Lasted me through 2 presidencies, 3 jobs, and too many beers to count. Gone but never truly forgotten.
She served me well over the years. When I had important interviews and dates, she was there for me. And when the lid-lock sensor broke, I was there for her.
A true legend. Tried like hell to save her today but her heart (dc power supply) was too far gone.

I found this slide. What’s the worst possible idea I could use it for?

I found this playground slide.

I have absolutely no practical use for it, which means obviously I need to do something stupid with it.

Looking for ideas that are terrible in concept but preferably not hospital-level terrible in execution. Key point: it does not need to be useful lol.

What should I build/do with it?

Photo for scale/inspiration.

Gives the real ones time to run from our national bird. About twice a week we get to hear a pissed off raptor screech.

My car visor was broken for years and I had a moment of inspiration while at home depot for a way to jury rig it back into place.

Problem Solved

My beautiful wife complained that nobody wants to stay in the guest room with all the old loud servers and network gear in there. That gave me an idea, since nobody wants to use the bed apparently, I found a new use for the bed slats. Now to figure out what to do with the mattress before she gets back from her girls weekend...

I just saw another David bradley tractor conversion on here so I thought I'd post my mowercycle.

The intention was to use road legal tires and make a road legal motorcycle eventually. It currently gets to about 25-30 and then it gets squirrely due to the worn out plain bearings on the front wheels. Gotta replace with good ball bearing wheels.

I got about this far and moved on to other projects, but I'll come back to it.

Overestimated the length of wood we needed at the store so at home we used a drill to cut the wood and the asphalt outside to sand it

Broken glasses day

Post image
24 Upvotes

I had a cheap pair of reading glasses to use for a while after having cataract surgery.

The screw holes for the hinges were in the plastic, so naturally the thread of the screws stripped the threads in the frame with the result that the screws fell out and the ear pieces fell off.

I drilled the holes in the frames all the way through, then used short pieces of steel wire to hold the earpieces from another (also broken) pair of glasses on.

I used them for about a month like this while waiting for the prescription to stabilize after the surgery and while waiting for a good pair to be made to my new prescription.

Reminded of the whole mess by this post:

Second story box bridge

I am moving from one apartment to another in the same complex and I was not thrilled at the prospect of dragging all my stuff down a flight of stairs only to drag it all back up a different set of stairs. Luckily I was able to make a box bridge/ramp from my bedroom window to the second story walkway where my new place is.

All I needed was the closetmaid wire shelving I had lying around, a few zip-ties, and my friend Kenny. I got the idea from the time one of my cats got out of the window and jumped onto the opposite railing. 100% success. We moved about two dozen boxes and other objects in under an hour.
