State of Arr Reddit

Hi All,

We've removed the mod that the reddit team so graciously lent us to re-open the reddit. Nothing against him, but trust is earned, and there's too much responsibility involved to leave this community in just anyone's hands.

That being said, we'll leave the reddit open, but are searching for new moderators that are interested in dealing with all that comes with moderating a reddit community of this size. Feel free to stop by Discord for a chat if you are interest.

In the meantime dev continues and we appreciate all the support and backing from all of the Radarr userbase through the ups and downs.

discussion Dashboarr 1.17.0: free *arr app adds 6 services (26 total) on Android/iOS

Dashboarr 1.17.0 is out, and this one is mostly about new integrations: Deluge, Bindery, Navidrome, NZBHydra2, Autobrr and Cleanuparr.

Quick context for anyone who hasn't run into it before. Dashboarr is a mobile app for managing a self hosted media stack from your phone, Android and iOS. It's free and GPL-3.0, no account, no ads, no premium tier, nothing to unlock later. The app talks straight to your own services over their APIs, so nothing routes through a server of mine. It's heavily inspired by nzb360.

What's new in 1.17.0

Six new services:

  • Deluge. That makes four torrent clients now, alongside qBittorrent, rTorrent and Transmission. Queue, files, trackers, labels, global speed limits. If you run the optional backend it'll also push you a notification when a torrent finishes.
  • Bindery for books and audiobooks. The Readarr successor, rewritten in Go. Library, search and add authors, monitoring, queue, wanted.
  • Navidrome for music. Library stats, now playing, quick and full rescan, delete missing files, playlists, search.
  • NZBHydra2. Meta search across your indexers, send an NZB straight to SAB or NZBGet, indexer health with API hit limits, search and download history.
  • Autobrr. Push stats, release feed with retry, filter toggles, IRC network health and restart.
  • Cleanuparr. Strike, removal and cleanup stats, scheduled jobs you can run on demand, client health, event feed.

The other big change is that service setup finally got its own section instead of being one long list buried in Settings. There's a hub showing what needs attention and what you already run, and a searchable catalog for adding something new. Two things that had been bugging me got fixed on the way: a service that's unreachable only because you're on mobile data now reads as "away" instead of pretending to be broken, and if you run two of the same service, a broken second one no longer hides behind a healthy first one.

Smaller stuff:

  • HTTP Digest auth (RFC 7616) for rTorrent, NZBGet, Glances and Transmission, so a Digest protected reverse proxy works now
  • The Still Pending dashboard widget can filter movies by cinema, digital or physical release date
  • A private remote URL is no longer blocked while a VPN is up
  • Test Connection and the health dots in settings now agree with each other
  • Torrent detail screens stay pinned to the instance they came from when you run more than one client
  • Backend pairing works behind a private CA

What the app actually does

26 services, grouped the way the app groups them:

  • Download clients: qBittorrent, rTorrent/ruTorrent, Transmission, Deluge, SABnzbd, NZBGet
  • Media automation: Radarr, Sonarr, Lidarr, Bindery, Bazarr
  • Indexers: Prowlarr, Jackett, NZBHydra2
  • Media servers: Plex, Jellyfin, Emby, Navidrome
  • Requests and automation: Seerr (Overseerr and Jellyseerr), Autobrr, Cleanuparr
  • Monitoring: Tautulli, Tracearr, JellyStat, Glances, unRAID

It isn't just status screens. You can pause, resume and delete downloads, search and add movies, shows, books and music, approve or decline requests, grab a release from an indexer search, toggle indexers, hunt for missing subtitles, start and stop Docker containers on unRAID, and see what's currently streaming.

A few things worth calling out:

  • A unified dashboard with 31 widgets you can reorder and configure, and multiple dashboards if you want one per server or one per household
  • Multi instance support. Two qBittorrents, a 4K Radarr and a 1080p Radarr, whatever you run. You switch inside the tab and the dashboard aggregates them
  • Local and remote URL per service, with automatic switching based on your home WiFi. When you're away it will never fall back to the LAN URL, on purpose, so you're not spraying an API key at whatever network you happen to be on
  • API keys live in the device's secure storage, not in a plain text config
  • Wake on LAN, so you can wake the server before asking it for anything
  • Config export and import behind biometric auth, so a new phone isn't an hour of retyping URLs
  • A UI scale setting (1.0 / 1.15 / 1.3), because the default really is too small for some people
  • Dark mode only. Sorry.

