I’m studying for my ged and I have a hard time really understanding anything and it’s irritating me because I have adhd and I get bored easily was wondering if anybody can get me some pointers?

im a pol sci major and i obviously have lots of theory, but this sem they've just become unbearable, ive also done well without having to study days before the exam, so i do study last minute and it just clicks in my brain. but this time, I don't think that strategy is going to work, I have no idea how to study otherwise. my exams are in like 2 months, and I just want to do well. but how...?

completed 2 weeks of consistently putting 8-9 hours of studying which includes active recalling , watching lectures and writing and solving questions

I work on Study Arena. Used to paste the same question into a few AIs and eyeball which explanation I actually understood. Messy. Now: ask once, get 3 answers with the names hidden, pick the one that helped, then see who wrote what. Free for that.

Hello, I made a city building themed app to help me focus whilst I study. It helps me stay away from distractions and incentivise me to keep to my studying habit. Traditional focus apps with a simple timer didn’t keep me invested enough to make me want to continue using them.

The app is called Scapedia and it's available for both Android and iOS. It features a fully customisable city map that you can grow entirely from focus sessions.

Two weeks before finals, I was buried in flashcards in the library when a client texted me about a new video edit. I opened the reference clip and froze, it used a technique I had genuinely watched a tutorial on months earlier. I remembered watching it but I could not remember a single step of how to actually do it.

That was the moment it clicked. I was feeling productive while watching but I didn't retain anything. I told myself I was learning. I wasn't, I was just watching. This tracks with the research (Roediger & Karpicke on the testing effect): passive rewatching creates an illusion of competence, only active retrieval actually builds retention.

So after finals I built Studiamo, an Open Source tool that turns a YouTube video, PDF, or set of lecture notes into active recall quizzes and schedules spaced repetition reviews before the memory decays. Paste a link in, get tested on it instead of summarized at it. It's AGPL-3.0 & self-hostable via Docker (BYOK). And there is a small monthly fee on the hosted version to cover AI and server costs.

Since this sub actually cares about how you study, not just which tool does it, I'd rather hear the honest answers than the upvotes:

1. Does the generated quiz feel like it tests real understanding, or does it feel shallow and gameable?
2. Compared to how you currently retain stuff from videos or lectures, Anki, notes, nothing, does this fill an actual gap?
3. What would make you keep using this after the novelty wears off?

So How You Guys Takes Notes, Extract Exams Oriented Information Or Facts From ONLINE STUDY MATERIALS (Lectures,, YouTube Videos,,PDF.....etc)........

Im currently taking anatomy and using Noji for spaced repetition because it's much simpler and more user-friendly for me than Anki.

I'm trying to find an app, AI tool, or workflow where I can upload my lecture PowerPoint slides directly, and have it automatically detect and cover up the labels on anatomy diagrams (bulk image occlusion) for flashcards, rather than having to manually screen-grab and mask every slide one by one. Bonus points if it can also pull relevant reference images when needed.

Does anything like this exist that connects directly with slide decks / PDFs without a super complicated setup?
How are you all converting anatomy lecture decks into occlusion cards quickly? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I originally thought the biggest problem for students was memorization. I was building a concept around helping students review material during small periods of free time.

But one person told me they can memorize things very quickly, but what takes the most time was homework and assignments. Another student said that they have many classes and extracurricular activities that finding enough time to catch up on assignments is a constant problem.

That made me wonder:

What if the problem isn't necessarily a lack of time, but the lack of usable, uninterrupted blocks of time?

I am interested in hearing from medical, law, engineering, and other high-workload students.

How do you deal with this problem? What do you do when you have more academic work than you have uninterrupted time to complete it?

whenever i try to study, i always get so distracted and my mind goes like “i wish i can do something fun other than studying” and it starts to wander off somewhere and it doesnt absorb information, its like my brain doesnt want to work with me

i used to really enjoy studying and especially memorizing but now i have a rlly hard time memorizing even the most simple things like what i was about to say or what i was supposed to do and its negatively affecting my academics.

i wanna ask for advice as to how you worked out on that problem or if youve also experienced a similar situation to mine. pls help me out i rlly dont wanna fail and retake a year😭
