If a mistrial is declared the prosecution then either tries to go to trial a second time or chooses not to try again and the person walks free. Both cases happen often.
To say she will go to a hospital for life means she would be found not guilty for reason of insanity. That is not the same as a mistrial.
There's literally hundreds of people outside the court room. You can check Ap or Reuters or whatever source you consider reliable. There's actual support here in the real world.
