Funny Don't Settle For Less

Post image

I don't mind playing 30 FPS on older systems because I grew up playing games since the NES. But that was because it is retro media and once you make those games you can't fix them.

Nowadays 30 FPS is harder to justify because we've gotten better at optimizing games and patching them when they are buggy or release in poor condition.

My point is we shouldn't settle for less than what we deserve. Whether it be PC or console.

That's bait

59

u/Galterinone May 15 '26

Yea, afaik the NES ran at 60 fps for most games lol

21

u/CptMisterNibbles May 15 '26

Or 50fps for PAL regions

3

u/Kjufka May 15 '26

yes, but then monitors (CRT) in PAL region were mostly 75hz in 90s and early 2000s

60fps is peasantry, always was

7

u/CptMisterNibbles May 15 '26

We are talking about NES, so 80s and 90s and “monitors” don’t have any place in the conversation. These consoles were played on TVs which were hardware locked to 50fps. The consoles and games didn’t really correct for this, and game logic was also generally locked so these games just played at a slower 50hz in those regions. The music too was often just lower.

I saw someone say, that anything below 120fps makes them physically ill, and that they throw up if they see it for too long. Lol yeah right.

54

u/DegenerateCrocodile May 15 '26

I remember trying 120fps for the first time after hearing people hype it up for years.

I was underwhelmed. It was definitely smoother, but hardly the game changer that going from 30 to 60 was.

6

u/Blurgas May 15 '26

I went from a 60Hz monitor to 144Hz.
Wasn't life changing, but was still a bit of a "damn, that is nice" moment

At least to me , the real noticeable change is when you try going back. Over 140 There is very little difference tell you start getting into the five hundreds.

It blows me away that it's been multiple decades When total biscuits started the movement to try to make this standard be 60fps. Yet we're still having this conversation Sad really.

2

u/Opening-Dig697 May 16 '26

The difference between 60-120fps in a competitive game is massive.

I'd get it if you were playing single player or co-op games, but if one player has 60 fps, and one player has 120fps and the skill level is the same, the 120fps player wins every single time.

It's a massive difference in not only fluidity, but much more importantly, latency.

Sometimes I switch from 240hz display mode to 60hz (for compatibility reasons) and while it doesn't make me physically ill per se, it is definitely a very uncomfortable experience that I'm avoiding as much as getting physically ill. God bless Huang and his DLSS + frame generation.

u/Manyarethestrange May 15 '26

Very possible. Could be a hair epileptic. Before my first massive seizures, I was getting violently ill whenever I was near my triggers. Tvs are still flashing lights regardless of how fast they flash.

2

u/Urinius May 15 '26

Yeah I remember that one. I was actually concerned that it might mean that there's some underlying issue with them. But they misinterpreted what I said and acted like a douche lol

2

u/PIO_PretendIOriginal May 15 '26

to be fair in VR that can be a problem.

I got motion sick back in the days of halo ce on the xbox (now whether it was the foc, the 30fps, or just me being unfamilar with First person view I cant say).

these days I find above 50fps staves off my fps motion sickness

4

u/Free-Equivalent1170 May 15 '26

I wont throw up, but going from 120 to 60 is a big whiplash for me. Feels like everything is dragging

3

u/[deleted] May 16 '26

For twitchy games once you get used to 120hz display you just can't go back. 60fps is okay for older games though like ps4 generation. That's just the truth of the matter.

I don't know why, but 30 fps is only playable, when there's no other possibility like on a switch. But on my pc? Hell nah. I've been through that 30 fps hell. 60 minimum

182

u/archangel0512 May 15 '26

It's because 30 fps while using a mouse to move the camera feels way worse than using a controller since controllers smooth out the camera motion.