Push notifications

The app itself needs no server. If you want real push notifications (download finished, request approved, that sort of thing) there's an optional companion backend you self host, Node or Docker, and pair with a QR code. Skip it and nothing else stops working.

What it isn't

No accounts, no cloud sync, no telemetry, no analytics. Single user per install, since the whole architecture is just your phone talking to your servers. There's no paid tier planned and no pro version sitting behind a paywall.

Links

If you try it and something breaks, or a service you use is missing, open an issue. Most of the integrations in this release exist because someone asked for them.

P.S: The IOS version is still submitted, will take a day or two until Apple approves it!

unsolved How to make upgraded media not show up as "recently added" in Plex?

Question in title.

Its skewing my Tautulli Newsletter and also my rails showing stuff that Plex thinks has just been added but it hasnt.

I assume Radarr is deleting the old item and then moving in the new item and so Plex thinks its new.

Is there a workaround for this or just how it is?

waiting for op Can I blacklist a release BEFORE downloading it?

There are a lot of releases for a movie titled "The Odyssey 2026" that are not the same as another movie also titled "The Odyssey 2026." These releases are from known groups that I do not want to add to a blocklist.

How do I blacklist specific files before downloading them?

waiting for op Let Radarr download anyway if no files meet Custom Format threshold?

I currently have my Radarr configured to the Trash Guides Golden Rule for x265 custom format, which has been working great to save space and also make streaming for some of my users smoother.

However, I've been finding when some movies don't have releases that match this, they just won't download anything at all. Is there a way to configure it so it tries to find x265 releases first, and then if it can't, defaults to something else? The custom format rules confuse the shit out of me so apologies if this is something that should be otherwise obvious.

discussion [Show/Share] I built Trawlarr, every TMDB Discover filter in front of Radarr

Radarr's add search takes a title. That's the whole conversation. But I never think in titles. I think "80s horror, rated above 6.5, and not something with 12 votes on it", or "everything A24 has put out".

So my routine was: open TMDB, use their Discover filters, get a list, then copy titles into Radarr one at a time. I did that for about a year before I got annoyed enough to build something.

Trawlarr puts the whole TMDB Discover filter set in front of Radarr. Genres to include and exclude, release window, rating and vote count floors, runtime, original language, origin country, age certification, cast and crew, keywords, production companies, streaming providers. Every result is checked against your library first, so you only see what you're actually missing. Tick what you want, pick your quality profile and root folder, add them all at once. Movies can pull in their whole collection while they're at it.

The part I use every day is the lists. You save a set of filters as a list, and it re-runs every 12 hours and adds whatever new thing matches. "Every A24 release" stopped being something I remember to check. Before you save one it shows you exactly what it would add, how many are new and how many you already own, so there are no surprises the first time it runs.

Sonarr works the same way, with the TMDB to TVDB lookup handled for you.

There's an optional natural language box too. You type "highly rated sci-fi from the 90s" and it sets the filters. That needs a Mistral API key, and without one the button doesn't exist at all. I know not everyone wants an LLM anywhere near their stack.

A few honest things:

* No authentication. It's built to sit on your LAN behind whatever already protects Radarr, and the compose file binds to 127.0.0.1 for that reason.

* Your API keys stay on the server. The browser never sees them. No telemetry, no account, nothing calls home.

* MIT, one container, amd64 and arm64.

docker run -d --name trawlarr -p 8080:8080 \

-e TMDB_API_KEY=xxx \

-e RADARR_URL=http://radarr:7878 -e RADARR_API_KEY=xxx \

-e SONARR_URL=http://sonarr:8989 -e SONARR_API_KEY=xxx \

-v ./data:/data ghcr.io/noxzrcw/trawlarr:latest

https://github.com/NoxzRCW/Trawlarr

Happy to hear what's broken or missing. Mostly I'm curious whether the auto lists are useful to anyone else, or whether I've built a very elaborate thing for one person.

unsolved Can I configure Radarr so it would detect movies outside of their own folders?

