First time in China. Booked a train from Shanghai to Beijing om Trip.com and I realized they never sent a qr code, just an email with a ticket pickup number. So do I just need my passpot only? What can I expect at the train station. Any specific lines to follow? Any advice welcome.

Hello! I am trying to book my tickets for Zhangjiajie and there are so many options that I do not even know what to pick from.

On 15 sept we want to go to the Tianmen Mountain (we want the cableway, the escalators up to the Gate). We will be in Zhangjiajie on this day. I see there are multiple Lines on trip.com, with multiple options and combos and I really do not know what to pick. I want to get there and not be surprised that I can not do a specific thing because we booked the wrong tickets. I do not see anywhere the option with the glass walkway, for example.

On 16 sept we want to go to the National Forest Park, "Avatar mountains", Bailong Elevator, Tianzi Mountain. We will be in Wulingyuan on 16 and 17 sept. Also, on 17 sept, we want to visit the Canyon and the Glass Bridge.

If anyone can help me with what tickets to buy, what options and what would be the advantages/disadvantages, I would be more than grateful. I have already spent like 1.5 hours on this and can't get the end of it. If I look in 10 places I see 10 different thigs - either the cableway is closed, or the glass walkway is not opened, or that the ticket will include only a return cableway, or that the cableway is not the same that is mentioned everywhere else...

Hi, I want to rental a car and do a road trip in China with an EV and looking for someone to share their experience.

I have found many guides online on how to get a provisional drivers licence and saw people posting rental car videos but couldn’t find too much details about the rental process itself. Here are my questions:

1. WHERE do I find rental cars? Surprisingly I can see cars on my Hertz app, but they only have regular ICE cars. I have never seen a Hertz shop in China when I visited, do they actually operate there??
2. What’s the process? Do you book a car online, go to the counter, give them your divers license and passport like in NA?
3. How does the insurance work?
4. If I do manage to get a car, I want to do a road trip in Yunnan. Any recommendation with the locations to visit for a nice drive?

I am planning a family trip for august 2027. First time ever in China, none of us speak mandarin. I suppose it is not the best time of the year to visit because of chinese holidays + weather.

Planning to enter China by train from Almaty Kazakhstan and leave by plane in Beijing. Here is the rough plan so far, I was wondering may be it is better to start east?

Days 1–3: Paris – Almaty ; Flight to Almaty from Paris or Frankfort ; tour of the city center, Panfilov Park, and the surrounding mountains (Medeu/Chimbulak).

Days 4–5: Journey to Ürümqi ; leave Almaty by to train toÜrümqi. Explore the Grand Bazaar and Uyghur culture.

Days 6–8: Silk Road (Turpan and Dunhuang) ; High-speed train from Ürümqi to Turpan (Turpan Depression, oasis), then continue by train to Dunhuang (Mogao Caves, sand dunes).

Days 9–11: Travel through the Gansu Corridor (Zhangye or Lanzhou) ; Stopover in Zhangye to see the colorful mountains (Danxia) or in Lanzhou.

Days 12–15: Xi’an, Arrival by train in Xi’an: visit the Terracotta Army, the city walls, and the Muslim quarter.

Days 16–19: High-speed train ride (approximately 4.5–5.5 hours from Xi’an) to Beijing + Grat Wall of China

Days 20-21: Back to France via plane

I might have to opportunity to have a few extra days or to travel in July, would it be much better than August? You have the right to say my plan is crazy or stupid.

I will come to Zhangjijaije from Chongqing on 15.9. around 10:30 and then go to wulingyuan where my hotel is. I want to see the Avatar Hallelujah mountains, is it possible to do it in one afternoon if I just want to see that? I will probably enter around 12:00-13:00 in the park, what is the timetable of shuttle buses in the park? Will i be able to go back on time? The next day I have a free morning to explore a bit more of the park but I have to catch the train from Zhangijaije around 15:45. Do you have suggestions on how to organise those 2 days?
And also when booking a ticket on trip.com it says eco bus (is that shuttle bus, is it included in the price of the ticket?) and also it requires to book a time slot for entering, why cant i just buy the ticket and enter whenever?

I’m flying from Ulaanbaatar (ULN) to Beijing Daxing (PKX), and then taking a separate domestic flight from Daxing to Shanghai with a 1 hour 40 minute layover. I will have a checked bag.

Since these are separate tickets, I will need to clear immigration, collect my checked bag, go to the domestic check-in counters to re-check it, and clear security again.

Is 100 minutes doable?

hi! need help for itinerary recommendations as a family of 4 (all adults) for a total of 9 days. will be going to yunnan late december until early january. will be arriving in KMG at 10AM, then flight back is at 4pm in the afternoon from KMG, so will need to be back by then.

I'm planning to start a business providing inbound medical services to foreigners who want to come to China for medical treatment, checkups, and tourism. Does this demand really exist? Would you be willing to travel thousands of kilometers for medical treatment?

We rode horses up to a lake in the Tangbula Scenic Area that barely has any English coverage online, we searched before the trip and found almost nothing written about it. Fairy Lake (仙女湖) sits at around 2,500m, no road in, you either hike or ride. We went with the horses, single file behind a guide, no helmets but it felt genuinely safe and well run. 200¥ each for the round trip, plus a separate 10¥ to actually get down to the water. Went a bit past wildflower season in late August so the grassland wasn't at its best, but the ride up alone was worth it.

It’s been 3 months since I visited Tibet, and I think the most special part of the land is its people. Tibetans are some of the kindest people I’ve met. ❤️ I feel very lucky to have walked with pilgrims on such a meaningful journey.

I (25M) will be visiting China for the first time in March of next year. My route will take me along the corridor between Hong Kong and Chongqing/Chengdu. On the way I have been considering stopping at Zhangjiajie, but the weather worries me. I have heard March can be hit-or-miss, and that the El Niño conditions might translate into heavy rain or total whiteout fog. I only have limited time in China and don’t want to burn too many days on a gamble, and if the weather is unlikely to cooperate I’d rather just save Zhangjiajie for the future.

Obviously don’t expect anyone to know anything about the El Niño stuff, but wondering if anyone has any experience with Zhangjiajie in March? How has the weather been in your experience? What was your visibility like? Are we talking clear skies, poetic whisky mist, or straight up wall of impenetrable clouds/fog?

(For context, plan A was to head from HK to Chongqing via Yangshuo, Zhangjiajie and maybe Furong, and then plan B would be to instead snake my way through Yunnan from HK to Chengdu, with a focus on the 2-day Tiger Leaping Gorge trek)

I'm in China for the next 10 days and was struck by how impressive the port in Hong Kong is.

Large industries really interest me and I was wondering if there are any ways to get tours of factories, ports or some other large industrial facilities in Beijing or Shanghai?

If anyone knows anyone, a fixer or a tour operator that could do something like that in shanghai or Beijing id love to see it.