59

u/Top-Actuator2581 May 15 '26

That makes so much more sense now why I see so many people dog on 30 fps. I really only play on my switch since it’s all I have time for as a dad of a medically complex kid. So it never bothers. I’ve always wondered why so many people hate it

48

u/SmallGuyOwnz May 15 '26

Yeah, oftentimes people only have surface-level knowledge about themselves even when they're complaining about the issues as well. For example I've seen many people complain about "low fps" in situations where they're averaging well above 60, but the problem isn't that fps is low, the problem is that it's unstable.

ping-ponging between 60 and 140 fps feels way worse than a steady 40 or 50 fps.

9

u/The-Nice-Writer May 15 '26

Yep. In some games where my Legion Go S really can’t do a stable 60, I aim for 40 and lock it in. 30 does still really bother me if I have to move the camera a lot… blur on or off, it makes me feel queasy.

More a skill issue on my part though. Weak stomach.

2

u/SmallGuyOwnz May 15 '26

Haha yeah I mean fps can definitely have a very real impact on comfort as well. This shows the most if you try to play something in vr. Nothing feels quite like struggling to run a vr game at 30fps lol

3

u/The-Nice-Writer May 15 '26

I don’t think I could handle VR at any framerate, personally. Almost certainly a recipe for disaster with my motion sickness issues 😂

2

u/Hoybom May 15 '26

would be a banger of a weight loss programm I guess

2

u/melissa_fornow May 18 '26

Hard same.

I have a 180Hz monitor but my primary game (Final Fantasy XIV) I have locked to 60FPS. My machine can't handle a consistent 180FPS at a reasonable level of detail, so it drops to 60FPS regularly. It feels a lot more comfortable to have a steady 60FPS than to have 140-160FPS that dips down to 60FPS if I look at it funny.

5

u/Top-Actuator2581 May 15 '26

Oh for sure! Even with playing on a small screen I find frame pacing to be way more important. I’ll take a stable 30-40 fps any day over a jittery 50-60 where it’s always jumping. Lots of games have that issue and it just ruins it. Like Pokemon Scarlett and Violet before the switch2 update

5

u/SwimmingCommon May 15 '26

As a PC gamer. I'll take a steady 30fps and lower graphics then 60 with shit ton of dips

3

u/Top-Actuator2581 May 15 '26

I could definitely see that too. Your eyes are just that much more sensitive. Plus if you are on a pc and doing 100fps or higher 30 has to be jarring. Hell 60 is jarring compared to 30. People claim it’s not but it really is. BOTW and TOTK are different games playing in a smooth 60 vs the janky 30 on the og switch.

9

u/Iamtheman31 May 15 '26

also mouse movements are generally faster than controllers

2

u/rowdymatt64 May 15 '26

Holy shit this is actually why. I don't know why I never thought of this lmao, I always just assumed because my pc has better graphics and resolution that I notice the frame drops because of how the clear and sgarp edges edges blur when you change direction. It's like why I can't use FSR for movement intensive games, the ghosting just makes it so ugly

→ More replies (7)

11

u/Dron22 May 15 '26

It depends on the game, on some games the difference is not very noticeable, especially older games.

5

u/RetnikLevaw May 15 '26

Ocarina of Time originally ran at 20 fps on the N64 and you didn't notice it because the frame pacing is locked perfectly and there's no input latency.

Consistent frame pacing and responsive controls ultimately matter more than the actual frame rate. You can have games that are running above 60fps but still feel like a stuttering mess compared to a 30 fps game with stable timing (looking at you, Fallout 4)...

5

u/GlummyGloom May 15 '26

60 for real. 30 is rough on PC.

3

u/Patient_Tutor_9948 May 15 '26

Probably cuz ur closer to the screen on PC usually? Idk but 30 fps feels more bareable when playing on my switch on the couch than playing at 30fps at my desk on a monitor.

2

u/Iamtheman31 May 15 '26

it's probably the screen size so you see less details

It helps if the game is built for 30fps. A game built for 60 being forced to run at 30? Yea it can be a bit trying.

