Don’t name the movie. Just drop the line that makes it iconic

What is a word or phrase that tells you someone was raised in Appalachia?
 in  r/Appalachia  Apr 16 '25

My mammaw always says "when the sap goes down" when she's talkin about the colder weather months

"Flitter cakes" when she's makin fried corn bread

"Raunchy" when she thinks somebody's rude or mean or just has a nasty attitude

And my personal favorite "cussin like a well (pronounced WHALE) horse"

Am I Being Manipulated?
 in  r/Manipulation  Sep 02 '24

A 25 year old man who is dating a 19 year old and ALSO being this abusive and manipulative this early on is a MASSIVE red flag. There's a reason he isn't dating someone his age; he's testing you to see how much abuse you'll allow and tolerate. You're young and still have a lot of life ahead of you, take it from someone who was in the same boat at your age: it isn't worth it. If you allow this now, it'll continue to get worse. I'd suggest nipping this in the bud immediately, for your own peace of mind. Eventually, he'll isolate you from anyone that cares about you so that you have no one to turn to for help and advice.

It isn't agreeing to disagree, it's you not understanding boundaries and foreplay lmao Foreplay exists without sex in a LOT of relationships. It's a common thing, intimacy isn't just penetration. Edit to add: how is she leading him on? She has literally said that she didn't want to have sex every time they were intimate.

That still means nothing. Those boundaries were repeatedly stated over and over again, and repeated crossed. She can enjoy foreplay and not want sex. They aren't mutually exclusive.

She isn't, though? She has clearly stated her boundaries 3 times, and he has pushed it every single time.

Thank you for your kind words, and i plan to start putting back money for a place as soon as I can. His mom and I have talked a bit about everything and she's planning to move out on her own when she has the money as well. Right now it's just down to all of them helping to pay these bills. Once it's all set, I'm gonna leave, I just don't want to leave them struggling. His family has been too kind to me for that.

His family was living in their own place, but their landlord tried to kick them out in 15 days with no reason (they're suing). And I thought we were compatible at the start, he was communicating with me and we enjoyed a lot of the same hobbies; or at least I thought we did. I honestly feel like I've been mothering him these last few weeks. I want to leave, but I'm in a situation where it's basically impossible to do so.

When you're in Tennessee, visit Tellico Plains!! Arguably the best restaurants and views in the area

AITA for not wearing a wig to my cousin's wedding?
 in  r/AmItheAsshole  Apr 21 '23

Definitely NTA You tried to meet her in the middle, even though she was incredibly disrespectful and out of pocket towards you. I really hope your cousin sees the crazy sooner rather than later.

There’s Lake Superior and the Great Lakes, but what are some other underrated, yet pretty great, lakes in the US?
 in  r/AskAnAmerican  Nov 03 '21
