I keep hearing that lessons are only worth it if you're a total beginner. Anyone here past that stage still book one anyways, just for cleaning up bad habits rather than learning something new? Or is it a hard pass once you're a few years in?

I’m 30 this year. I’ve only been snowboarding a few times. Last time I tore my shoulder so still a beginner.

I work a fake soul sucking desk job. I want to travel and work seasonal jobs. Considering ski resorts. On the outside it seems chill. Low stress. Not the best pay but if I want 30 dollars an hour I have to go be a mechanic somewhere since that’s my background. and I’d rather not.

I currently live in my car. And I’m curious if that’s doable through an entire winter while also working out in the cold. I don’t want to pay 700-800 for housing I’m never at since I’m at work paying for that housing I’m not at. Where’s the logic. If anyone has done that let me know. Could you actually save some money vanlife living? I don’t drink. I don’t “party” I’d spend most my money on healthy food since ski resorts are not known for nutrition.

On top of that I have unique digestive issues for the last 2 years undiagnosed by our wonderful healthcare system in the states. I unfortunately need the restroom often and for long periods of time. In a fake desk job that’s no issue. But I worry I’d be let go or have to quit if I need to just leave a lift for an hour to handle things on a regular basis.

I’m in Utah so I have the two cottonwoods. And park city. I’m also considering targhee and Jackson hole resort.

I'd love any anecdotes, suggested skills, ideas relating to skiing with a more creative, flowy style, especially from any older skiers. I'm 43, been skiing my whole life, and I've generally been a pretty traditional, directional skier. I like skiing everything - groomers, glades, bumps, powder (not that I get much in central NY). I got a pair of Black Crows Mirus Cor last season and it was a revelation - the amount that they have encouraged me to shake up my style, explore all the nuances of the trails and experiment has been a ton of fun. I'm learning to ski switch, dabbling in the park and eager to learn slashes and butters. I'm really inspired by seeing skiers who can combine solid fundamentals - e.g. great carving - and seamlessly integrate small tricks and surfier moves.

I harbor no delusions that I'll ski at this level, but the BC ad for Mirus Cor is exactly the type of style I'd love to emulate (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxB0TZNygOI). Anyway, I'm just starting to get jazzed about ski season and curious if anyone else has followed a journey of trying to broaden their ski horizons and how it went for you!

Pretty much what the title is - has anyone skied the Kastle Transcend 104 or know of someone who has? How did you/them find it? What did you like and what did you not like? What ski/s would you compare it to?

I'm on the market for a mid 100mm ski and this is one of the options I'm most interested in!

First year ski instructor. I’m in my mid twenties, switching careers.

Should I live in truckee and work for palisades/alpine? They offer healthcare for seasonal employees for $132 a month.

Or should I work at JHMR and live in victor/driggs? No healthcare but they pay more per hour. Idaho marketplace insurance seems like it would be similarly affordable.

Either way I want to move to Bay Area after.

I would mostly be touring/splitboarding on days off

Hey everyone I’m currently in Canada with a one year working visa. I would love to work somewhere in a ski resort, especially as an instructor. After some research and failed applications I think a paid internship course with an agency might be the only and by far safest option.
Has anyone some experience on that and know if it’s worth it ?
I’m definitely not willing to pay full price but already received some pretty big discounts as they want to fill spots.

Looking at purchasing my first pair of skis. I am 160cm and 53kg. Would consider myself at a level of an advanced beginner/low intermediate wanting to practise parallel turns. I enjoy cruising on mountains rather than skiing at top speed.

I am considering Atomic Cloud C9 or Head Absolute Joy or if you have other recommendations!

Length wise would 150cm be too hard to manage?

So I’m from Cincinnati and the only skiing that I’ve ever done is that perfect North slopes in Indiana.

This winter I’m wanting to go to West Virginia to go to an actual mountain…. I’m looking for the best resort in West Virginia (or anywhere within like 6-7 hours) with long decent runs not necessarily vertical drops/jumps/diamonds. I like to just cruise down a hill and enjoy it. I’m just a decent skier. I’m nothing special and certainly don’t wanna get hurt!

that in mind, what ski resort would you suggest?

I'm 5 ft 4 in, 145 lb, going into my 29th ski season with 7 years of ski racing experience. I am looking for a one-ski quiver that I'll love for all-mountain skiing that I can still charge hard with but also enjoy in the Tahoe Basin conditions.

I feel like I have narrowed it down to these two:

Blizzard Rustler 9 in 162cm for $400 (ski only)

Head Kore 100 TI in 163cm for $479 (ski only)

What should I buy? Anything else I should consider?

Need honest opinions. I'm taking my family on a ski holiday in February and I'm tempted to use my 18 year old son's hockey shorts for safety. Would I look like a complete idiot in these?

Last year I broke my coccyx after a fall on the second day of the holiday and spent the entire time on a cocktail of whisky, co-codamol and general moaning about how much pain I was in on every run.

I’ve hit my hips and elbows quite a few times while skiing park, so I started looking at protection.

There are obviously products out there, but most seem to come from MTB, motocross or snowboard brands. I couldn’t find one obvious brand that freeskiers seem to use for this.

Is that because there isn’t much demand, or because the available products are too bulky or uncomfortable?

Would you ever buy protection for areas like your hips or elbows? Why is there no brand doing this yet?

My hubs is considering a ski trip to Park City this year, but we have heard conflicting reports about the weird drinking laws and some have said the apres ski situation is non existant. Is that true? do the bars not open until night? I know there are some laws around not being able to get a drinki unless you order food so does that mean if you're waiting for a table there is no sallying up to the bar for a drink while you wait?

Hi I’m 22 and looking to move abroad for a season to be ski lift operator I’m a carpenter in my regular occupation in wales I want to gain more experience than I currently have at snowboarding I’ve been on the mountain a few times now but want to ride more consistently on the slopes to improve where I can later move on to instructing would people mind sharing there experiences working as a lift operator or an instructor and the reality of it all like taking a significant drop in pay but being able to do what you love everyday?
