Soooooo basically i've been trying to get a job for FOREVER. started with HR positions because why not, I have the experience. got ZERO callbacks. not even a "thanks but no thanks" email. NOTHING. i literally said i'd do payroll too like hello?? still got ghosted harder than my situationship.

so i said fuck it, warehouse jobs it is. i thought my resume was chef's kiss enough to at least get me an interview or two but apparently not. this job market is absolutely feral rn, like TF.

also i don't check my email everyday because it gives me anxiety like "who's gonna reject me today? which company's gonna leave me on read?" it's giving trauma response and i'm here for it.

BUT WAIT. plot twist. i finally get an interview scheduled for 11am today. Mind you this was like since Aug 22nd. i didn't see the email i'm nervous, i'm excited, i'm manifesting. and then at 10:15am (literally 45 mins before) i get THIS email saying "position on hold, we'll reach out if something changes"

BITCH. you had ONE JOB. and just BEFORE the interview??? the disrespect is actually insane. i'm not even mad, i'm just impressed by how chaotic this is.

anyway if anyone knows how to manifest employment or has a hookup lmk because clearly the universe wants me to rot. 🙃✨

During the interview, he kept asking who I had sold to, what distributors I knew, what trade shows I had attended. Names. He wanted names.
When I mentioned a specific trade show where I had met big box buyers, he immediately wrote it down. That was actually the only time I saw him take notes during the entire interview.

Then he kept asking me about different supermarkets’ margins.
I told him I don’t know their actual margins. I only had pricing for different customer tiers. Retailers have retail pricing, distributors have distributor pricing. That doesn’t mean I know exactly what margin every customer is making.
Then he said something like, “You sold to 99 Ranch. If you go to 99 Ranch and look at their selling price, you should be able to figure out their margin.”

WTF. Since when does a job interview require the candidate to go figure out a potential employer’s customer margin?
At that point it really started feeling less like an interview and more like free market research.

I’m not saying I know for sure the job was fake. Maybe they really are hiring. But I’m 100% sure he was also using the interview to get market info from me.

This is the second Chinese company I’ve dealt with in the last few months where the interview felt like this. Constant questions about customer names, distributors, pricing, market info, contacts.
Basically treating applicants like free market consultants.

I also emailed their corporate offices in China/Hong Kong and told them exactly what happened and what the interviewer said. No response. Not even an acknowledgment of receipt.
So whatever. The company is Master Kong 康師傅.

If you ever interview with them for a U.S. market role, just know what you may be walking into.

i wanna pivot to reverse engineering work/vulnerability research but im wondering if this is even worth my time if the job market is fucked beyond repair and i’m not gonna get hired

i don’t wanna continue selling video game cheats for income because

1. it makes me feel like shit because i actually play games legit and hate cheaters
2. i feel like my talent can be used for bigger aspirations in general

i really wanna go down the legitimate path and do a real job for money but it doesn’t look promising

It is no secret that people who got the jobs 10-20+ years ago enjoy kicking the ladder beneath them and have came up with numerous amount of interview processes that they themselves never had to go through.

I wonder if there is a good account of all the newly invented interview steps for this generation of job-seekers.

One thing that comes to mind is having to upload a video of yourself talking about something and getting "preinterviewed". Obviously that was never a thing even just a few years ago and now its common in some sectors.

I recently completed the full interview process for a role at Bloomberg. After my final interview, they initially placed my application on hold rather than rejecting me.

At the time, I had another offer and needed to make a decision, so I let the recruiter know and asked whether they could provide an update. They then decided not to progress my application. From what I understood, the team was hiring three people at the same time and wanted all three hires to have similar prior professional experience, which another candidate had more directly than I did.

However, the recruiter was very happy to give me detailed and extremely positive feedback. They made it clear that I had performed well throughout the interview process and that the decision wasn’t due to concerns about my interview performance.

It has now been two months, the position still appears to be open. I did accept the other position however, there have some issues during the onboarding process have made me question whether it will be the right fit.

I’m considering contacting the Bloomberg recruiter and politely asking whether the team might be willing to reconsider my application, especially as I was initially placed on hold and the role is still advertised. I would, of course, make it clear that I understand if their requirements haven’t changed.

Would this be reasonable, or could it come across badly? Has anyone successfully been reconsidered for the same role after initially being placed on hold or rejected?

Has anyone here ever worked 2 recruiting jobs at once? J1 is internal recruitment, potential J2 would be a sourcing contract.

Mine is that “entry level” means entry level.

I keep seeing jobs labeled entry level asking for 2-3 years of experience, multiple interview rounds, assessments, and sometimes requirements that seem completely disconnected from the actual job.

I need some help lol. So, I applied for a Junior Office Management role in Spain and had what I believe was the final interview with the hiring manager on August 13. It went very well from my perspective, and the expected start date was September 2.

