How come my skin is fine?

So i was never really taught to shave and I just kinda picked up the razor and went away with it cuz I thought I knew what I was doing. My shaving cream ran out so I just continued to shave normally whenever I take a shower and to this day I just grab my razor and shave against the grain to cut it all off 😭 i know its bad but my question is how come I dont get razor bumps, itchiness or ingrown hairs when for all this time I basically just run it along my face and get no cuts.

FYI I only saw today online you aren't supposed to shave against the grain or without cream

Shaver Recommendations

Hey hey, I've been meaning to gift my boyfriend a decent shaver that gives him the baby skin effect after a shave at the barbers. He says his barber back in our home country used an electric shaver and not an actual blade so my question is, could I get some recs on some shavers that will stay preferably under 80€ but will deliver a smooth effect? Thank you :)

I am considering switching to a single blade. Any suggestions?

I’m 22 and I’ve been shaving since I was around 15, but recently I’ve actually started to really enjoy the whole routine instead of just seeing shaving as something I have to do.

There’s something really calming about taking my time with it—shaving, rinsing my face with hot water, putting on moisturizing gel, finishing with aftershave, etc. My brother has one of those traditional single-blade setups with the razor, shaving bowl, brush, the whole shebang.

Now I’m interested in getting a proper setup of my own.

Any recommendations for a newbie? I’d like something good quality that I can keep for a while. I don’t want to spend an insane amount of money, but I also don’t want to buy the cheapest razor I can find and regret it.

Razor, blades, brush, soap/cream, bowl, aftershave—
whatever you guys think is worth getting, throw your recommendations down below! I’m pretty new to this whole world, so I’m open to anything.

which foil shaver is good for a really close shave?

I’ve mostly been using a regular razor, but im thinking about switching to a foil shaver because I’d like to get a closer shave without spending so much time going over the same areas. My beard is fairly thick in some spots, especially around the jaw and neck, so im wondering how well they actually handle that.

which foil shaver has worked well for you? would appreciate any recommendations or personal experience. Thaaanks and i apprecite you all!

What is the best way to prevent razor burn?

I don’t shave my neck often with a straight razor I usually trim my neck hair down with an electric razor so I’d not skin tight.

Last time I shaved I didn’t use any shaving cream. Just a new blade, warm water and lotion on my neck afterwards and I broke out bad with razor burns. Any tips?

I hear taking a warm shower beforehand helps, I’m sure shaving cream helps. Anything else that I should try? I bought one shaving butter I believe it’s called instead of shaving cream!

Gillette Skinguard Alternatives

Hi, I'm looking to get a new shaver and have been eyeing the Gillette Skinguard as it supposedly prevents irritation , which sounds wonderful for my sensitive skin. But further digging has revealed that it doesn't provide a clean shave.

Hoping to get some recommendations for alternatives which can prevent irritation while still providing a clean shave?

Shave or no shave?

I tried doing my research via the internet and have come up empty handed. So, I am turning to Reddit. I (m) was clean shaven up and below..however, I noticed I seemed to smell after getting up from sitting in a chair(wether it’s eating or gaming) even though I shower regularly. I became worried that maybe I smell bad all the time so I left it grow again. I don’t really notice any smell now..but I have heard stories where people could smell what a guy couldn’t. I don’t wanna be that guy..so I’d like some advice.

Does shaving actually make you smell worse?

need help with bumps!

18ftm so these past few years i’ve had to get used to having very thick hair. my legs and bikini line are where i have the most issues. i have super sensitive fair skin and i always get irritation bumps and ingrowns no matter what i do, and they’re SO obvious. i exfoliate, shave with conditioner, glycolic acid after shaving, and use a 10% urea lotion. i’ve tried loads of stuff and this routine is the best i’ve tried but it’s still not good enough. does anyone have any recommendations?

Overkill to shave with a razor then foil shave?

Im fairly young, I just have extremely fast growing facial hair (say I shave at 6am, I’ll see a whole lot of stubble by 1:50), I recently started using a foil shaver this weekend, I did it because it would be a quicker alternative since I had to leave for a XC race at 6am.

I took a look later (around 3pm), I saw no stubble.

So I was just wondering, is there any real negatives/risks of shaving with a razor first, then using a foil shaver to go over the same facial area?

Rotary shaver

I bought the Philips Series 5000X rotary shaver, and honestly, it's one of the worst purchases I've ever made.

It takes me three times longer to shave. I've tried using it every possible way: with the grain, against the grain, in circular motions. It's brand new. I've spent up to 30 minutes using it, applying both light and firm pressure against my skin, and it still shaves terribly.

It cuts very little, it's slow, uneven, and for the first time in my life I've actually experienced irritation in areas of my face that have never been irritated by any other shaver.

I don't see how this could be my fault, but if it is, I'd genuinely appreciate any advice from someone who has had better results with it.

How can I get a completely close shave using only a safety razor (Edwin Jagger DE89BL)?

Hello

I can't seem to get a completely close shave everywhere with my safety razor (Edwin Jagger DE89BL + Astra Superior Platinum Double Edge blades)... I clean the razor of hair regularly by unscrewing the head... But I still miss a lot of hair... Is that even possible? Or maybe it just takes too long... I do it very quickly, in 2 or 3 minutes... . Probably with about ten passes at most....! Is it normal not to get everywhere and to end up with 3 or 4 blades left...? So there’s not much point in having invested in this razor... And this method... I don’t trim, or hardly ever... But there you go...

