Rant We're not taken seriously about our mental health as a result of self diagnosers.

Upvotes

I tried to word the title as respectfully as I could, but I wanted to get to my point. Because we're going through so many changes during puberty, ESPECIALLY hormonally, we try to find solace in being in a community or label. Social media has warped labels and disorders SO MUCH. People who self diagnose themselves do so much more harm than they realise and it's so frustrating. Having some intense anxiety, maybe even experiencing a panic attack or two, does NOT immediately mean you have anxiety or any of the sort. To be completely frank, I'm not saying that having a panic attack isn't something you should pay attention to, but jumping to labels is NEVER A GOOD OPTION. Same with people who claim to have ADHD or be on the autistic spectrum. ADHD has been reduced to "having a lot of energy" and "being easily distracted", while people actually struggle every day. When every teenager claims to fit into a serious label, people will stop taking the people who are actually affected by such conditions and disorders seriously. Sorry for the sudden rant :/

Serious September is suicide prevention month

Upvotes

September is suicide prevention month a month dedicated to honour those who suffer from suicidal ideation and for those who have committed. 10% of teens have attempted suicide atleast once in their life. I am part of that 10%. Reaching out does not make u weak, reaching out does not make u any less of a man/woman. Check up on people around u, u never know the silent battles people are fighting. If u are struggling with suicidal thoughts please reach out to someone, u are loved, u are important.❤️

Other Flash fiction horror piece I wrote for fun in like 10 minutes lol it's under 500 words

I sit at the park relaxed watching the children play and the parents chats. The couples that go on walks around the area and the smell of earth. When it turns 10 PM however there are still a few children remaining however not for long. Out of the forest something comes walking out with sharp 3 ft long teeth and a bite strong enough to crush a jeep wrangler. The creature is 12 ft tall, bipedal with black hair covering his body. Claws protrude from his feet and he has sharp claws. Blood still drips down his hideous deer-like head with black eyes and red slits from his last meal. Its expression is almost in a permanent sadistic smile. The creature steps on the dirt, knocks down the trees and drags the kids on the benches and playground deep into the woods. I just sat and watched at the beautiful park bathed in gorgeous moonlight as the children scream but no one came. No one noticed. In fact to be quite honest no one cared. The children kept begging, screaming, crying as their cries echo through the forest and then silence… never heard from again.

Discussion I like you, here’s a spiced popcorn recipe.

Ingredients:
Popcorn kernels
Paprika
Salt
Black pepper
Garlic powder
Onion powder
Olive oil
Butter

Step 1: get a large wok and place your kernels in there. Coat it with olive oil and your spices, until the oil itself seems a little bit red like paprika.

Step 2: pop them on medium low under hood lighting.

Step 3: once all popped, add even more paprika and black pepper, and the butter. Stir on low until the butter is melted, and coats everything equally.

Step 5: serve hot.

You can add any more spices you want, but paprika+black pepper+salt are non negotiable. Unless you’re allergic to paprika idk

Rant i feel like my dad is constantly angry with me, and i don’t understand why

Upvotes

i just want to know if anyone within my age range relates to this, i grew up with this being regular behavior from almost every adult in my family over the age of 45

my father however is the prime example of this behavior.
he has always been one of those people who stands on his “points” and rarely admits he is wrong when talking/referring to other people. ESPECIALLY teenagers, my friends, and occasionally even my own boyfriend which he claims to love like his own son.
i have always strongly believed this was because of his trauma working in a prison as an officer, i feel like that’s an important point to make but im not using it as an excuse for how he treats me at times.

he’s been taking small things out on me for about 3 years now (ever since i was 13) and it’s often small things like housework, manners and respect, general responsibilities, etc. all things that can easily be fixed by talking to me and showing me how to do it. instead of taking action when it initially happens, he bites his tongue and stays quiet for an entire day and sometimes even a few days until he cannot take it anymore and explodes into a lecture about how “you need to pay more attention and listen better, to stop/start doing this and that, i did that when i was younger but once i realized i was fucking up i changed”.
i can’t even count the amount of times he has told me i won’t be able to live on my own in a year and a half or later because of the smallest things that i miss cues on, because i either haven’t learned how to do it yet or i have a different way of doing it that irritates him. i always try, but he’s incredibly hard to please unless i do things in a specific way.
this is a once or twice a month kind of occurrence, i’m left with no room to talk, explain or communicate every single time even though he always preaches that communication is key. it’s always nobody’s fault but mine and i seriously don’t understand why.
i was never given chores growing up and i was never taught or educated on how to cook, clean, put out a fire, work on a car and so much else that you could probably think of instantly.
i feel like i’m a failure because i was never taught basic things that everyone else knows by either of my parents.
now that my dad is a single father, he almost acts like continuing to raise me and educate me is the end of the world.

i would never raise my voice at him or any adult for that matter, so why does he do it to me?
