Let me tell you about the horror story that is Redpoint. Right off the bat, the door knob to my room decided it was time to retire, falling off its hinge the moment I touched it. And let’s not forget the charming dog poop stains on the floor and the mold in the bathroom that was so artfully painted over. Truly, a masterpiece of neglect.

The management here is a real gem, especially with their pricing strategies. They have a knack for sneaking hidden fees into your rent, hoping you won’t notice. If you’re not on your toes, you might just end up paying more than you bargained for. And when the fridge started sparking and shut off, they graciously informed us it was because we were opening it too much. Their advice? Open it only once a day. Because who needs a functioning fridge, right?

Phone calls are a treat too. They love to avoid them and respond with the same brilliant line to everything. I was even locked out of my room once because the previous tenant decided to change the door frame but did such a stellar job that the door didn’t fit properly and jammed. So, I left my door open until someone came to fix it. Their solution to everything? Just paint over it. Problem solved!

The AC is another highlight, conveniently going out at night. Many residents are enjoying this feature as well. And the dryer? It literally sets off the smoke alarm every time it’s used, as it’s practically about to catch on fire. They charge exorbitant cleaning fees, yet the place remains spotless. I even spotted a raccoon rummaging through trash bags on people’s porches, which, while not their fault, was the final straw for me.

I’m now working with student legal aid to break my lease. Everyone raved about Redpoint, and it seemed like a great place close to school and the S loop. Maybe I should have done more research, but I’m sharing this to warn you: these student apartments are as predatory as they come. Always advocate for yourself, or you might find yourself scammed out of everything while receiving absolutely nothing in return. You’ve been warned!

Is it just me, or are there way more people on campus this year than previously? I’ve been wondering this since classes started because everything just seems way more crowded. For instance, the buses around campus have almost always been completely packed, and dining hall lines have been insane. There was even a line out the door at Bruceteria earlier which I have never seen before. I realize that things are naturally going to be more crowded as classes start and taper off as people start attending leas class, but I don’t think I remember it ever being this bad.

Has anyone taken the group fitness classes at the rec? I was looking into the Pilates sculpt class, but I haven’t worked out in so long so I’m a bit intimidated. Would this class be beginner friendly or are there others you’d suggest? Thanks!!

Prof. Hines has me fucked up expeditiously- I can't do it. This work load will make me rip my hair out, it's something nearly every single day and to be quite frank? I'm not comfortable with having to record my voice, my face, my ID AND SURROUNDINGS every single time I do a test or exam. Also, I'm really not benefiting at all from these boring, slow-paced notetaking videos that basically implore you to have to teach the lessons to yourself. I don't know about you, but I paid too much goddamn money to be here to have to teach myself the rhetoric for class thank you

and then it's not even actual math. It's just bullshit about politics and about XYZ and the mf third it's straight bullshit on my screen. I have to pay $50 to join Pearson. every single exam stretches my patience to its limits and drives it to dust. My patience has dropped into the negatives- I am OWED patience for this shit class. Upperclassmen, please tell me how you made it through.

I’m in my final semester and graduating with zero internships, which is starting to stress me out. I’ve tried going through the Career Center, but I’m honestly getting pretty frustrated with it. The career fairs are so crowded that it feels impossible to actually talk to someone, and the resume reviews seem to come down to, “Use this Word template.” The same template is pushed for basically everyone, according to their major. If you already understand basic formatting, their standard Word doc template actually feels like a downgrade.

I’ve started looking outside of the Career Center and trying different things on my own. I switched to using Overleaf for my resume and have been testing job search tools like ApplyBolt and FastApply. I’m still figuring out what actually works, so I'm kinda curious what others have been trying differently.

What is Touhou?

Touhou is a multimedia franchise that began as a collection of PC-98 videogames created by the sole developer Jun'ya Ōta “Zun.” Zun would eventually shift from the various genres covered in the PC-98 era to Danmaku games on modern Windows. Danmaku is the japanese term that means “bullet curtain” or “barrage,” in the west, we call these games bullet hells. The genre is characterized by having your character dodge the enemies attacks while simultaneously damaging them and attempting to get the highest score possible. For those who have played arcade games before, imagine Galaga in reverse, playing as the aliens to defeat the enemy while dodging their attack patterns. Beginning with the 6th Touhou installment, every game afterwards would be focused on this bullet hell gameplay alongside other attributes to differentiate each game. The games typically consist of 6 stages, 1 unlockable hidden stage, and 2 or more characters to play as. A large part of the success of Touhou is its multifacetedness, combining danmaku gameplay, original soundtracks, and visual novel-esque elements to create a unique experience. Touhou 6, which began the modern era of Touhou, was immensely successful because of Zun’s ability to mesh multiple interesting gameplay aspects into one. Touhou, as of 2026, now spans over 20 mainline games, over a dozen spin-off games, and entire musical albums and official mangas detailing events in the world of touhou both new and old.

Why is Touhou so popular?

Touhou is not defined by one singular curtain term. It can be a videogame, manga, music, and so much more because of Zun’s creativity and interest in keeping Touhou accessible for all kinds of individuals. Touhou may be called confusing to get into due to the amount of content it has, but that amount of content also makes it equally accessible. To be a fan of Touhou is to be a fan of human creative work, as the variety in its content allows you to enjoy the vast worldbuilding through several means. If you are a fan of literature, you will enjoy Touhou for its ability to tell a story through cutscenes, music, and the various literary works detailing the world of Gensokyo (Touhou’s in-world setting, a magical land full of Yokai and humans.) If you are a fan of music, you will enjoy the franchise's massive audio library filled with decades of unique genres spearheaded by Zun. If you are a fan of videogames, you will adore the addictive nature in this pillarstone of the Danmaku genre. Regardless of your preference in media consumption, Touhou will always find a way to reach your heart.

i use the UNT wifi on my 2 devices and it just sucks so bad on my phone. i downloaded 1.1.1.1 to avoid the weird blocks it places on some apps where they'll never load, like clash royale. it doesn't work, and i have to turn my wifi off to load some apps. it constantly disconnects or reads no wifi. it wouldn't be a problem if i got service in any goddamn building on campus. do i have to deal with this for 4 more years??