4

u/Green_J3ster May 15 '26

gotten better at optimizing games

🤣

Jokes aside, 30fps in modern games feels objectively worse than in older ones because modern controls and rendering pipeline latency are much worse than in 30fps era.

Both things are true at the same time. 30fps is perfectly playable, but 60fps is objectively better 100% of the time.

I've played and thoroughly enjoyed many a great game at 30fps, but there is no game that would not have been made at least a bit more enjoyable by a better framerate.

u/iamthenight22 May 15 '26

I don't care either way. If I can get 60 fps out of a game, great. But 30 is far from unplayable.

21

u/Elgallo1980 May 15 '26

It honestly depends on the game though.

30fps in truck simulator is barely distinguishable from 60fps

But 30fps on an fps? That’s unplayable 100%

25

u/Thrawp May 15 '26

30fps in a multiplayer fps game*.

30fps is just fine in singleplayer. As long as you aren't having to deal with other folks going faster than you it really doesn't matter until you really dip below 30.

4

u/cheapshotyouth May 15 '26

30 FPS is jarring to me and I know that sounds spoiled. Like everything just looks and moves weirdly. Maybe its my OCD but I cant handle 30 fps nowadays.

Anything under 15 fps isn't playable for me, anything at or above 15 is playable

6

u/Agreeable-Agent-7384 May 15 '26

People say that. But forcing a modern game to run at 15 fps to see what people claim they can tolerate, really has me thinking yall lying. It’s actually miserable. The inputs feel bad, the responses feel bad, the chopped animations changing the feeling of things to the point it’s not even the same game. Maybe if you’re talking about like some old jrpgs I could believe it. But I think it’s pure grandstanding to say you think 15fps on modern games of playable.

2

u/ExitLeading2703 May 15 '26

Literally every game I play at runs at the lower side between 10 and 30 fps, sometimes even lower. Trust me, 15 fps is tolerable, at least for me.

I prefer enhanced visuals over higher frame rates on just about every game. A solid 30 FPS, well frame paced experience with high fidelity and high quality textures will always be better to me than a 60 FPS experience with reduced fidelity and textures. Visuals are more important to me than frames for immersion.

33

u/Some_Technology8762 May 15 '26

30fps gives me headaches these days. Smooth 60 and above. I will drop graphics as much as I need to to hit it, as well.

13

u/GiantSweetTV May 15 '26

I feel like 30fps is playable is anything that doesn't require quick reaction times or doesn't have fast movement.

Inscryption is absolutely fine at 30fps. COD is not.

15

u/Abehajeme May 15 '26

30 is ok, but devs should aim higher than that with optimization

6

u/Objective-Mission-40 May 15 '26

This is the only correct answer ive seen so far. People getting upset at saying 30fps is fine are proving op right.

3

u/XulManjy May 15 '26

I mean in a modern day context, especially with consoles being expensive as they are, only havinf a 30fps option is behind the standards.

Thats like saying 720p broadcast is ok in 2026.

3

u/Objective-Mission-40 May 15 '26

It is. Not every country or even county is as developed as others. This is just proving op right

u/DogmaticPpl May 15 '26

30 fps is NOT ok. The gold standard is 60. The higher, the better ofc

2

u/Abehajeme May 15 '26

It's not good, but it's playable, even in action games.
I mean, I finished Elden Ring on 750ti back then, you can imagine the fps. :D

1

u/That1DogGuy May 15 '26

Nah, it's definitely fine.

9

u/Ok_Astronomer_5320 May 15 '26

I genuinely don't see the difference. If it's side by side I can kinda tell but when I'm actually playing the game I can't tell if it's 30 or 60 unless I check.