Then, on August 24, the recruiter proactively emailed me apologizing for the delay. She said there had been a higher-than-expected volume of applications and internal scheduling issues, and that they were “currently finalizing the next steps” and would update me as soon as possible. I replied the same day saying I was still very interested.

I heard nothing for another week, so today (Aug 31) I followed up with the recruiter. I immediately got an OOO saying she’s away and will return September 2 — the same date they originally wanted the candidate to start.

Now I’m wondering: does this sound like I’m still genuinely in consideration and the process is simply delayed, or could they have already chosen someone else and be keeping me as a backup? Does the OOO returning on the original start date mean anything?

Came across this Instagram reel that captures my experience with every company currently “hiring”. I have not seen any job opening in the past 12 months that did not require at least one homework assignment PLUS presenting that assignment, sometimes followed by a one day onsite. This is on top of the 5-6 rounds of interviews that extract information from you and leave 3-5 minutes at the end for questions that they don’t have time to answer.

In most cases the assignment is meant to solve a company specific business issue, and sometimes you are being evaluated by a person who doesn’t know your area of expertise. This screams free labor and it’s crazy that so many candidates have been ok with this for so long that companies are asking for it without blinking.

Another weird thing is recruiters (internal or external) are faking strong interest from the company to ensure you stay motivated and bend over backwards to comply with their insane process. Even when it’s very obvious you are not a good fit for the skills they need, they pretend your experience is fantastic, so they can reject you after squeezing every ounce of value out of you.

Is anyone else experiencing this? For people who received job offers recently - did you have to work on take home case studies and present them?

Applying for new jobs, and I've done some call centers including customer support for another phone company, so why did this phone company reject me THRITY MINUTES after I finished their stupid little assessment!? How is this fair that i dont even get to speak to a human?

I've DONE this job before and now because of some test and some robot reviewing it, they dont even give you the time of day?

Edit: the assesment was one of those "this doesnt affect anything, click on which option you like best" and all of the questions were about managing a team or coworkers, not really anything about customer service, which is what the job is for.

So I'm unemployed. I've looked for many jobs but haven't found anything. Many people in my country are suffering from unemployment, so it's a national problem.

Anyway, I got a job interview appointment a long time ago, but the place was far away, and my father refused to drive me because he told me I should look for better jobs, like government jobs, even though I need the money. He told me he would give me money if I wanted it.

A week ago I told him I needed an installment for about $1000, which was the salary for that simple job.

But he got upset and said he needed the money for more important things, and I told him he didn't have to complain if he wanted me to get specific jobs.

I have a DUI on my record, got arrested last year, and went to court this January,
Since I have lost my job due to fail to pass the security clearance with other company, I am really anxious and nervous. it is defense sector company, start up size.
Will I get a chance to disclose it before they run me through?
If I being totally honest, will I be able to pass?

The founder (a Shark Tank Colombia guy) has already dumped $11 million of his own money into it, and they've pulled in $22 million total from more than 50 investors so far.

So basically: fully AI-run hiring pipeline, and now selling shares in that mission to the general public.

A little bit of background - I was contacted for this opportunity by a manager I used to work for a few yeara ago. In this roll I would be reporting directly to him, he thinks very highly of me and we had a really good working relationship when we worked for the same company. I've already went through 4 rounds of interviews, which included regional VP, division VP, HR VP and other department heads.

Every interview went really well, I received a verbal job offer 3 days after my final interview. the hiring manager told me there are several internal issues that need to be resolved before he can extend the official written offer letter and it will take some time. I know what these issues are as he was very transparent about it. However, It has now been 5 weeks since he told me I got the job. I did reach out to him 3 weeks ago and he reassured the offer is coming but, the issues haven't been resolved.

I am getting very impatient and would to reach out again but, I am not sure how to go about it. Him and I have a very good rapport and I can simply call him or text him but, I don't want to seem desperate or pushy.

Secondly, I am now been recruited by another company that has a similar roll and about the same salary. However, This recruiter is moving way faster and looks like things will probably drop into place way sooner. I don't want to turn down this company because I got a verbal job offer but, I also dont want to stay on the limbo with the first company as they aren't resolving their internal issues to bring me on board.

I feel that if I tell the first company that I am being recruited by another company, it might be a double edge award to where I can potentially lose the opportunity but again, I think putting pressure on the first company might move the needle to finally get a written offer letter.

Any advise? how should I proceed with a follow up?

I am applying for Call Center jobs since translation market is very fucked up. I know you should hide your degree when applying to these kind of jobs but it still appear on my linkedin profile and I do not know which lie tell. Because I know keeping the degree and telling I gave up searching in the translation industry because job market is fucked is not an option. (Although it is what I said this time because I am tired of this question).
