Hey fellow Vikings!
I’m an artist who paints video game landscapes (among other subjects) in oil using traditional wet-on-wet (Bob Ross style) techniques. In the past, I’ve painted scenes from Halo, Sea of Thieves, Satisfactory, Apex, and Dragon Warrior.
With 1.0 around the corner, I’m launching a full Valheim series to paint one landscape from each biome and I need your help finding the best scenery.
Here’s how it works:
Every couple of days, I’ll post a thread for a specific biome asking for your best screenshots.
If I select your screenshot to use as the reference for that biome’s painting, I’ll send you a free print of the finished piece!
What I’m looking for: Beautiful or dramatic scenery, great lighting, and signature elements from the biome (for example, a wandering Troll in the Black Forest or a Drake in the mountains).
To kick things off: Let’s start with the Meadows. Drop your absolute favorite Meadows screenshots in the comments below!
Let’s see what you’ve got.

I always wanted to try giving her a different hairstyle and new clothes since she never seems like she'd be the type of woman to wear the same thing every day! Yes, the runes at the bottom of the skirt are my reddit username in runes (Futhorc as it's my heritage!)
I hope you like it! My tendons are starting to snap over my wrists so it's time to call it a night lol.

Me and my friends start a new playthrough for every big update the game has done and 1.0 is not going to be an exception.
I'm usually the one who constructs the base while I command them to bring me mats like a bunch of lackeys under my rules /s.
But every time, every update, I end up making an ugly "cube" base. My imagination for making a cool base is like 10% there. But for 1.0 I want to make something that they will look at and say: Ok, this one looks like a proper base.
So, my request for all of you is to give me your advices on making a base, house, etc... that can look like something you really want to come back after gathering and figthing.I don't want to make super complex stuff either, like a castle or similar buildings, just things or ideas to make the buildings look more coherent. Your tricks to make a building look like something cool and exciting and not just an ugly cube made of stone and wood.

So with a few days until the Deep North update, I’ve finally beaten the queen and am ready to move onto the ashlands. My very first time doing so. It took a while because I’m a solo Viking and been playing off and on for the last few years. I’m interested in a strategy to blitz the ashlands before the new update drops. Maybe a bit unrealistic but I think it would be a fun goal to have do myself. Anyways, cheers Vikings!

Nolvak is our main base for our second playthrough on our server (there's 3 of us) and we just never bothered to move. Our previous run we built a starter base/village and then our main base in the plains bordering a Mountain (small) and Mistlands (Queen was there!).
We love building open air villages, so this server is No Raids (1.0 we will make a raid server, and that will drastically change how we plan our bases) with some mods;
- Plant everything
- Valheim Plus
- Plant Easily
- Build Restriction tweaks
- Pet pantry
- Veinmine
There are others, but these are the ones that would really effect building. I have my own personal build world where I use creative mode. But we don't use that here ~~~ x)
Let me know if you want to see more! We've got Vaxa and Wyrmfound from our previous character run on the same server :)
(also, reddit lurker and noob, how do you add captions on desktop???)

I’ve played Valheim since initial launch and love it. I’m renting a dedicated server for me and some friends who have not yet played at all (mainly Xbox players), some know each other some don’t.
With the launch of 1.0, I’ll be renting a server a vanilla play through for the group, and am wondering if you all have any advice for how to keep the peace?
In a sandbox like this I’m a little concerned with people claiming all the early-accessible iron/ copper, and my main concern is everyone just having fun. In a perfect world it go smooth but…. I can already foresee some disputes breaking out. Maybe I’m too concerned?
Has anyone played in servers that set some good / reasonable ground rules for resources/ space /etc that you would recommend?

Greetings Vikings! I’m so excited for 1.0’s release next week, and I’ll be starting over with a brand new world to play the game from the start. I’ve always used whatever random seed I was given in the past, but I’d like to mix it up this time.
If you have a favorite seed, could you please drop it below? I’d like to go in blind, so no need to give me any reason why it’s your favorite. Thank you in advance!

Couldn't tell you why, but building the frame of a house is my favourite part. I'm loathed to put the walls and roof up now. Any other builders the same?

I managed to get the last totem of the five needed. Now I need to prepare for the boss battle. Gonna need some time to make sure I get it right. Keeping the totem safe before I decide what I'm going to do.

Image attached comes from an earlier post. Presuming it is accurate https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/1u2fe4x/valheim_10_achievement_spoiler_alert/
I've played this game a lot, having gotten as far as beating Queen. I'm thinking of having my new 1.0 world be a forever world dedicated to knocking out as many of these Steam Achievements as possible. For the most part they seem quite straightforward, with some exceptions.
I probably won't be checking off Stronger Together in this world as I typically play solo. When it comes down to it, I can probably just find someone on Discord to go tag team Eikthyr with
The Toughest Viking and The Master Hunter would require the definition of "Hard Difficulty" as there is both a hard preset and a hard combat level slider. If Hard Difficulty means the latter, it frees up flexibility elsewhere.
Pathfinder will be tricky as that means a no map run. I've tried no map runs before and they were hard to get off the ground. I think what gets me is that I would try to sketch it out irl and soon realize "... this is just a map run except I'm going through the trouble of sketching it out instead of letting the map do it" I'm thinking of trying a more in game approach to getting a sense of my location but it will still be quite a grind.
Any of you care about the Steam Achievements at all?

...when the game updates and the mod has not been updated.
My buddy and I play on dedicated server using DatHost. We knew we were going to start a new playthrough for 1.0, and we're both impatient about going ahead and starting, so we started a world where we are just building our bases (not in the same area) but trying not to explore much so that 95% of the world is still 'new' for 1.0.
We have two mods installed (Corewood Pieces and Finewood Pieces by Blacks7ar) that adds clay as a building material, and adds a bunch of additional build pieces. He is using a lot of those in his base. I have stuck with vanilla materials for the reasons I'm about to elaborate.
Anyone have direct experience with something like this? When the game updates and the mod is, for whatever length of time, not updated and let's say doesn't work, if he logs into his base I would assume if any of those build pieces are load-bearing the structure built upon them will collapse because the pieces won't be there.
My questions are:
I *think* I know the likely answers but I was hoping someone might have direct empirical knowledge they could share. Thanks all.