Thanks !!

Shaver Recommendation

Hi everyone,

I have been using Phillips one blade for the last 6-7 years and it’s been so easy. But I now find the replacement blades to be so expensive that it’s not worth how long they last.

Therefore my question is does anyone have a recommendation for a shaver a available in the UK which is as good or similar level to one blade but has cheaper replacement blades?

Thanks for your help.

Braun series 3 3450 vs Philips Oneblade 360

Which one of these should I get? I have a goatee, so I'm looking for something that cuts the sides very close to the skin (clean shave but don't want to use a razor) and also be able to trim my goatee very short. Which one should I get?

I shaved my arm hair with a razor... Was this a mistake?

Maybe this is just me being paranoid, but I would appreciate opinions if anyone else had a similar experience. I used to have hair on my arms and torso, but they were not as thick as the ones that grow on my legs for example, and much lighter. I had always wanted to shave them, but my mom said you shouldn't shave your arm hair or they will grow back longer, darker, thicker, you know, what is usually said about shaving with a razor. She said they aren't noticeable anyway, but I thought they were and didn't want to keep them. Then, one day my friend told me that she shaves her entire body with a razor, arms included, and showed me her arms which still looked hairless, claiming she had last shaved around 2 weeks ago, and that it's not true they grow back thicker. A few days ago, I finally shaved it, after all if they aren't noticeable, she wouldn't notice right? At first, I loved how smooth my skin finally looked and without any noticeable hairs. But now just a few days later it's starting to grow back, the hair is obviously still very short, but I can't tell if it's growing back the same color it used to be or darker, and I'm concerned about the latter possibility. I really hope I didn't make a mistake after my mom warned me... What do you think?

Quiet electric shaver with close shave?

I'm currently using a Panasonic Arc 5 and while I'm satisfied with the closeness of the shave it's very noisy and it's getting old. The battery life barely lasts two shaves, it's getting very slow at cutting and it's even more noisy than usual.

So I'm looking for a new electric razor which is less noisy and has a comparable shave

Features I'm looking for

- Quiet. For comparison I've used the philips oneblade which is great in terms of how quiet it is, but not so great in terms of performance. (not very effective cutting action and the blades get dull very quickly and cost a lot)

- Small shaving head. One thing I dislike about the Arc 5 is that the head of the shaver is quite bulky.

- wet shave - needs to able to wet shave

- quick shave - needs to shave in as few passes as possible

- close shave

I've thought about getting the braun 3, seems to be on the quiet side?

Alternatively a rotary shaver like the phillips i9000 series, but the head is quite bulky and its pretty expensive. Other rotary shavers Ive heard they dont shave as close as foil shaver.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Does the new GilletteLabs Body + Intimate cartridge fit the Exfoliating Bar / Heated Razor handles?

I already know the GilletteLabs Face cartridge fits both the Exfoliating Bar handle and the Heated Razor handle. Now that Gillette has launched the new Body + Intimate cartridge, I’m guessing it’s probably compatible with the same Face-family handles too, since they’re all under the same ā€œGilletteLabsā€ branding and product line.

Has anyone actually tried snapping a Body + Intimate cartridge onto their Exfoliating Bar or Heated Razor handle? Curious if my guess is right and it just clicks in fine, or if I’m wrong and it turns out to be a different mount. A photo comparing the two cartridge backs would help settle it too if anyone has both on hand.

Thanks!

Razor suggestions

1.Anyone using Gillette fusion 3 and fusion 5 razors? I saw some of them with 4 cartridges and they are quite pricey. How many shaves can they offer? Really need to know. How many shaves these extra cartridges offer?

  1. Also saw some Gellette mach 3 with 8 cartridges on about 4000 taka. Generally in the local shop, there are Gellette mach 3 with no cartridges on about 120 tk, it offers good shaves too. Those who have experiences, can you tell me what is the difference? How many shaves these cartridges offer?

  2. Any good alternatives?

Why doesn't Gillette make a stand for its fusion pro and fusion 5 razors?

They clearly know that people want a stand for their razors. That's why they've made the stand standard (pardon the pun) in all of their Gillette labs razors.

It's very hard to find a good looking, minimalist-yet-effective stand for my Gillette Fusion Pro razor. That just shouldn't be the case. C'mon Gillette!

Best close shave for a good price

For the past few years, I've been using a razor from Dollar Shave Club. However, the shave isn't as close as I want it to be. I've noticed it leaves a fair amount of stubble. I want to make sure there's basically no stubble, especially with my upper lip, which I shave every Sunday and Wednesday cuz I really hate how I look with any mustache hair. Does anyone know a good razor with a really close shave that doesn't cost too much money?

Shaving ass becoming annoying

So i did shave my ass a few times but the afters were never good , from itching to redness and then pimple(idk what they are called )
So i decided to switch to trimming, using an electric razor, very close to, still see the short hairs but it was shaved , but for some reason i still get pimples and its not pretty, its so annoying. I already have an ass hole a little dark on white skin and now this is the cherry on top.
Any tips? I would prefer to wax but isnt available all the time
Any tips on getting rid of those pimples and how to prevent them?

Btw im very very very hairy
