i yanked it out and it did not have a complicated root structure at all

but wondering if i need to be more careful

Multistemmed, about 10' high

My wife and I love these trees in our neighborhood and would like to plant one in the future but having trouble identifying the species. We live in Augusta, Ga.

I initially thought it was a peony, or something a squirrel dropped that sprouted. I did put some cut branches in the bottom of the bed before covering with soil. Is it possible that one of those put out roots and started growing again?

Newbie here. Brooklyn NY which makes me think it would be a London Plane, but the fruit appears to be single stemmed? Let me know your thoughts, thank you!