Hey, I just spent like 2 hours trying to get my files into dedicated folders. I tried PowerShell, Filetofolder and Files2folder, according to the tutorials on wiki.servarr.com. For some reason, the programs just refuse to do it. It's actually starting to piss me off. Why can't Radarr just detect them?

Powershell says "empty pipe element is not allowed"

Filetofolder says "directory already has a file with the same name" which ISN'T TRUE

Files2folder just says "unable to create destination directory"

I also tried Copywhiz but someone had the genius idea to restrict the configuration to a specific number of starting letters. This means that all the folder names are either cut in half or aren't created at all

Thanks for any help

discussion Did anyone else's Radarr just download the wrong Odyssey?

My Radarr just grabbed this movie thinking it was Nolan's Odyssey: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt41605854

Amazing gambit by these producers, they can probably say their movie was quite popular on the seven seas now.

Edit: Only using Private Indexers, release name was "The.Odyssey.2026.1080p.WEB-DL.DDP5.1-2.0.H.264...etc"

unsolved Change the behavior of import a file after a download

I want to be able the download multiple quality versions of the same movie and import them to the same folder after.

Currently, through Radarr, if i download a movie at 1080p and then again at 2160p, Radarr will detect the upgrade to the current file and delete the lower quality version. If i download first the 2160p version and later a 1080p the file will download, but it will not be imported to their folder with the following error:

One or more movies expected in this release were not imported or missing
- Not an upgrade for existing movie file. Existing quality: Bluray-2160p. New Quality Bluray-1080p."

So, when I want different quality version for the same movie I first download the highest quality, then the lower quality, and when that error appears, I manually copy the file to the correct folder. I don't want to have to do this all the time.

Is there a way to change this behavior? Like import the file anyway without deleting the previous, or don't check if there are more versions. I've been looking into this for hours on the internet and didn't find a solution.

Thanks

discussion Organizing media/libraries by movie rating; PG13, R, etc.

My plex libraries are by rating, for example my youngest kid can see G, and PG, my preteen can see those plus PG-13 libraries. and my wife and I can see those plus R movies. my media server is plex. In radarr i have my download folder as a subdir of the root folder becuase i dont want to dump all movies in one root folder (library). I've tried searching this and I've seen folks doing something similar, but separating by resolution instead and having multiple radarr/sonarr instances. Any other way to do this? all my machines are linux and my media is nfs mounted from my nas. and my media is requested using seerr. my flow right now is after it's downloaded, i manually copy the mp4/mkv to the folder library i want it in. i would love to automate this somehow

unsolved How do I get radarr to "upgrade" to IMAX?

I downloaded a movie in a blu ray remux which is my highest quality. I realized that it has an IMAX Enhanced version which I would prefer over the highest quality. I set up a custom format for IMAX releases with a 100 score. When I manually search for the movie it shows that the score is +100 but shows an error that the quality profile is already matched. Is there any way to override that and have it upgrade even though the quality is met?

unsolved Anyone have any lists to import Broadway recordings?

Is there a list I can import into radarr of filmed stage productions, musical adaptations, etc of Broadway shows?

Would really like to be able to watch some of the official recordings of plays/musicals/etc from Broadway type shows.

Like how Hamilton was recorded for viewing a few years back. Hoping for a list of similar films.

thanks

solved [GUIDE] simple recyclarr sample config with space saving

I see no guide on recyclarr, so I take the liberty to be the good Martian to share what I have. If you are looking for simple set-and-forget recyclarr setup that also get optimize sized videos, this is for you.

I am running recyclarr docker on Synology NAS but the setup for others is similar. Currently recyclarr docker update is tight to particular major release, currently is 8. so create a docker-compose.yml file in a directory of your choosing.

services:
  recyclarr:
    image: ghcr.io/recyclarr/recyclarr:8
    container_name: recyclarr
    user: 1000:101
    restart: unless-stopped
    environment:
      - TZ=America/New_York
    volumes:
      - .:/config

Update user uid and gid with the same ownership as your current directory.