3

u/Ok-Firefighter-6855 May 15 '26

3

u/HumbleOwl May 15 '26

I'm so happy that I have broken eyeballs. A solid 30 fps looks the same as 60 or 120+ plus. I'm sure if you slow down and analyze the footage of games at the different fps, I'd see the difference but unless I'm getting major frame drops, it all looks fine to me

3

u/Distinct_Mix5130 May 15 '26

Finally someone who gets it. Our eyes quickly adjust to 30fps, its most definitely not unplayable, sure i can see how if you're playing multiplayer shooters where ever frame counts it would be important, but dawg you do not need 120 fps to play batman or subnautica and assassins creed lmfao, anything over 60is just excessive in single player games, and anything at 30fps is perfectly fine and playable

I can play stable 30FPS without any problem. Despite having a PC where I play at 144fps in a lot of games, from time to time, I like to put a game on my Switch 2, relax at bed, and I can do 30fps just fine. 30fps is perfectly playable. I'm now replaying Indiana Jones on the handheld and having a lot of fun.

3

u/Grand-ArchSummoner May 17 '26

I don't care but if I see someone say that sort of shit about a fucking turn based RPG like the people who are yapping about how some shit like Claire expedition 43 or whatever was unplayable because it was capped at like 40 FPS I want to send you into orbit. I didn't even know what FPS was until I came to Reddit and I've been playing video games since the NES. Us older folks used to call it "slow down" when faced with these scenarios in games like Metroid, where the action would literally screech to a halt. We actually used it to our advantage to progress, like a pause in the game lol.

I never cared. If a game gives me the option between fidelity and performance I always choose performance but maybe there because I’m pretty much only play single player games

3

u/Internal_Swing_2743 May 15 '26

I’ve never had much of a problem with 30 fps. Switching from 60 fps to 30 is jarring for about a minute and then my eyes adjust and I stop noticing it.

3

u/That1DogGuy May 15 '26 edited May 15 '26

I just literally don't care that much at all. As long as it's a good game and the 30fps is consistent, I'm fine. Yes, I would obviously prefer 60, but in no way, shape, or form is 30fps unacceptable or unplayable for me. I don't even consider it "settling."

2

u/mushra_ May 15 '26

Depends on the game. I’m playing death stranding 2 at 30 on my PS5 pro because I can’t stand the upscaled performance mode look for it but usually I’m an FPS snob. DS2 is slow pace and the visuals do make it more immersive

2

u/FdotM May 15 '26

I'm playing Cyberpunk 2077 with hundreds of mods, include graphics mods, on my Legion Go Ryzen Z2 Extreme and it's running between 20-30 FPS and I don't see any difference or stuttering lol

2

u/Simensen_Mills May 15 '26

30 frames per second is okay depending on the game.

I don’t really notice a difference over 60 frames per second. It is negligible, in some cases it actually makes the game worse. (When it affects physics).

Edit: and monitors over 60hz also makes it worse, because that is how ghosting is introduced.

2

u/YukYukas May 15 '26

I think it depends on the animation. Some games look good with 30fps and some are noticeably off

2

u/rhylgi-roogi May 15 '26

I got all achievements for Fallout 3 and New Vegas on a PS3. I would have loved 30 fps.

2

u/MountainProject233 May 15 '26

Love 60fps but I did end up playing kcd2 at 720p accidentally for many hours and didn’t really notice tbh. Was playing on tv on couch and it was still great. 5070ti so no reason for me to was accidental

2

u/Newfaceofrev May 15 '26

I dunno man. I am an old British man. We had a higher refresh rate on our TV's compared to American movies so I've been conditioned by British TV to think of higher FPS as looking cheap. I will keep it on 30fps if I have the option, you youngins can have your 60+ rates.

2

u/MaxTheHor May 15 '26

To be fair, tere are people who would say the same for 60fps.

120 is the new standard for some people.

My rig is capable 1440p 144fps, but unless I'm playing an online multiplayer game (which I'm doing less and less of, as time passes, brainrot/dead players increase, and shitty games keep releasing), I don't need more than 60.

