So I’m planning to travel to China in June 2027 and I have a quite ambitious itinerary:

Beijing (6 nights)
Datong (2 nights)
Pingyao (1 night)
Xi’an (3 nights)
Chongqing + Dazu Rock Carvings (3 nights)
Chengdu + Wulong Karst (3 nights)

I’m a bit nervous about the heat in Chongqing above all, I’m willing to stick it out for the adventure but I removed one night from the originally planned 4 nights. I must do some extra research but from what I’ve read three nights in each of those cities is enough, however I would like the opinion of people who have already been there!

After Chengdu I’m planning on taking a plane to Yuzhu in Qinghai and from there moving via bus along a few cities/towns until reaching Xining.

So I have a 5 week training in china I’ll be traveling on a M visa. I’d like to bring a 30 day supply of Vyvanse. Is it truly too much of an issue to bring? I can provide the doctor letter, the prescription, and original packaging. But I’ve heard a 30 day supply is too much I’ve heard that a 30 day supply is ok, I’ve heard I can get deported. I’ve heard it could just be confiscated. I will declare it. And throw it in my checked bag. I don’t have a diagnosis for ADHD my dr is just cool and just prescribes me. I know this has been a topic here but I don’t think my specific situation has been answered. Also I’ll be flying into either Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX) or Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN).

Edit: I do have a diagnosis I just didn’t know how diagnosing works until a redditor explained in the comments.

I am thinking of going to Beijing+Greatwall, xian, chengdu and chongqing for about 10 days. Transport by train/HSR. Is week 12-October (monday) still crowded ? Do a lot of locals take an extended holiday after the golden week?

So I read a lot of the posts here regarding luggage sizes in high speed trains in China. I will be taking two trains - from Chongqing to Zhangjiajie and then to Chengdu. I have a suitcase that has combined dimensions of about 156 cm. Would that be ok to bring onboard? I read some conflicting information.

Hey everyone I am planning a trip with my parents who are both in their early 70s. We really wanna see hyper modern skylines and futuristic city architecture so Shenzhen, Chongqing and Shanghai look incredible to us.

Japan was our initial backup but the consensus on Japan seems to be relentless daily walking like 15k to 20k steps with very few places to sit down. My dad is relatively active but my mom gets worn out after about 1500 to 2000 steps which is under a mile and needs regular breaks.

We don't mind sorting out the visa or entering via Hong Kong to reach Shenzhen if it means the daily experience is much easier on her. We already know the basics of setting up Alipay, WeChat and translation apps so I am purely wondering about the physical aspect.

If we rely almost entirely on DiDi to get around Shenzhen or Chongqing, does that actually eliminate most of the walking or are tourist areas surrounded by massive pedestrian only zones and stairs? Also is Chongqing's vertical layout too brutal for someone with low endurance or are direct street drop offs enough to make it doable? Would sticking to flat modern cities like Shenzhen and Shanghai be far safer? Lastly are modern Chinese commercial areas malls and open plazas generally decent about having benches or spots to sit down compared to Tokyo?

Large industries really interest me and I was wondering if there are any ways to get tours of factories, ports or some other large industrial facilities in Beijing or Shanghai?

I applied for a Chinese business visa twice, and both applications were rejected. I’ve even traveled to China before. Surprisingly, my wife got her visa on her first try, even though she’d never been to China before. This will be her first trip there.

I have a flight on September 20, and the tickets are non-refundable.

During my last trip to China in April for the Canton Fair, I received a three-month visa that allowed me to stay for 15 days. However, because of a misunderstanding with my travel agent, I may have stayed two or three days longer than permitted, depending on whether the day of entry is counted as the first day.

I read that the first day of your stay may be counted as the day you enter the country, but I’ve also seen it described as “day zero.” In my case, I was technically at the airport on the 15th day, and my flight was scheduled to depart three hours after I arrived at the airport.

Therefore, if the calculation starts from the time I entered China, I may have overstayed by only a few hours. However, the immigration officer did not mention anything when I left, and I was able to return home without any problems.

Could this possible overstay be the reason my Chinese visa applications were rejected twice?

It’s been 3 months since I visited Tibet, and I think the most special part of the land is its people. Tibetans are some of the kindest people I’ve met. ❤️ I feel very lucky to have walked with pilgrims on such a meaningful journey.

Got back a while ago from the big loop, Beijing down to Shanghai over 20 days with friends. Still sorting photos, here's some.

Honestly the thing I keep telling people is the trains. We flew once, Guilin to Shanghai at the very end, everything else was high speed rail. Even Chongqing to Zhangjiajie, which is 2h direct now. Older posts still say you have to fly that leg, you don't.

Chengdu was the surprise. We gave it 4 days thinking that was too many and it wasn't, we mostly sat in teahouses and ate. Zhangjiajie looks fake in the best way. The 8h train day down to Yangshuo after it, less fun.

Can share the day by day if anyone's planning something similar. :)

I've been reading and I feel like I know the answer but I am a worrier. It looks like we will be going to China mid October (and don't live anywhere close to a consulate - in Colorado ours is LA) the late notice is because it is for Track Cycling World Championships which as of today my husband qualified for (was up in the air until literally today if he would I am usually much more of a planner!).

We would be in Shanghai Chongming Island - and I would probably make my trip about 7 days so within the visa exemption rules. Question is it as "easy" as the itinerary is say coming from the US - Hong Kong - Shanghai - US? I just add another country either on my way in or out of Shanghai (China)?

Are there any ways to get denied the 240 hour visa free transit (outside of itinerary plans not being valid for use?) it's obviously a long way to go for something to happen!
