The David Pakman Show Gaza / Israel MEGATHREAD
Effective today, all posts and comments related to the Israel/Palestine conflict will be directed to this ongoing megathread. This applies to both article links and discussion submissions. Any new submissions on the subject will be removed and redirected to this megathread. This includes the nearly daily submissions asking "Why hasn't David talked about X" in relation to the conflict.
This conflict has been ongoing for nearly two years, and while we’ve allowed open discussion until now, the daily cycle of posts has come to dominate the space. Most users aren’t here for that constant back and forth, and over time it has continually crowded out other topics and made the community more hostile and unwelcoming than we would like.
After much consideration and discussion of community feedback, we’ve decided that consolidating all content into a megathread is the best balance. This is not an attempt to censor discussion. The goal is to make the topic easier to follow for those interested, while keeping the rest of the community accessible to those who are not. This effort will also make moderation more manageable and ensures a fairer space for all voices.
Please note that all subreddit rules still fully apply in this megathread. Please ensure that you are adhering to community rules while participating, specifically rule #1 (Please be civil and constructive at all times.) will be judiciously enforced. Please continue to use the report feature to bring rule violations to the attention of the mod team.
This thread will be stickied at the top of the subreddit for easy access. Comment sort order will be set to NEW so the latest contributions/news will always be on top.
Thanks for helping us keep the community constructive and manageable for everyone.

Discussion Explain this to me like I’m five - how is this not socialism?
I got this ai generated definition of socialism:
“Socialism is an economic and political system where the community or the government owns and controls the major means of production and distribution, rather than private individuals.”

TDPS Feedback & Discussion An interview / segment request
David, please do a segment (or a hundred) on any concrete pragmatic plans for protests or peaceful responses being planned should Trump steal the midterms.
No Kings, Indivisible, etc.
Interview the coordinators. Give people some hope that there is some response planned if their ballots are tossed, if ICE shows up at the voting, if a phony state of emergency is declared, or if the administration cries fraud and refuses to swear anyone in or transfer power.
We need this information out there, now. The signs are all there that this administration isn't going to cede power, and people are rightfully scared.
Keep telling them to vote. But also show them there are things they can do if the worst comes to pass.

Tweets & Social Media Rashida Tlabi Defends Hasan Piker With Whataboutism
r/thedavidpakmanshow • u/beeemkcl • 14h ago
Discussion Whatever issues or problems some have with DSA, 'the Left', progressives, etc., almost no leftists, progressives, 'DSA Democrats', etc. are saying that maybe you shouldn't vote for the centrist Democratic primary winner in the general election.
What's in this Post comment is what I remember, my opinions, etc.
Emma Vigeland of The Majority Report and Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk and Krystal Kyle and Friends were famously very pro-Harris for POTUS 2024. Hasan Piker didn't endorse VPOTUS Kamala Harris, but he told his audience to vote for her.
VPOTUS Kamala Harris lost because she insulted leftists, progressives, pro-Palestine people, etc. too much.
After the 2020 DNC, the Biden campaign embraced AOC. Promised a 'mini Green New Deal' and massive student loan debt forgiveness/cancellation. Biden/Harris 2020 won because of relatively massive support from youth voters.
After the 2024 DNC, the Harris campaign embraced Liz Cheney and Mark Cuban. Harris/Walz lost. Depending on how it's counted, VPOTUS Kamala Harris lost around 6MM-19MM Biden/Harris 2020 voters and potential Biden/Harris 2020 voters (includes the new 18-21 year olds in 2024).
_______
It literally shows how unpopular centrist Democrats are that new more 'palatable' terms are trying to be used for them. The new one being 'Mainstream Democrats'.
https://yougov.com/en-us/ratings/politicians
Leftist and progressive Democrats are more popular than centrist Democrats.
New CNN polling has NYC Zohran Mamdani as the Democrat with the highest favorables and AOC with the second-highest favorables. And AOC's favorables being lower is almost certainly because she's involved herself in contested primaries outside of NYC and that includes in US Senate races.
_______
Finally: The DSA and leftists and progressives aren't saying that people shouldn't vote for Mary Peltola, Roy Cooper, US Senator Jon Ossoff, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, etc.
Cori Bush didn't endorse US Rep. Wesley Bell and that's very bad on her. But he's easily going to win the general election.
The Democratic loser in the US Rep. Marie G. Perez primary didn't endorse her and that's the most egregious example of a leftist or progressive not endorsing the less-progressive primary winner. And the only one.
There's been major Democrats not supporting Dr. Abdul El-Sayed. US Senator Chuck Schumer suggested that the Democrats don't need that Michigan US Senate seat for the Democrats to win the US Senate. Who Is Ahead in the U.S. Senate Race in Michigan? Latest 2026 Polls - The New York Times And Dr. El-Sayed is leading that race.
Florida Rep. Angie Nixon was arguably polling better in the general election than Alex Vindman was: Who Is Ahead in the U.S. Senate Race in Florida? Latest 2026 Polls - The New York Times, yet the Mainstream Media is extremely harsh and dismissive and insulting to her.
_______
And most of the this anti-Hasan Piker stuff largely reminds me of early 2021 when US House Democrats instead of focusing on passing HR 1 (voting rights legislation, etc. etc.), decided to focus on censuring US Rep. Ilhan Omar.
POTUS Donald Trump is more unpopular than ever. Republicans are increasingly unpopular. Instead of 'moderate' and centrist Democrats focusing on that and trying to get as many Democratic wins as possible, it's been literally months of focusing on Hasan Piker.
The Democrats in the past never focused on Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, etc. etc. Who at the time had audiences of around 20MM (Hannity) 30MM-35MM (Limbaugh). Laura Ingraham is arguably responsible for POTUS George W. Bush's immigration reform efforts failing.
Hasan Piker helps Darializa Avila Chevalier win a primary and helps Dr. Abdul El-Sayed win a primary and suddenly he's somehow public enemy number 1 for centrist Democrats. But Darializa is going to win the general election and Dr. El-Sayed is likely to win the general election.
DSA is getting increasingly popular. Of presently seated Democrats, 3/4 of the most popular are democratic socialists: https://yougov.com/en-us/ratings/politicians
And even after the bad interviews with DSA co-chairs and other representatives of the National DSA, DSA got even more popular. For those who are at-all aware of DSA, that only really happened after the NYC US House primaries wins in June.
_______
Centrist Democrats are trying to a another 'anti-socialism' resolution or whatever this one now including 'anti-DSA'.
A centrist US Rep. suggested that DSA members in the US Congress shouldn't get security clearances.
And this all being done before the November general elections.