2

u/TheNewportBridge May 15 '26

Don’t shoot I love unoptimized slop that runs on last gen consoles still

Prove it

30 fps is fine

2

u/Prot0555 May 16 '26

i COMPLETELY agree this take. I played most games growing up on min graphics, 30fps, and I wasn't whining "oh my god, I hate these graphics/ not having 200 fps!" No. I just ENJOYED the game.

2

u/TheRealBillyShakes May 16 '26

30fps sucks major ass. I can’t help that some of you can’t tell the difference.

2

u/Puzzleheaded_Dog630 May 16 '26

It was fine for SD back in the day but it looks so sluggish on today's screens, hell even 60 fps looks sluggish to me, I'm much more happy playing at like 90-120 fps

2

u/PictureTakingLion May 16 '26

60FPS is actually quite low for a lot of games on current hardware, though for more intensive games it’s understandable if 60 is where we sit.

I don’t believe there is any excuse for a game to be running at 30FPS in the current generation.

2

u/SebbeBruh May 17 '26

Let me put it like this

If 30 fps is all the game allows you: it’s stable, hence playable, and probably accounted for

If 30 fps is all your PC can achieve: unstable, stuttery mess

2

u/charming-choom May 17 '26

Oh so many memories. Playing on my k6-2 500mhz and 32mb ram. Im sure some games were 2fps. Never bother me or my friends at the time.

2

u/immaturenickname May 17 '26

I have played first person shooters with avg 9 fps. Still playable, still fun. What 30 fps?

2

u/DevelopmentLiving401 May 17 '26

My friend is one of those weirdos that SWEARS he can tell the difference between 120 fps and 124 fps.
He keeps his fps overlay on everything he does, and just watches it so he can be like, "Oh hold on, I'm getting some frame drops. I can't play like this." And it's literally like 5 frames when he's over 100.
That kinda shit pisses me off. Now 30? Yeah, we could go higher than that. But honestly, it's fine as long as it's consistent.

2

u/JollyJoeGingerbeard May 17 '26

Optimization is all about resource management. It's not a matter of being better about it. Higher framerate means fewer resources for resolution. There's always a tradeoff.

2

u/Ok_Might7058 May 18 '26

I played the entirety of remnant 2 at 15 fps. 30 is like a whole new world.

30fps is fine for me as long it's locked and consistent and latency isnt horrible.

2

u/VenimX58 May 19 '26

Going from over 60 to 30 is miserable. 60fps is the bare minimum you should be at even on console. Except handhelds I’m fine there.

3

u/Nic1800 May 15 '26

30fps is playable but it is the absolute minimum.

4

u/Human_Diamond960 May 15 '26

24 fps is all a man needs anything above is luxury

4

u/Cgking11 May 15 '26

30 frames is garbage tho lol.

6

u/Hyper_Mazino May 15 '26

30 FPS in 2026 is just bad, especially on a OLED. No amount of cope will change that.

u/likeyournamebutworse May 15 '26

Less than what we deserve? We deserve nothing. Get the fuck out of here with this shit. If you can't handle a game at 30fps then don't play it. Literally nobody cares.

2

u/D_Bromega May 15 '26

Someone please tell me why I cant see the diffrence from 60 and 30 fps

2

u/MagicTacoHuman May 15 '26

Fuck the fatal frame 2 remake for real

2

u/Icethief188 May 15 '26

I genuinely can’t tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps so never understand these arguments.

2

u/Th3Dark0ccult May 15 '26

Y'all haven't played through entire games with 10-15 fps as kids and it shows.

30 is more than playable for me.

2

u/Ok_Independence_2630 May 15 '26 edited May 15 '26

L meme OP- is 30fps unplayable? No. But will I turn down my settings to get a higher framerate for a smoother playing experience? Yes. I'd rather play something that looks mid and runs consistently rather than a pretty powerpoint presentation

1

u/HonneurOblige May 15 '26

30 FPS is subpar for games requiring precise reaction timing - but great for everything else.

1

u/lllentinantll May 15 '26

30 fps is playable, sure. Doesn't mean I wouldn't prefer 60 fps.

