Pretty much the title.

The sign says 4:00-6:30pm does it mean the bus lane is only operational from 4pm-6:30pm is it?

Question PSPO drinking alcohol rules?

The city centre has a PSPO on "drinking alcohol in an antisocial manner". Does that mean I can't have a can or bottle of beer while walking about or sitting down st the Peace Gardens?

Consultation / Survey Uni project - short informal chat about travelling to work - looking for interested volunteers! [repost]

Just posting this once more to reach out to a few more people!

Hi all, I'm Ben! I’m a student at the Uni of Sheffield researching how people experience travelling and getting to work in Sheffield - it’s my dissertation topic!

I’m sure we’d all much rather get around the city faster, cheaper, and more easily… The research I’m doing is basically trying to help make this happen by actually asking what you think!

I'm looking for ANYONE who lives or works in the City Centre, Hillsborough, or Heeley area, and are in some form of paid work (any job counts!) to have a short chat (really informal!) about how you get around in the city - do you drive? Do you take the tram, or the bus?

I’m looking for people with all sorts of experiences and routines, and am loosely focusing on people aged 18-40 (but don’t let that stop you!). Also, anything you say would be fully anonymous, and you’d have complete control over what you’d like to be used in research.

If you're up for it (or know someone who might be), do leave a comment, drop me an email (below) or message me on here, cheers!

Question CityFibre / Gigabit-per-second Internet providers

Is anyone on the newer superfast internet packages - over 1.5Gbps? I've been on PlusNet's 900Mbps package for a while, and it's been good, but I've been seeing broadband speeds going 2x, 3x, even 4x as high in some areas that do up to 5Gbps.

For example, in my postcode, I could go with MTH or Briant and get 2.5Gbps, 1.6Gbps with Zen or potentially up to 5Gbps with Connexin.

Anyone had experience with these other providers (I believe many of them are powered by CityFibre)?

Question Glazier in Sheffield

Anyone recommend a glazier in Sheff? Looking for someone local as I’ve got a double glazed window that has a cracked inner sheet which I imagine will get worse as it gets colder.
Cheers

Event The Turning at Bly Manor at the Drama Studio from 30 Sept - 3 Oct [Theatre - Performing Arts]

Post image

For any theatre and/or horror fans in Sheffield, this world premiere of an original adaptation taking place this month might pique your interest:

The Company presents The Turning at Bly Manor
University Drama Studio, S10 2TD
Wednesday, 30th Sept 2026 - Saturday, 3rd Oct 2026
Doors open at 7pm, show starts at 7:30pm

Image Description: Promotional flyer for The Turning at Bly Manor featuring the actor who plays James in the modern day and The Governess in the past. They are both facing forward and their faces are split in half to create one face. The face of the Governess is screaming and is in sepia tones. A specially crafted folk horror mask that will be used in the play covers the top half of their joint face.

Based on the ghost stories of Henry James, including his novella The Turn of the Screw
Inspired by the Netflix miniseries, The Haunting of Bly Manor, created by Mike Flanagan

Welcome to Bly Manor: the beautiful estate of a dead billionaire and the mysterious home of a timeless secret. In 1899, a young governess is plunged into a world where apparitions abound. In the present day, five people accept an invitation and vanish without a trace. As the past and present intertwine, the carpet of reality unbinds with paranormal consequences.

For tickets: https://www.ticketsource.com/thecompanysheffield/the-turning-at-bly-manor/e-rpzlgd

VENUE ACCESSIBILITY
The Drama Studio's main entrance has step-only access. There is an accessible auditorium entrance located at the side of the building on Sherwood Road. There is ramped access (width: 120cm) to this entrance equipped with handrails where audience members will find a bell/buzzer (height: 120cm) and an intercom (height: 88cm). There is not a canopy or recess which provides weather protection at this entrance. Once inside the theatre, there are designated spaces for wheelchair users in the front row of the auditorium. The nearest accessible toilet is located 12m from the designated seating area. This venue does not provide audio described performances, but there is an infrared hearing assistance system which Drama Studio staff are trained to use. Assistance dogs are allowed in the auditorium.

Firstly, thanks to everyone here who helped me find a venue. It's because of this community I managed to find a place to put on a show.

If anyone is interested in Electronica, the likes of Oneohpointtrixnever, Lapalax, Koreless, Warp Records, this will be right up your street. I have a mad light show for my set too!

I've been to a few electronica gigs in Sheffield recently, and it's great to see the music scene growing here, a lot of cities have lost this but Sheffield still got it!

Here are the details:

Venue: Panke Social

Date: Saturday 3rd October

Time: 7.30pm to 10pm

Tickets: £5 adv or £7 on the door (low funds entry available too)

If you buy an advanced ticket, you get a nicely printed ticket with Akria artwork. It's cheaper too.

Tickets link here: https://dirtforsale.bandcamp.com/merch/gig-ticket-3rd-october-2026

Warning: there are flashing visuals and smoke machines at the show.

I want to help people tackle the ai algorithm / tech bro influenced lifestyle via music / art, so if you're struggling, come on down and have a chat.

Hope to see you there!

Question Meersbrook and Norton Lees buses

Considering moving to Meersbrook and Norton Lees. Can see that the 20 and 18 buses go near where I’m looking at, and was just wondering if anyone can tell me how reliable and frequent these bus services are as I’ve heard that they can be pretty unreliable.

Wanted Secure 24hr office space, with power & fast internet access

Looking for recommendations or testimonials for office spaces fitting the above criteria, Google has plenty of suggestions but I want the full story not just the positive stuff in the adverts.

Need a room in the realm of 150 square feet, budget in the region of £350pm.

I’m based in S10 so closer the better, but can travel ~20 minutes or so.

Question Car tuning

Want to get my car on a rolling road and find out how much power it's making as I recently found out it's been remapped. Anyone got any recommendations for places that can do this?
