Silent Hill 2 (2001) Would Angela straight up attack James if she kept hallucinating that hes her mom?

At the staircase scene its implied that she wanted to kill her mother, so if she never saw james, would she attempt to kill james? Another question is, would james kill angela if she kept seeing him as her mother?

Silent Hill 2 (2001) Is James Sunderland a bad person?

WARNING WARNING!!! THIS IS PURELY SPECULATION AND A MORBIB THOUGHT BY ME!!!!!

Hello! I'm a very new fan of the Silent Hill franchise and I've now watched (ik sinful) Silent Hill 1 and 2 playthroughs and have been wondering about the characteristics of the main character in Silent Hill 2: James Sunderland.

From what I've gathered (might be wrong), James comes to Silent Hill to make up a new reality where Mary has been killed presumably at the hospital instead of he himself having killed his own wife. At the end of game in Mary's letter she writes about the pain she experiences from the disease and how she lashed out at everyone around her including James. With everything at hand, emotional pain, physical pain and mental anguish, could it be argued that James could've cared "a bit too much" about his wife to the point of killing her to get rid of her pain? While James does commit a murder, the game doesn't (in my opinion) ever explicitly try to make James look like a bad person. For example when Maria is manifested and tries to seduce James, he rejects her and purely agrees for her to come with on his mission. This could imply James did love Mary and didn't have the motive of infidelity towards murdering his wife. Furthermore in the letter Mary gave to Laura, she states how James is a good person but just has a difficult exterior.

With all this in mind, is James Sunderland a bad person for having killed his wife or is James truly a good person who made a fatal mistake and now has to deal with the consequences, trauma and regret because of the murder?

Thank you for any responses and very excited to be a new fan of this franchise!

General Discussion A certain slient hill lore videos that gone

After searching high and low on YouTube and reddit, i'm almost convinced that I was in Slient Hill when I watch those videos cause it seem like they were erased from the internet. I know for sure I watch all of them up to Slient Hill P.T. what made it stand out was it would use the song "hometown" from Slient hill 3 as an intro. The videos would go into detail about the production of the game, the lore, bosses, meaning of the monsters and what the represented, and go over all the endings of the games included the gag ones with aliens. Please, I gave up on finding the videso cause I guess they got deleted. I just need to know that they did in fact exist.

General Discussion Obssessed with Heather Mason and silent hill

For the past days all i can think about is Heather Mason. Her blonde her,her sassy attitude, her rude manners, her unmatch clothes, everything.I heard about the SH1 remake they definately have to do a SH3 remake too im not a gamer or anything i just wanna see this game goes to a broader audience. But story wise i think i like SH2 the best

I was never a silent hill fan.Ive heard about the movie and thought it was a movie.Last year my friends were watching the first movie it and somehow it intrigue me and i search it up and boy did it change my world.I dont play video games but the story and lore of this game is amazing.I was first into silent hill 2.The story of James Sunderland and his story of grief, frustration, anger, guild and his confrontation made me realise things i didnt account for in life.Basically confronting your inner demons.I was obssessed with SH2 for months thinking about it and then i thought i moved on my SH phase

Last week i started seeing SH4 The room.Henry Townsend, his room 302.I know SH4 is not not everyones favariote but it made me realise the consequences of being in a room the whole day and not living your life.Im an introvert and dont interact with everyone it will be just a couple of greetings and so on.But the idea of SH4 stuck inside my head. The psychology that if im here alone in my safe comfort room which i think is healing me and not interacting with the world.Im gonna have the same fate. The room like the game heals me at first but later in my life the very room that i find comfort will strip me of my potential in life no friends no one to talk to and seeing my life passed by just everyday.SH franchise is amazing at its story and the psychological impact it has and im glad i found it.Also im in room 302 myself rn lol what a coincidence!

PS: i love all the soundtracks some of my favs are prob Theme of Laura,End of small sanctuary,Promise

General Discussion Is there even a tiny chance the original Silent Hill games could eventually come to Steam?

I know the chances are probably incredibly small, and I'm not expecting Konami to suddenly announce anything like this. I'm mainly just wondering if it's even remotely possible someday.

With the original Resident Evil 1, 2, and 3 recently being released on Steam, it made me wonder whether Konami could ever do something similar with the original Silent Hill games, ideally the first four games.

Silent Hill 2 and Silent Hill 3 are two of my favorite games ever, and I constantly feel like replaying them. I know there are ways to play them through old PC versions, emulation, mods, old consoles, etc., but I honestly really dislike having to rely on downloads from random websites or setting up emulators.

I just really wish I could own the games properly on Steam, have my playtime and progress connected to my Steam account, and be able to install and replay them whenever I want without having to deal with anything else.

Again, I know this is probably wishful thinking and the chances might be extremely low, especially considering SH1 never had an official PC version and there are likely other complications with the old games. But with Konami bringing back franchises and releasing collections like Metal Gear and Castlevania, is there even a tiny possibility that we could eventually see something like a Silent Hill Master Collection?

Or is this basically impossible at this point?

General Discussion What Silent Hill 4 did better than SH2 / SH3 ?

Post image
141 Upvotes

Silent Hill 4 was definitely an innovative experiment at the time of release. The devs tried a lot of new things with this one, but what did it do well in comparison to Silent Hill 2 or Silent Hill 3?

For example, the backtracking was horrible, but the feeling of lonelines/isolation in "The Room" felt great!

The vein things taking over the mirror and then making its way into the room, it covering Heather, her reflection completely stopping all movement and especially the fact the door locks itself if you try leaving too early, it's so good

Music Got any known 80s songs you associate with the series or any characters?

I was listening to Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill and the "if I only could I'd make a deal with God and I'd get Him to swap our places" part got me thinking about Claudia. Then checked the rest of the lyrics and kept getting reminded of her a lil.

I've thought of James and Mary to Berlin's Take My Breath Away too but that was more of a morbid joke.

Silent Hill 3 (2003) My fear and agony with Silent Hill 3

Post image
17 Upvotes

Hey everyone, good afternoon—how’s it going?

I’m new here. I wanted to talk about my experience with SH3; man, what an agonizing game. I felt such pressure, fear, and paranoia—so much so that while playing, I kept glancing behind me, afraid something or someone might be there. If it turned out to be a Pendulum, I’d get pissed off and proceed to kill and incinerate it.

But it’s a really great game. While SH2 didn't scare me—mostly because I was already so familiar with it—SH3 filled me with dread, fear, agony, and paranoia. I felt completely immersed in that universe. It was also great that the game had subtitles; being Brazilian, I was able to understand everything perfectly.

If there’s ever an SH3 remake, I hope they show parts of the story where Harry is looking after Heather and training her, their escape from the cult, and then the opening scene with Heather at the diner.

Silent Hill 3 (2003) Your favorite scene in silent hill 3

I'm new to the Silent Hill universe and I just finished Silent Hill 3. To me, I think it's the scariest game so far. While SH2 felt more like a thriller, this one was more horror. Those random voices out of nowhere scared me so much,I had to stop the game a few times, but to be honest, I think I really enjoyed this type of horror—the blood, the fire, and the whole dark atmosphere.

What was your favorite part of the game?