1

u/Good-Discussion-9238 May 15 '26

30 fps is "playable" and I'd even go as far as saying that anything between 20-30 is as well, it's just not the best experience.

I played GTA 4 on the PS3 when it came out and the framerate sucked, but it's still one of my favorite games of all time, nowadays I revisit the game on PC with performance mods (FusionFix/DXVK) so you can run it at way higher framerates and it is objectively a better experience.

The term "playable" is just so broad, obviously 60+ is ideal, but when the game is fun and it's your only console growing up, if the game boots, it's playable.

1

u/MrLightning-Bolt May 15 '26

Sure, but I wont complain.

1

u/br0ken_St0ke May 15 '26

Depends on the game

1

u/Aulumnis May 15 '26

30 fps is playable with a controller if its with a mouse feels like im dragging it through mud.

1

u/LiebeDahlia May 15 '26

depends on the game really. I was replaying Black Flag and 30 fps on it is perfectly tolerable I'm still having a good experience playing the game. 30 fps on racing games would be playable but really obnoxious, and on shooters it would be borderline unplayable. If all you play is single player story stuff then 30 fps is perfectly fine

1

u/OldBillBlizzard May 15 '26

Im an unc so I cant comprehend the modern FPS fixation. Back my teens, and childhood 60 was the gold standard, so 30 was definitely playable but anything below was considered not playable. 30 is borderline, imo. Anyway I remember playing half life one as a kid in like 2000. Some parts ran at lile 25 fps and I still had fun. Did I mention how bad PS1 frame rates were?

1

u/MicrowaveMeal May 15 '26

It’s all about frame timing. If it’s solid 30 can feel fine. If not I get bad headache and it feels awful

1

u/wasteland_superhero May 15 '26

All I want is 4K 60 fps for most games. Is that too much to ask?

1

u/Malagubbar May 15 '26

Old systems like NES and SNES didn’t have 30 fps

1

u/DarkDigital May 15 '26

Used to play Deus Ex Invisible War in it's glorious 17-20 fps on the og Xbox.

1

u/GSturges May 15 '26

Just pretend its a film, at 29.97 fps...

1

u/Romeo-Charlie-6-28 May 15 '26

Ah yes, a spoiled brat who havent played GTA 5 on the PS4 or Bloodborne.

1

u/Pro4791 May 15 '26

30fps for controller, 60fps for m/k. Hell 40-60fps is how I used to play Minecraft on my old laptop.

1

u/SgtMoose42 May 15 '26

30 fps from a Civilization game is probably ok, but from a fast paced shooter... no thanks.

1

u/Xcrazy_sniper May 15 '26

I play division 2 at about 30fps because I have to, 1060 6gb and i5 6600k

1

u/NeonFraction May 15 '26

The problem with 60 FPS it has an impact on gameplay innovation. 60 FPS is a much higher bar to clear comparatively than 30FPS (it's not linear) which means both art AND gameplay have to be compromised to hit it.

I'm a dev and I've seen it in action. Art quality reductions are pretty obvious, but you'll also see things like 'we need to remove these environment interactions because they tick and are taking up CPU.' When you aim at 60, you lose a lot of appetite for gameplay risk because there's way less wiggle room.

1

u/BozTheReaper May 15 '26

i used to think this. then i got back into driveclub. and now i think its alright on racing games

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Wait470 May 15 '26

Few years ago I used to play in my old crappy laptop and for me 30-40 fps was the best experience

1

u/MinMaus May 15 '26

Have been playing GTA V on 30fps until my friends wanted to play a paekour map with me and I couldnt make a jump because the physics are aparently frame based

1

u/Leviathan_Dev May 15 '26

60FPS?!?! Are you a PEASANT?