Run it once to create the necessary files and dirs.

docker-compose run --rm recyclarr config create

You should see some files and folders created. If you don't see any new files, check the user uid above, if you are not tech savvy, you may comment out user with # to run as root admin.

Look for a file called recyclarr.yml, make a backup and open the file and add below.

radarr:
  radarr:

base_url: your radarr or sonnar url
api_key: your radarr or sonnar api keys (not my real keys)
type: movie or series
preferred_ratio: between min quality 0 and max quality 1, 0.01 will give you highly optimized videos
p2p-scene: file names with . instead of spaces, easier to use in unix. with above setup, the anime naming also inherit 2p2-scene without additional setup.
propers_and_repacks: do_not_prefer # this is required for renaming to work.

For more information please see official doc: https://recyclarr.dev/reference/configuration/

After done. run it and check log.

docker-compose up -d;docker logs -f recyclarr

You should see two lines, read crontab and starting crontab, with no errors.

time="2026-08-23T21:36:39-04:00" level=info msg="read crontab: /tmp/crontab"
time="2026-08-24T00:00:00-04:00" level=info msg=starting iteration=0 job.command=/cron.sh job.position=0 job.schedule=@daily

Press ctrl-c to stop checking logs, go into recyclarr and start your first sync (backup your radarr and sonnar config files first)

docker exec -it recyclarr bash
recyclarr sync

You should see it start syncing. For me I have checkmarks because they are all synced, if it's your first time you should see number of items synced.

After you are done, exit the container.

exit

Go back to radarr and sonnarr and you should see everything is setup, go to quality and check quality definitions, the preferred bandwidth is set about 2x-3x minimum size which should give you a decent optimized size, remember this is preferred size, radarr/sonnar are free to download any other size if preferred size is not found.

By default recyclarr sync from trash guide and your config once a day, which is good.

Hope it helps.

solved Folder setup not working

Disclaimer: I'm new to all of this, homelabs and the *arr-stack. I've used copilot to help set things up. I used it for qbittorrent+proton and jellyfin (and other services, not relevant here). All of that is working. I'm using proxmox and docker, with docker compose files.

I don't want to use it for the rest of the *arr stack, no need to give it to much information and I wanted to figure as much out as I could myself to try and learn this.

Trying to setup Radarr, I found Trash Guides to the folder setup and thought I had it set up as described there, but now I'm getting an error in Radarr under "System->Status" that the folder in qbittorrent set for downloads doesn't exist.

It does exist, so I assume there is something i'm missing.

When I setup qbit, I created a disk and mounted it as /srv/downloads. It's in the qbit compose file and fstab. I can also see it when i log on with winscp.

Thinking I could reuse that, I used that instead of the data-folder. My setup looks like this:

downloads
├── torrents
│ ├── incomplete
│ ├── watch
│ ├── torrents
│ └── complete
│ ├── movies
│ └── tv
├── usenet
│ ├── incomplete
│ └── complete
│ ├── movies
│ └── tv
└── media
    ├── movies
    └── tvdata

I'm not planning on using this for books and music, so left those out.
I've added the incomplete, watch and torrents folders for torrents, as those where there before, thinking that as long as the other folders needed was there, this was fine.

I put the new download folder (/downloads/torrents/complete) in settings in Qbittorrent and connected qbit and Radarr, but now get the error that this folder doesn't exist.
I did not put any download folder in the radarr compose file.

Anyone has any idea where I went wrong?
If you need any more information, please just ask.

solved Permission issues using radarr's recycling bin feature

Note this is on Unraid using the linuxserver image of radarr.

At first, radarr was messing up the permissions of files it downloaded by preventing my SMB user account from being able to edit the contents of the folders it created. I managed to finally fix this by setting chmod Folder in the permissions section of radarr to "777".

However, for whatever reason, this setting does not seem to be respected in radarr's recycling bin feature. So whenever files and folders are created in the folder set to be the recycling bin folder, my SMB user account is getting blocked from making any changes to this folder (despite the fact that my SMB user account is the owner of the recycling bin folder). Radarr is basically making it read only for my SMB user account.

