Opinion Monetization idea
In addition to standard ad posts, there could be an ability to 'promote' a post or comment. You could sort by 'promoted' and it would correlate to how much has been spent on that post/comment. Advertisers could spend cash for promotion points and distribute them to posts/comments as they see fit. Reddit subscribers would also get a set amount of promotion points to spend each month and could pay for more.
As long as it's transparent and independent from the voting system, and you can sort by either I don't see how/why it would negatively impact user experience.

Isn’t that what gold and platinum are for? Otherwise, there are sponsored posts

How much does it cost to give gold or platinum? I'm imagining something more granular

I can imagine a UX where it maybe highlights your comment in colour if you pay like Twitch's bits. Not super intrusive on the user experience if you can learn to tune it out, extra Reddit revenue if people want to meme a certain topic.
Like if we wanted to do replies of "we" "did" "it" "reddit" if it were like a dollar to highlight people might do it for shits and giggles.

Why would you want to see paid posts ? What value does that give to user? Isn’t that what an advertisement is?
I think the end user does not want to see biased promoted posts / kinda the whole point of Reddit is discussion without paid bias crap