/j I beat Alan Wake 2 & Silent Hill 2 & Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on Steam Deck at 24fps

1

u/Archer-Unhappy May 15 '26

Like saying you’re spoiled for owning a functional toilet

1

u/DummyThiccScav May 15 '26

The amount of people that will complain about anything less than 120 fps is absurd. And it's irked me for awhile. If I can play on ultra graphics and get 60 or more I'm perfectly happy.

1

u/FlatwormNo5172 May 15 '26

I was so thrown off when I first learned the people arguing online about FPS weren’t talking about a steady 30 minimum but 120+. I spent so many years of my life just wanting my frames to be stable that when I finally got there it felt unreal.

1

u/RocMerc May 15 '26

Why does 30 fps on the switch look fine but 30 on my ps5 look like a slide show?

1

u/sciencedingle May 15 '26

Well 32 is more ideal since 30 is the threshold for smooth

1

u/black-iron-paladin May 15 '26

30 is fine IF AND ONLY IF it's rock-solid. If there's any issues whatsoever with frame drops or frame pacing, it immediately makes my eyes bleed (I'm looking at you, Bloodborne)

1

u/Johnnybravo343 May 15 '26

Bloodborne…

1

u/Nordic_Daniel May 15 '26

main reason i haven’t touched rdr2 again

1

u/Warm-Berry-4331 May 15 '26

Lol that's accurate

1

u/CodePandorumxGod May 15 '26

Unless the game is specifically designed and optimized around lower framerates (like games on consoles), it really does suck to play at 30fps.

1

u/redboi049 May 15 '26

The meme describes you perfectly.

1

u/ChosenAshes May 15 '26

Im fine with just about fps as long as its a stable frame rate. Would rather have consistent 30 fps than 60 fps that constantly drops. That hurts my eyes

1

u/eduison May 15 '26

I have heard the phrase "I am having frame drops, I can’t play properly. The games dropping from 250 to 180"

1

u/standin99876 May 15 '26

Ngl 144 is unplayable, if it’s an fps. Has to be 244+

1

u/Phantom-Kraken May 15 '26

I gotta agree. I don’t mind my older consoles like the game cube doing 30 but I want my ps5 to play something buttery smooth especially action games. Also I cannot go from playing a game at 60 to playing it at 30. Way too weird

1

u/rolandguy85 May 15 '26

I mean 30fps isn’t unplayable it just looks shitty and is only still justified by people who defend the Switch 2 not running 3rd party games well.

1

u/OneLogOneOpportunity May 15 '26

I played Skyrim at 18 fps for at least 5 years

1

u/eyes0fred May 15 '26

30 fps is great, all of my opponents should be playing at 30 fps.

1

u/Gooseuk360 May 15 '26

Depends on the game.

And that's that concluded FOREVER.

1

u/SapientApe_ May 15 '26

I'm playing TOTK on an emulator rn and I spent way too much time getting it to a stable 60fps/4k.

1

u/trev1976UK May 15 '26

Ocarina of Time was like 15/20fps , Amazing Experience

1

u/Vercoduex May 15 '26

Under 120 is unplayable

1

u/sharkweekocho May 15 '26

4K or the highway. 60fps is great and all but not if I have downgrade to 1080 🤮

1

u/H0rny_On-Main May 15 '26

I can't tell anything past 25.

1

u/South_Buy_3175 May 15 '26

I played Fallout 3, New Vegas & Skyrim to 100% on the PS3. I suffered through those multiple layers of hell so 30fps actually felt like a godsend where I could get it.

Playing games in 60fps nowadays honestly feels divine, but if it drops to 30 I’m still happy.

Under that though? I’m getting PTSD…

1

u/DamagedSpaghetti May 15 '26

Please be bait

1

u/krut84 May 15 '26

30 fps is unplayable on your PC because you haven’t set it up correctly on your 60+hz screen. 30 fps is great if you just know how to set it up. I have a i7 14700k, 32 gb ram, rtx 5060
