A day trip to Blaine and a morning walk in nature. This camera is becoming my new best friend!

So I did some testing. After reading in a spec sheet that it has a 16mp sony cmos sensor(which I softly doubt, but it may still be SOME kind of 16mp sensor) and after my observations over my first day(and 300 pics) of shooting at multiple resolutions and filters I have the following soft conclusions.

• The raw quality seems to be 8mp. Chosing a higher resolution doesn't really increase detail at all. At 5mp and 3 mp, there is obvious downscaling and loss of quality.
• There is a baseline sharpening and film grain across all filters, including normal, to some extent.
• This post processing and filter application seems to happen post upscale at the upscaled resolution.

This means that(and I may need to do more pixel peeping) that 8mp to 64mp does not affect the raw underlying image. But the sharpening, film grain, and filter are all much higher quality at higher mp settings. Although there are diminishing returns after 48mp or so.

I will gather some more images in sun later, but the easiest way to show are a couple close crops at 5 or 8mp and then at 64, focusing on the filter processing or film grain.

Pictured are close crops of the same scene and filter in lowish light at 3mp, 5mp, 24mp and 64. Then of another scene in kitchen lighting and normal filter at 3, 8 and 64 to show the grain.

The image data also shows all pics are captured at around 1/1000s for the coat hanger pics. So shutter time isn't affected by mp. Only time to process and save the image.

Subjectively I find the edges and vibe of the photos "creamier" softer, and more filmish the higher you go. And I like knowing I'm giving the engine more to work with ie rendering the final filter, which is one of the most important parts of the character of these toy cameras.

At 64mp, it does take a second or so to save an image. At 3, images are taken as fast as I can press the shutter button.

This is more high effort pixel peeping than I ever thought I'd do for a $30 toy camera lol. I hope reddit doesn't screw up the images too bad.

Also the font on the date text changes at 64mp for some reason.

Disclaimer, none of this is scientific, but I'm keeping mine at 48 or 64 going forward. It's not just upscale bloat.

Edit: reddit did soften the images. The 3 mp and 5mp images had hard square artifacting out of the camera.

Filters were either the insta with cloudy wb, or retro with tungsten wb. I think the kitchen one was Lomo with tungsten.

from my research(scrolling this subreddit endlessly for days), I felt this guy had the best combo of character and quality. I also felt it had the best set of filters and love how they interact with manual wb. The menu system is super fast and responsive. camera takes 7 seconds to start up from off, clicking the shutter button. Nearly instant if it's just in screensaver mode. This one also had the largest battery from what I've seen, at 500mah(or mwh idr), vs the 300s and 200s of other keychains.

I am beyond happy for $33.

Took some photos of sights around Kuala Lumpur thru my HJD. All of these have no filter and raw. I must say, I am loving this mini camera.

Brand new Charmera Millennium. Photos take and save completely normally, but whenever I try video I get “Low Storage! Min. 1GB.” I’m using a Lexar 128GB microSDXC, U1/V10/A1, with basically the entire 125GB available. I formatted it on my phone via via via apps and stuff and i think it worked - except the video still doesnt - photos were always ok.

So far I’ve:

- backed everything up / emptied the card

- formatted the card

- formatted it again inside the Charmera

- factory reset the Charmera

- confirmed the card is detected and photos still save normally

Same video error every time.

Has anyone had this exact issue and actually fixed it?

especially interested to know if switching from a 128GB SDXC card to a 32GB microSDHC/FAT32 card solved it, or if this ended up being a faulty camera.

I love this little camera. I just took some quick shots on my way home. I love the simplicity of it. Framing seems to be easiest about 1-2 inches away from my face. Looking forward to carrying this around as a point and shoot.

This was a fun combination, and my first time using one of the filter cards alongside the cameras preset color profile settings. I accidentally switched to the b&w setting at one point, so I guess I’m going to do “soft day” + b&w next week! 😂

My partner's sister has a Pixpro underwater camera and we were admittedly a little envious. However, she actually lives near the coast and can justify having one more and we live in a city in a cold country and cannot. For our holiday, I brought this waterproof phone pouch thinking of using it with my phone but we like doing our beach days without tech and without valuables, and that's when I had the idea to pop my G6 thumb into the pouch instead. I almost didn't bring the camera at all because I don't really like the images it makes, but it is so small that I just clipped it on my backpack anyway. Worked out pretty well and I'm glad I did it. Fun shots for memories without worrying about a phone or more expensive camera. If I lost this one, I'd be annoyed but just shrug it off - it was only £12 or something. It does float in the pouch and has a lanyard so it would take some effort to lose it but still. My favourite shots are the ones of us having fun in the sea which I'd rather not upload, but I found a few snapshots that I'm happy to share. Didn't manage any good fish pics tho. I'm too slow.

Still, now I'm eyeing up a Campsnap and an underwater case.

Yes I only used a single little double sided tape to stick the macro lens in it.

Went to NYC last week and took my Charmera along!

I reordered one last week for shipping (to Australia) on or before 28th August. It hasn't been shipped and obviously I can't contact anyone with it being a weekend. The products are all sold out now so people are buying them.

I've only seen a couple of people mention them online and they seem to say they arrive quickly bit just looking if anyone has experience with the brand? Seemed to offer all round better options than the campsnap which is why I went for it.

I can't find one for less than 40$ on Aliexpress, Temu, Amazon. I thought they went for like 20$ or so?

I am located in Europe.