According to Unraid, the folders and files being generated in the recycling bin folder are owned by "nobody" (this is normal as the "nobody" user is Unraid's built in user account I think) and their permissions are set to "drwxr-xr-x". It is this permission that is messing me up.

I need radarr to change these permissions to "drwxrwxrwx" instead, in order for my SMB user account to gain full write access to the files and folders being generated in the recycling bin folder.

My PUID is 99, PGID is 100 and UMASK is 022 in radarr's docker container settings. These are the correct settings for Unraid user account system layout.

Help?

Edit: Fixed it! Turns out the Internet is wrong. The correct UMASK is 000. Not 022. Apparently 022 will only work if the SMB account and the radarr user account are members of the same user group. The problem here is that Unraid does not support user groups! So there's literally no way to associate the SMB account and the "nobody" account that radarr is using to operate such that they both inherit the same permissions. So it makes the file access less secure, but that is moot since the higher level folders are controlled by other users and other permissions anyway. Kind of a stupid limitation of Unraid, but there you go.

unsolved updating radarr to show plex added movies

So I have my downloading on a seedbox. Radarr/Sonarr are on that seedbox. Plex is local, as is Overseerr.

Overseerr sends a request to radarr/sonarr. Sonarr/Radar downloads it using the seedbox. The files get moved to plex and delted off the seedbox, but the sonarr/radarr is only seeing the folder doesn't have the file. I've stopped downloading through that in the meantime, as I only have 1tb, but how do I get it to say "Ok, the file is on plex... let me update it as such"?

discussion I built Babel — automatic subtitle fallback for Radarr

Update — v2.5.0-beta: OpenRouter and DeepSeek support are now available, along with Plex library refresh support and major improvements to the AI provider/model system, translation pipeline, source handling and usage tracking. Thanks for all the beta feedback so far!

I’ve been building Babel, a self-hosted subtitle automation service for Radarr, Sonarr and Bazarr.

GitHub: https://github.com/hugomossberg/Babel

The goal is simple:

Connect it to your media stack, choose your target language, and stop thinking about subtitles.

When Radarr imports or upgrades a movie, Babel takes over automatically.

Radarr import → check for target subtitle → Bazarr search + prepare fallback → AI only if needed → recovery → QA → publish

In Hybrid Mode, Babel lets Bazarr search for a human-made subtitle while it prepares an embedded or external source subtitle in parallel.

If Bazarr finds the target language, Babel uses it.
If not, Babel can translate automatically with Gemini, OpenAI, DeepL, Ollama, OpenRouter or DeepSeek.

The other thing I wanted to avoid was blindly trusting AI output. Babel validates translations before publishing them and checks for dropped cues, broken structure, untranslated dialogue, wrong-language output and timestamp changes. Recoverable problems are retried automatically.

AI translation is the fallback, not the workflow.

Current beta features include:

  • Radarr and Sonarr webhook automation
  • Bazarr + AI Hybrid Mode
  • Embedded subtitle extraction
  • Gemini, OpenAI, DeepL, Ollama, OpenRouter and DeepSeek
  • Automatic translation recovery
  • Structural + language QA
  • Exact source-to-target timestamp preservation
  • Remote Path Mapping
  • Jellyfin and Plex library refresh
  • Docker deployment

The idea is that Babel should be something you configure once and then mostly forget exists.

Install it. Connect your media stack. Forget about subtitles.

Docker image:

ghcr.io/hugomossberg/babel:beta

Current release: v2.5.0-beta
License: MIT

This is the first public beta, so feedback and ugly real-world subtitle edge cases are very welcome.

If you try it, I’d much rather hear what breaks than just get a star. 🙂

solved Is this possible?

Scenario: I want to create 2 "quality profiles" for 2160p content. One is for files that are between 15-30GB in size. The other is for files that are between 50-100GB. I know I can do this using the "custom formats" feature and adding them to their respective quality profiles. I then set the smaller size quality profile as a score of 1 and the larger quality profile to a score of 2. This way I can select between the 2 file size ranges depending on how much HDD space I want to allocate to a particular file. Both profiles are associated up to and including 2160p remuxes.

