Emailed my university department because I’m uncomfortable in a professor’s class, they just ignored me. What am I supposed to do now?
wondering if anyone else has dealt with something like this or knows what I should do next.
I’m currently in a CS class where I’ve watched the professor lash out at students and talk to people in ways that I felt were pretty inappropriate and disrespectful. None of it has been directed at me personally, but seeing it happen to other students has made me really uncomfortable being in the class.
I recently had a change in my work schedule that means I may need to leave class about 5–10 minutes early to make it to work on time. Normally I would just explain the situation to the professor, but based on some of the interactions I’ve seen with other students, I’m kinda anxious about even bringing it up.
So I emailed the department and explained what was going on.I asked if I could move to another section of the exact same class with a different professor.
They just never responded.
I know departments are busy, but this is pretty time-sensitive since the semester has already started, and the longer I wait, the harder it’s going to be to switch sections.
I’m also trying to deal with this before something actually happens between the professor and me. I don’t really think I should have to wait until I’m the student getting yelled at or treated disrespectfully before saying that I’m uncomfortable with the environment.
Has anyone at TXST dealt with something similar? Who should I go to next if the department just isn’t responding?
