it's not as easy to get from an online Dr.
It might be worth talking to a Dr and telling them you'd like to quit Kratom, and you'd like a 2 week course of helper meds to sleep. Decline their Suboxone. Say that the sleep is the biggest hurdle, and you've read about it helping people.