Here's the problem: Doing the above means any movie assigned to smaller quality profile, ignores the size limit because radarr will instead seek out the highest possible custom format score and completely ignore the smaller custom format restriction. I believe this happens because there does not appear to be a maximum format score function in radarr. Unfortunately the "Upgrade Until Custom Format Score" option is not a maximum (it is basically another minimum score level that radarr allows to be passed if a higher scored file is detected).

I did think about just trying to split them based on their quality profile (i.e. blurays vs remuxes). But the problem with that is that sometimes the bluray files are larger than remuxes and sometimes remuxes are larger than blurays.

Am I missing something here that can solve this problem?

Thanks!

discussion What's the current best solution for importing Letterboxd lists?

Hi guys,

I first tried ListSync to import my Letterboxd lists and sync them automatically, but it was too unreliable. It would often get completely the wrong films or not work entirely. As such, I started using letterboxd-list-radarr which worked well but has unfortunately just stopped working. What is everyone else using? I only use Letterboxd for lists, so not really looking to switch to IMDB/Trakt/etc, looking for a tool which will let me use letterboxd.

discussion Made a scraper for "Last.fm" to automatically pull your "recommended artists" from Last.fm, associate those with musicbrainz ID's and then format them into a JSON list for use with Lidarr in the "Import Lists" section as a "Custom List"

Sharing this here too only because I assume most people are like myself, and if they're running one 'arr, they're running as many as they can setup (or at the very least all the primary ones).

I made this a long time ago (myself), but wanted to make something other people could use. Threw what I had made into a self hosted LLM (Qwen 3.8) and after some back and forth got it where I wanted it. So there's your "AI warning" if you need one lol.

https://github.com/FantasyMaster85/LastRecommendations

Screenshots and instructions are there.

The summary is that you put your last.fm cookies in the docker compose file, every 25 hours (or whatever you configure it to do) it will check this page: https://www.last.fm/home/artists and pull the recommended artists in. It then takes those artists and get's their MusicBrainz ID (as the "custom list" in Lidarr requires it) and makes a JSON feed. That JSON feed is fully compatible with Lidarr.

Lastly, it keeps a history of all artists Last.fm has ever recommended to you in the "history" tab.

I personally use PlexAmp as my exclusive form of music consumption, and I have it setup to scrobble all my plays to Last.fm. This was just a good way to help me automate finding good new music. Hope you like it!

I am using several reputable trackers and still having this issue with my automation picking up bootleg movies that are mislabeled or identified as 1080 webDLs.

To try and fix this I have been manually updating the LQ custom format to include more release groups.

The latest (of many) is spiderman by "DKS"

Below are the release groups I've added to the LQ custom format, in case it is helpful to you all. Please feel free to share any others you have come across (or suggest regex improvements to my list) so we can update this list to avoid mislabeled bootlegs.

Perhaps trashguides can be updated for some of these as well, if we are largely in agreement on them.

Under LQ for Release Group I've added:

Ben the Men - regex: (?i)^ben$

I know Ben is already in the LQ and LQ release title custom formats in trashguides, but, due to how much variation there is in how his name is on releases, I have found this regex to do a much better job of keeping his stuff out of the automation. I recommend adding this one to Sonarr too.

TSRG - regex: ^TSRG$

RBB - regex: (?i)^rbb$

FS - regex: ^(FS)$

Robo29 - regex: ^(Robo29)$

Bothd - regex: ^(bothd)$

Yellow - regex: ^Yellow$

LuCY - regex: \b(LuCY)\b

DKS - regex: ^DKS$

unsolved Is there any way to auto-create folders for this?

Hi, I have a whole bunch of movie files that are not in folders. I need each movie to move into its own sub-folder since that is the way Radarr works. Does anyone know how I can do this in an automated way so that I don't have to manually create a million folders and move each file myself?

Thanks!

solved Radarr on load showed Downloading more RAM, is it safe?

So I have been running radarr as a container alongside sonarr, prowlarr, jellyfin and qbittorrent. I powered on my laptop this morning and just connected to different Wi-Fi, opened radarr, it showed text like Downloading more RAM, with radarr logo only. I am running Fedora, is this just something the devs added for fun, or should I look into it?

EDIT: yeah its just a prank, it has tons of messages
