I’ve updated the torso length of my previous pattern and made this version into a standard-length version. I’m looking for a few sewists who would be interested in testing the updated pattern
Pattern information:
It’s a fit & flare panel dress with lining, and I’d say it’s suitable for a confident beginner who is comfortable with basic garment sewing.
The pattern includes US sizes 0–16, and I’m hoping to have 1–2 sewists across each size so I can see how the updated grading and fit work on different bodies.
Feedbacks:
- How does the fit feel?
- Is anything confusing in the sewing instructions?
- Did you run into any problems while assembling or sewing the pattern?
- A couple of photos of your finished dress (front + back would be wonderful!)
You don’t need to be an expert sewist at all. I’d actually love to hear from sewists with different levels of experience.

I'd recommend for the best drape,choose lightweight woven fabrics with a fluid hand. Avoid heavy or stiff fabrics, as they will change the silhouette and movement of the dress.
For size12 , you will need around 2.5 yd for main fabric and 2 yd for lining.

I am way too slow of a sewist to ever be a tester haha.
I do have some feedback you might be interested in: right now the bust shaping through the midline gathers sits just a tad too high. On your sample too much of the bust shaping ends up above the apex of your model, causing excess fabric there.
I find the sizes in letters problematic and might be confusing. Size EU 48 is also not a 4XL, but a XL or 2XL at most.
I would suggest using UK - GER - ITA sizes for Europe, instead of a generic EU, because there is a huge difference between a size 48 from each of these countries. German 48 for example, would be a 52/54 in Italy.
I say this as someone who needs big sizes for the upper body.
Sizing can vary quite a bit between brands and different sizing systems, so I’ve included the actual body measurements for each size to make it easier to choose based on measurements rather than the letter/number size. I’ll also make it clearer that the letter and EU size labels are only approximate.
Im interested! Im a size 14 or 16 depending on the scale used. I have small shoulders and a big chest. It would be an interesting challenge to see how the pattern adapts to someone with a big chest
Probably 14 but i might have to grade the pattern and use the size 12 for shoulder and waist measurements. Is the pattern meant to be tight fitting and supportive or should I be wearing a bra underneath?
The bust is meant to be quite close-fitting since I used the actual bust measurement without adding ease, especially because it’s an open-back design.
As long as you can get a comfortable fit using the bust measurements in the size chart, I think it should be okay :)

I’d suggest choosing the size that gives you a comfortable fit around the hips, and then slightly grading/altering the other areas from there. I think that’ll be more comfortable for you.

Oh, yes. That will be wonderful. My daughters and I both are 5 feet,nothing. She is UK 12 and EU 38-40. With US sizing she will need a bit of hip and waist adjustment for size 8.
I am size 16 ( without any boobage ) but I also cradle a apron belly so I consider myself out of the game.
